At first, he suspected it to be Crown's herd but suddenly realized that it was much bigger and he detected different types of creates that were getting closer to him! However, Zaro didn't run and instead, he decided to head towards the incoming herds of animals so that he could investigate.
Suddenly, random creatures began appearing before him only to dash past him with a terrified look in their eyes. Similarly, more and more creatures were pa.s.sing him but what confused him was that these creatures ranged from hunters to pa.s.sive animals.
The wolves that were fleeing did not even bother to pick off the easy prey and instead kept moving forward which startled Zaro. However, it didn't cause him to flee as he wanted to know why they were running...
Ignoring the hundreds of creatures running away, Zaro continued forward and didn't pay attention to the odd looks and glances the other creatures threw at him while he walked forward. Zaro also didn't put on his camouflage as to not get stamped on by a larger creature that did not see him.
Some time pa.s.sed and Zaro guessed that there must've been at least a hundred thousand creatures that fled past him and even saw some Sapphire and Emerald cores! Although he was worried, it still did not matter as he eagerly wanted to know what caused the sudden evacuation.
Just as things went quiet, he suddenly heard a terrifying roar coming from the deeper parts of the forest. When he heard it, his whole body froze and refused to move and his body was covered in cold sweat due to the sound!
Although the roar was extremely terrifying, Zaro had come so far in the forest that he couldn't just fall back now. Taking a deep breath and calming himself down, Zaro continued forward once again only to find Sevilus swooping down in front of him.
"Zaro! Move! Leave the forest and head to the plains!"
"Huh?"
Without a second warning, Sevilus grabbed Zaro with his fierce talons and took off into the sky. Zaro was completely stunned and didn't realize what was going on until he suddenly discovered the reason why everyone was running.
An extremely large creature that had a hawk's body but a dragons head was standing on top of one of the large trees and swallowing some beast. Zaro's jaw dropped so far down that his tongue was destined to fall out!
This creature was so big it made Sevilus look like a b.u.t.terfly! Suddenly, a thought struck Zaro and he called out to Sevilus, "Why are we heading towards the plains?! Shouldn't we be hiding under the trees so that it won't see us?!"
"That's more reasonable for the smaller animals! The rest of us are escaping towards the b.e.a.s.t.i.a.l dimension!" Sevilus yelled as he powered through the skies like a rocket.
"What is the b.e.a.s.t.i.a.l Dimension?!" Zaro couldn't help asking.
"A place where only beasts can enter... it's a perfect place to become powerful but the risks are high... most of the creatures heading there will stick around the entrance and not go any further."
"Wait doesn't that mean that death is ahead and behind us?!" In Zaro's mind death seemed inevitable.
"We have a greater chance at survival there than here... once we go in... we will be separated according to our ranks. That way, the strong won't prey on the weak! Look, it's the plains!" In the distance, Zaro could see an almost endless amount of land with forests, lakes, rivers and some hills and even a ma.s.sive ravine!
"s.h.i.+t, the nomads are close to the b.e.a.s.t.i.a.l Dimension... I have to deal with them otherwise they will take advantage of the creatures escaping the forest, hold tight!" Zaro used his claws to latch onto Sevilus' talons and felt him descending towards a group of fifty nomads.
"One thing you need to know... beast cores tremendously over-power humanoid cores! You should be able to kill anything with a ruby-core or lower! I'm going to drop you down and begin the attack, we cannot let them take advantage of us!"
"Alright! I got it!" Zaro, in reality, didn't care about the animals fleeing the forest but Sevilus, on the other hand, cared a lot for them so, as a favor, he decided to listen to him and help out. Plus this meant that he could get some cores and have a reason to kill which was more important.
Sevilus dropped Zaro like a plane dropping explosives from the sky and Zaro aimed straight for one of the nomads. These humanoids were a lot like humans but every single one of them had blonde hair and pointed ears and resembled elves from fantasy movies.
However, Zaro didn't really care about them as he unintentionally released a bloodthirsty aura that surrounded his entire body. Those with bows suddenly froze and didn't release their arrows which allowed Zaro to casually drop down on one of them and rip their face apart.
Since he didn't have time to extract the essence properly, Zaro just swallowed the cores and continued on killing. Sevilus was doing the same and Zaro was amazed by how Sevilus fought because he would occasionally release a shower of green feathers that acted like arrows and penetrated some of the nomads. Although the arrows weren't lethal, they still caused some injuries and disrupted the nomads' attack.
Other beasts that reached the dimension, jumped into the fray as well and began attacking the nomads as well. Especially this one boar with an emerald core, it was killing mercilessly which startled Zaro a bit and made him apologize for calling boars weak.
The battle lasted no more than ten minutes and the nomads were reduced to two remaining warriors. However, the last two had emerald cores and were extremely powerful! One had a sword and the other a spear and the two worked extremely well together and fought their way out of the battlefield.
Sevilus refused to let them escape untouched and swooped down straight at them only to be repelled by the spear-wielding nomad. When he ascended again, the nomad drilled his spear through Sevilus' wing and caused him to fall awkwardly to the ground.
Worried that other creatures or even the nomads taking advantage of Sevilus, he shot forward to his aid and just in time pushed back the swordsman.
"Brother look! The wolf is protecting the dumb bird!" the swordsman said in a surprised tone.
"Kill him too then, he doesn't seem to have a core yet!"
Zaro growled, he was beginning to get extremely angry and definitely didn't want even a feather to fall off his feathered friend. When the swordsman was getting close, Zaro channeled his essence into his claws causing them to become sharper but also change slightly red around the tips.
There was only one thing Zaro wanted to do and that killed whoever was a threat to Sevilus before he could recover. The swordsman ignored Zaro's killing intent and simply slashed his blade at Zaro's face.
With his body now enhanced due to the essence being distributed, in the blink of an eye, Zaro was two meters in the air and was about to claw at the nomad's face. However, the nomad dodged his claws by a hairs width but even though he managed to avoid it, his skin was still ripped open and blood splattered.
The swordsman was surprised but remained calm and lunged at Zaro once again in a thrusting motion. Zaro was now much closer and he felt the sword penetrate through his side so he could simply dash away so that the swordsman couldn't do any more damage.
Zaro thought he would die right dare and felt like the swordsman could have easily attacked once again, however, the boar from before caused both nomads to keep running. While they ran, Zaro could hear one of them cursing that they had lost their good weapon.
Sevilus! Zaro spun around and ran towards Sevilus that got severely injured due to the fall. Luckily, Sevilus seemed to be okay and Zaro helped him pull the spear out of its wing.
"Argh... d.a.m.n those nomads... with this wound, I won't be able to fly properly for the next week!"
Zaro chuckled when he realized that the dumb bird was still okay, then turned around to witness hundreds of thousands of beasts disappearing into a slightly green area. There was no door or visible entrance but more like a large area that was randomly teleporting creatures that ran through it.
