What interested me the most was History. The many things that the games didn't explore enough were fleshed out accordingly here.
I have to be honest, this world is so rich in history.
Inevitably, during these first days, I met Red. He is currently Green's best friend.
Personality-wise, he's similar to the one in Origins, but nonetheless more focused on battling. In that aspect, he drew more from Red in the manga.
My only issue was... With the help of the system and the knowledge from my previous life, what seemed fun became tedious.
I quickly reached the top of my cla.s.s without any effort.
The teachers only had praise for me, and thus Oak decided to allow me to aid him with his research when I had free time.
In a mere month, I quickly started to become indispensable as an a.s.sistant to the Professor.
I also conveniently found out that helping him was the fastest way to unlock abilities in the system.
After observing a flock of Pidgeys and a.n.a.lyzing their differences, I unlocked the ability to see natures. This information was listed on a small box that would appear when I focused on a Pokemon.
Not only that... But after helping the Professor heal a bunch of Pokemon over time, I unlocked the ability to see status conditions. (i.e: Burn, paralyzed, Poisoned...)
As I scrolled through the available abilities, it became clearer that I was going to have to do a lot of research.
The best thing was that at the same time, I unlocked a healing skill. The system described it as follows:
[Category: Skill
Name: Medicine
Description: Allows Host to craft low-grade medicine out of herbs and other ingredients with 100% success rate. By leveling up through repeated usage, Host will unlock better medicine quality. Works for Pokemon and Humans alike.
Status: Unlocked]
Next to it, was the gathering ability. To unlock it, I would have to study and gather a lot of herbs... From common ones to rarer ones.
In that fas.h.i.+on... Two years went by in a flash.
I dropped out of school. Well not really.
I pa.s.sed the final exams along with the sixteen-year-olds last year, at only thirteen years of age. Pallet town then gave me the t.i.tle of "Our Town's Genius".
The problem was that I started to garner regional fame, and some higher ups wanted to meet me.
I denied them all for now, saying I wanted to focus on research.
Professor Oak took me in as a full-time a.s.sistant, and every day we would be engrossed in our studies. He even allowed me to help him out with the developing of the Pokédex.
This surprised me, but he said he trusted me. And I being myself, I can't betray that trust.
I have to admit, I went a little too far with my research... Neglecting other, more important things.
Although I sometimes spent time with Green and Red, Most of it was spent in the lab. In occasions, I would go out to eat with Daisy, who was two years older. The time I spent with her was fun and memorable.
I recently found out that she idolizes Professor Juniper from Unova. Aspiring to become like her, she helps us with research sometimes.
Although she's mostly calm, she can be somewhat mischievous. Her biggest weakness was her younger brother... Who she pampered all the time.
Ignoring that last bit...
I apparently have an innate talent. That's right I have another cheat.
I became amazing at befriending Pokemon. It suits me well, because I love them... And them loving me back brings me some joy, to be honest.
From stubborn Pokemon to traumatized ones. They all seemed to open up like a book to me, and me alone.
This made me even more essential to the professor, who frequently took me out on expeditions.
I would frequently play the role of befriending a Pokemon and convince it to let Oak take some measurements and pictures.
Of course, this was not my only job. We did a lot more Pokemon researcher-related stuff... Trust me, it was fun.
With this, we got quite some progress in.
The Pokédex was almost complete. And I, Im no, Shawn Oak... Am about to be one of it's developers!
With all that work, I hadn't noticed that Green started to become less and less energetic.
He became more hard working and started to turn less sociable over time, challenging me to different things all the time.
As if he was trying to prove me something.
Daisy told me not to worry, but It really gave me a bad feeling.
Thus, I asked the system for its opinion.
It answered in this fas.h.i.+on:
[a.n.a.lyzing Data.
Answering Host, Green Oak is likely feeling neglected. The host is advised to spend more time with him if you want to keep a healthy sibling relations.h.i.+p.]
Yes. That's what it said.
Neglected? d.a.m.n it... Now I feel bad.
Oh well, I guess I'll spend more time with him in the future.

Three years later...
I am now seventeen-years-old, and the System has evolved quite a lot in preparation for my journey.
Yes, I am finally to embark on my very own Pokemon journey! How cool is that?
Also, If you were wondering, Green seems to feel better. Although he certainly isn't the same anymore.
"Whatever... System, list my skills and abilities."

Phew, that's what I'm working with.
I made sure to acquire all that I thought was essential in the last three years... Well, most of the ideas were from a book I read on survival back on earth.
Moving on, there is one little thing that really started to bug me lately.
Why can't I see the requirements for the EV/IV ability?! Not only that one... but a bunch of abilities have no requirements whatsoever.
The reason for this... As the System specified, is that they are hidden unlockables... And will only be unlocked through the completion of certain, secret tasks.
How am I meant to complete a task when I don't know what it is? Ugh... Whatever.
The only skill (from the ones acquired) that doesn't explain itself really is view components. This ability is actually very useful...
It allows me to see the components of whatever I am looking at. So for example, it would list the ingredients in a stew that I'm eating.
This way I'll never be poisoned. How cool.
"System, have I become more energetic lately? I kind of feel different..."
[Answering Host. Due to merging with the previous owner of this body the Host has become more alike to that person.]
Ahh, that makes sense. I hope I don't lose my original self. Gives me gooseb.u.mps just to think about it.
With that thought, I started to wear out the outfit I had been meticulously preparing for this day... It came with a black water-resistant suit underneath, and a nice white s.h.i.+rt with a slightly tall collar.
Can't go wrong with the basics.
I wore some heat-retaining underwear and some black shorts, that doubled as swim-shorts... Along with some grey sweat-resistant wristbands.
In my backpack, I packed enough clothes for a week and some climbing gear. All of the essentials, such as a mobile phone and a metallic water-flask were present.
In the front of my backpack, I carried all of my medicinal stuff and food ingredients... Amongst other miscellaneous things.
You could say that I was ready for everything and anything.
What... I am not overpreparing. Trust me.
[*Beep*
Alarm set by the user: It is time to head to the Laboratory.]
Ahh, finally.
With that, I strode down the stairs and met Oak alongside Green, who was chatting with Daisy.
Next to them lied three s.h.i.+ny Pokeb.a.l.l.s on top of a desk.
"Phew... Let's go!"
