The colored light attack was just the start of the chaos that followed the appearance of The Candied King. Each beam of light that flew from the tootsie pop, one beam for each color of the rainbow, blasted into a skeleton, with a different effect, though the same end result. For instance, the red light caused the skeleton it hit to burst into flames. The blue light caused the skeleton it hit to turn to ice. Either way, the skeleton died…again.
"Run." FlashFyre's voice held a hint of terror as the necromancer saw her skeletons burst into undeath. Without waiting for confirmation, she turned and fled, along with Axel42. A split second later, the rest of the party members all began to run as well.
"Flee in terror all you want." BLANKs Avatar called out, taking a ma.s.sive step from the forest as it did. A moment later, another blast of color flew from its ma.s.sive scepter, decimating another 7 skeletal mobs. The greater skeleton and two breakers made as if to bar the way, but the Avatar simply slammed them aside with its ma.s.sive s.h.i.+eld, seeming unconcerned by them.
Which made perfect sense. After all, James knew, though his players didn't, that the Avatar's were meant to be extremely powerful…considering they were, Avatars. A level 30 Avatar was going to be a lot stronger than summoned mobs from level 30, or even level 40, players. James was pretty sure the Avatar's were likely closer in strength to world bosses, or maybe even raid bosses. Either way, The Candied King was not going to be even slowed down for a moment by the mobs left to stop him.

"There is no escape from our divine light." BLANKs Avatar raised the scepter, pointing it towards one of the players of Trogdor's supposed party. The tootsie pop stopped s.h.i.+fting colors, changing instead to a golden light. A bright flash appeared, and suddenly the player froze in place, a golden cage around him. BLANKs Avatar let out a chuckle as it continued its advance. Unluckily for James's players, something towering 30ft had a much larger stride than those under 6ft.
"What is that thing." James wondered as he pulled up the Avatar's information once again. Normally ,when James pulled up player information, even BLANKs players, he could at least see their cla.s.s. However, the Avatar simply said Avatar. Meaning James wasn't going to learn anything about the skills of his opponent.
All he could tell, was that it was an elemental. Elemental was a race James had seen some sorcerers and wizards take. Elementals were a race geared towards being a caster, as they pa.s.sively had a small increase to their mana pool, as well as their mana regain rate. The other unique feature elementals had was a slight increase in any elemental damage added to a spell. It was slight, obviously, but as did all the other race bonus's, it scaled every 10 levels. Meaning the Avatar Research Level 6 BLANK over there, was benefitting from a level 30 race bonus.
However, Elementals were a squis.h.i.+er race than some of the other magical options, which was why they weren't as common as one would expect. They had a lower natural defense and health pool, as well as lower physical attributes. Which meant the obvious heavy armor that the Avatar was wearing, did not make sense.
"I'm guessing it's a secret cla.s.s." Rue was a.n.a.lyzing the Avatar just as much as James was, while their players got picked off one by one. BLANK seemed to be enjoying utilizing that golden light to cage the players as they ran. So far, four of the seven players had been caged. Only Trogdor, FlashFyre, and Axel42 were free. However, BLANK was drawing up to the first player it had caged, the Avatar's eyes glowing evilly.
"That's not good." James muttered, wincing slightly as The Candied King stepped on the poor adventurer, causing him to instantly burst into a glowing orb. That was just wrong. Like, seriously, at least kill the poor adventurers in an honorable manner. Stepping on them was just messed up.
"Nope." Rue continued looking over the Avatar, her eyes narrowing as she watched the scepter glow. It was still glowing golden, and another flash shot out towards the fleeing adventurers. It was headed directly towards FlashFyre, but just before it could hit her, Trogdor leapt into the path of it.
The Dragonkin was instantly snared in a glowing cage, while FlashFyre stumbled, but managed to keep going.
"Thanks, little man." FlashFyre called back as she continued fleeing. Axel42 glanced back at his caged brother. The dragonkin made eye contact with Axel42 and flashed him a reptilian thumbs up. A moment later, he turned towards the approaching Avatar, watching as The Candied King stepped on another of James's players. Like, seriously, that was extremely disrespectful.
"Your efforts are futile before our might." BLANKs Avatar called out again. James was really getting tired of hearing that voice. Also, he wasn't sure if somehow both of BLANKs players were controlling that Avatar, or if they were simply roleplaying their Avatar. Roleplaying the plural would make sense, as James knew old Royalty used to do just that. Leave it up to BLANK to style themselves off of old royalty.
"What's that?" Rue pointed out to James as they watched BLANK stomp on another player. There was just one more before the Avatar made its way to Trogdor, and the scepter was glowing again with a golden light. James was pretty sure the spell BLANK kept using was a Paladin spell, which would make sense given the heavy armor. However, the colorful rainbow-colored blast the Avatar had used earlier was not a Paladin spell. It was a sorcerer spell. Which helped James out a little. He knew Rue had some knowledge regarding secret cla.s.ses, so if he mentioned his two suspected cla.s.ses of the Avatar to her, there was a chance the pixie might know what exactly BLANK had made. And if they knew what BLANK was, he could better prepare for the other skills or abilities the Avatar might possess.
However, what the pixie was pointing to, made James's question flee his tongue. In their panicked run away from The Candied King, Axel42 and FlashFyre had strayed from the path they had initially taken during the d.i.c.ken charge. They were still heading towards James's side of the FoB, but in a more roundabout way. That way, apparently, matched the direction the super mutants and zombie from BLANKs dungeon had been ambling upon, during their apparent search for living things to attack.
"That, has got to be the most convenient stroke of luck I've seen in a while." James whispered. The tootsie pop scepter glowed golden, and the light launched itself towards FlashFyre once more. Just as it neared her, the necromancer dove towards the first super mutant she could see. The momentum from her dive forward brought her past the super mutant just before the golden light could touch her. As a result, the spell, which James was 99percent sure was called Inquisition's Cage, was a long-range Paladin binding spell. However, because of the enhance range, it targeted the first living enemy creature in its path. It was essentially a snare that could be lobbed at enemies who were either running away, or approaching too quickly, as a way to control crowds of mobs.
James wasn't sure if FlashFyre knew that about the spell, but by pus.h.i.+ng herself past the Super Mutant, who James knew was now counted as an enemy to not only FlashFyre and James's adventurers, but also BLANKs forces, the poor mindless mutant got caught in the spell instead of the fleeing necromancer. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, she continued her sprint, with Axel42 half a dozen feet ahead of her. The super mutants and zombie that had been ambling towards them were quickly pa.s.sed and turned mindlessly to move after the fleeing prey.
"They're going to make it." James whispered excitedly. With the super mutants and zombie following after Axel42 and FlashFyre, BLANK's avatar no longer had a way to snare them. Judging by the flash of annoyance across the Avatar's face, James knew BLANK had realized that as well.
"Very well fools." The scepter disappeared from BLANKs hand just as the Avatar finished stepping on the fourth adventurer. With a couple of swift steps, BLANK was standing before the snared Trogdor, who was flipping off the Avatar defiantly.
"Allow me to show you the true power you stand before." BLANKs call echoed out and held such a cruel venom in it that James and his players winced. The Avatar reached down and picked up Trogdor, who, to his credit, did his best to stab and bite BLANK. Of course, it was pointless, given the Avatar's defensive ratings, and health pool, which James guessed were ma.s.sive, if he were on a World Boss level.
"Put me down you son of a –" Was all Trogdor got out of his mouth, before his entire body began to glow with a golden light. James watched as the dragonkin was reduced to a glowing orb, which began to grow even larger and brighter withing BLANK's hand. The Avatar grinned evilly and pulled back his arm. The Avatar reared back, like he was getting ready to throw a baseball, before he flung the glowing orb that was Trogdor towards the fleeing adventurers, super mutants, and zombie. The orb continued to glow brightly as it soared through the air.
"Behold, the Inquisitor's Holy Hand Grenade." The Candied King chuckled darkly as the orb impacted just in front of Axel42. On impact, Trogdor's glowing orb burst apart into a brilliant blast of golden light. James could see the radiant energy erupt outwards, and his heart sunk as everything, Axel42, FlashFyre, the super mutants, and sadly the zombie, were reduced to nothingness. The Avatar grinned, before turning back towards BLANK's side of the FoB. A moment later, the ma.s.sive form disappeared into the fog of war, and out of James's line of sight.
"Did he just…" James shook his head, trying to process what had just happened. Either BLANK knew about Monty Python, and had made the same type of joke James had heard Med Ic make, or the Avatar really had a skill called Inquisitor's Holy Hand Grenade. Either was possible, but either way, it just felt wrong to James. BLANK was not allowed to make jokes like that. And while James had to admit the Avatar seemed formidable indeed, James was still fairly certain he and his players could bring BLANK down.

"s.h.i.+t." James silently cursed as the window appeared before him. He still hadn't come up with his character concept for his Avatar, and now he had less than a minute. Luckily, he had been brainstorming it before, and while he wasn't 100 percent happy with it, he figured it was the best he could do. Besides, he didn't have much of a choice now, considering he was about to be summoned. Without a second to spare, James finished putting in his t.i.tle, before a bright light completely engulfed him, and was suddenly no longer a floating orb in the sky.
