David tried his best to restrain his irritation, watching Marcus stare at his wife. He knew that jealousy was one of his weaknesses, but when it came to this person, his sense of possessiveness was especially strong. No matter how unpleasant it was to realize, but in a fight with Marcus face to face, David had no chance. Therefore, any, even absurd, option was important to him.
"Tell me straight, what do you need from my family and from my wife? I have already signed papers on transferring all a.s.sets of the Lenali Enterprise group of companies to Marc Technologies. I have nothing more to offer you."
Marcus raised his eyebrows, showing sincere astonishment, "G.o.d, why do you need to be so dramatic? Who do you take me for? I don't suffer from a lack of attention of women in order to attempt on someone's wife," the man said as if he was mistaken for some kind of pervert, "As a woman, your Elena doesn't interest me, but like the last offspring of the Teser family she is very interesting."
Marcus walked over to David and held out his hand, "How about a deal? I can offer very favorable conditions."
"From your lips, it sounds more like an invitation to a fraudulent pyramid scheme, where the top gets everything and the lower levels remain empty-handed." David's face at that moment would be great for the announcement [Not interested in s.e.x or network marketing]. He looked at Marcus's outstretched hand, ignored his gesture and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Ahaha, yes, I'm not arguing, my actions could create such bias on your part. But this time I'm absolutely serious," Marcus laughed, this Anderson was the only one who allowed himself to be boorish in his address. Even with a past life, this trait of David has not changed. If he didn't like someone, he did not bother to hide it with excessive manners.
"By and large, your company is indifferent to me. If you no longer throw the spanner into the works of my company with your behind-the-scenes media manipulations, then I promise not only to stop pressure on Lenali Enterprise but also give the green light to joint projects with Marc Technologies."
Although the last statement was not part of his plans, Marcus decided to give credit, few were able to diversify his monotonous everyday life, as David did. Though the latter had no idea about it, this did not affect Taubert's progress towards his ultimate goal.
Marcus's company was a clear leader in all sectors of both the public and shadow economies, and such an offer for any businessman would be like G.o.d's blessing, but not for David. To trust Marcus meant voluntarily entering a cage with a sleeping tiger. No one could predict when this predator was going to wake up and rush to the attack.
"Ha, what a tempting offer you voiced to me, Mr. Taubert. And what is your price for such condescension to an opponent who doesn't even have a choice? "David asked with unspoken maliciousness in his voice.
"Oh, just a little. I just need your wife to help me find one thing."
"What thing?"
Marcus smiled mysteriously and answered half a tone quieter, "One small artifact that belonged to the Teser family many generations ago. If she helps me get it, then you will continue to live as if nothing had happened, and our paths will no longer cross. Isn't that what you want?"
Without a doubt, this was David's main desire. He just wanted to live with his family, not recalling either his past life or what happened before Sean was born.
"Your request seems simple at first glance, but we both know that when it comes to the Teser family, this artifact cannot be a simple little thing. I do not exclude that it may be even more dangerous than you yourself. So why should I help you with something so risky?" David asked.
"Tsk, and why do you need to know everything? Believe me, ignorance is the grace of mankind. People live and think about ordinary things, not noticing how their lives go, and dying, often without knowing its essence." Marcus sat in a chair next to the bed and crossed his legs, his body was relaxed as if a man was about to take a nap,
"The artifact I want to get is a weapon. And this is the only weapon that can kill me. Well, does this fact add more motivation to you?"
David did not expect such a turn of events, and Marcus took him by surprise with his question, "Um, I understand you correctly, do you want Elena to help you find a weapon that can kill you? But why? Don't you have the opposite goal? Why then all this campaign with the chipization of the population?"
"What I said is enough for you to make a decision. I'm not going to fill you in the rest," Marcus looked at his watch, his break came to an end, and he had a meeting scheduled, "I have half an hour left. I advise you to hurry up and bring your son or your wife will be in this condition for several more days."
"What does my son have to do with it? How is that related to him at all?"
"G.o.d, man, you don't even know the abilities of your own child?" Marcus said in a mocking tone.
However, it only played into the hands of the man that David did not know the potential of his son. After all, Sean was the kind of person the fight with whom Marcus would prefer to avoid. This little boy was his only threat, but he safely wrapped it in his favor at their last meeting.
