Ella's voice sounded out from next to me. I had just finished reading her a story and she was sprawled out like a cat on the couch. She had started doing this recently, I have no clue where she learned it from, but I didn't mind too much, it made me feel normal.

If only a bit.

Another thing she had learned recently was the 'puppy dog eyes', and she was sending them my way right now. She really liked it when the connection between us was working. I had kept it down to a minimum over the last few weeks once I realized something.

Finally starting to deal with my demons after the ma.s.sacre I decided to look at my status. I hadn't taken a look at it even once since I got here. I sent a small glance at it now.

I had gained no experience from then, as all of it had been funneled to Ella and her evolution, I guess it was also used to evolve me and Rose. Because of that I was still stuck at 0% of level 20. We hadn't left the library since we got here and thankfully once she evolved, Ella no longer craved to eat.

Don't get me wrong, I was sure that she would enjoy eating anything that came her way, but until now even after a good 3 months she hadn't needed to eat. It was a polar opposite from when she was first born, needing to feed to live and keep her rationality.

And with her I also didn't have to Eat, Rose to. All of us after the evolution no longer required eating, or more likely didn't need to eat yet.

It was a good thing as I had no clue if there were any infected outside to eat. Ella had cleared out the whole town and I think most of the surroundings from all infected. Plus this weird library might disappear if one of us left.

Its grand nature and mana infused objects denoted that this place was special. I was sure that it would disappear after we left. And there was quite a lot to read before we did.

The main things to note with my status, was the new race that I had and my t.i.tles. I was now a 'High Human' I had no clue what that meant for my future or if my biology had changed, I remember reading about them in books from time to time.

Meant to be the pinnacle of the human species, they would have extended lifespans, greater power and perfect bodies compared to normal humans. I hadn't noticed a difference in my general appearance though, but I was sure I would find out as time continued.

A new function had been added, t.i.tles. I mainly felt it was to mock me really, it listed out all the bad things I have done. I tired thinking of them to see if they would give me more information but only one thing came up.

I didn't even know I could get a higher level of a.n.a.lyze, or a different skill that could do the same. But I wouldn't be able to find out what those t.i.tles really did until a later date.

More things to note were the increase in level of a few skills. Even though I was gaining no Exp while I was in here, I could still increase my skills. My Ice skill had evolved just recently to level 6 as I continued to use it constantly.

With the increase in its rank I was gaining a higher 'Ice Resistance' but it wasn't linear with the level and was somehow at 40%, instead of 30 or 60 as I might have thought. I figured that it was because of the prolonged contact between my skin and ice that was increasing the resistance.

'Frozen rage' had increase in level as well as 'Soul bound'. Soul bound was the new skill that had come about after the evolution. It wasn't the only one but it was the most important. I kept the connection between us blocked periodically these days, not just because of them sleeping.

It was also a fact that as my control over the connection grew the skill had leveled. It was best for me to gain a better understanding of the skill and increase its level. Better than spending points on it.

My const.i.tution had changed again; it was now a mix between Ella and my new const.i.tution that made the 'Inviolable const.i.tution'. I would now gain 25 attribute points flat before having to place my other 6. This was way better than the 9 points I would get in my physical attributes.

Honestly it was pretty broken looking at it. Because I kept the shared const.i.tution with Rose, she would also gain these benefits.

The rest of the skills I got where the same as my old ones, except slightly more powerful. There were only 2 that stood out. My 'Imperial growth' had changed. Somehow the combination of Rose's and Ella's skills had combined to make a new one called 'Demonic Kiss'.

The name was a bit weird but I knew just how powerful it could be. I hadn't used it yet, but as it was a combination between Roses' skill, which let her suck the life out of a person and Ella's own eating ability that let us grow exponentially, it had to be disastrous to use against a person.

And then there was finally the last skill, 'Progenitor'. The full cla.s.s up from what she was before. Ella had been an Empress, and I really had no clue what would be more powerful than that. I could have seen something like a monarch cla.s.s, but progenitor was a specific type of word.

Meaning origin in the basic sense, I had no clue what the limits of this ability could be. Not to mention what the skill would be like, if it ever reached a full 10/10 level. Could Ella even go higher than that?

Rousing myself from my thoughts I looked once again at Ella's puppy dog eyes and gave her a small nod, reconnecting us. I felt the thread between me, Ella and Rose release and a surge of emotions came in. If I concentrated hard enough I would be able to tell what they were thinking, and I think I could delve deeper.

I felt the happy emotions that were radiating from Ella, as she gave me a small hug. I patted her on the head then stood up. I could feel Rose in another room reading a book, I thought I would talk to her for a minute; it was about time we decided where we would go after leaving here.

I had no clue what the outside would be like after spending all this time in here, the infected could have reached heights and levels that I couldn't comprehend. For sure the advantage we had before we came here was all but gone.

And of an even higher priority I had no clue if the 'players' have arrived yet. If they hadn't, they would soon. But I could talk to her later, when she wasn't reading. I had something else I wanted to look at.

I got up and stretched my stiff muscles; I had been sitting for too long. Leaving Ella to her research, I left for a specific room.

It was the grandest part of the library we had stumbled upon. Many seats were placed about as there were empty pedestals everywhere. The pedestals had contained books and parchments from what I could tell.

They had all been taken by someone that had come before us. They must not have had enough room in their bag before they left and left some behind. But it was a measly amount. I didn't mind the empty pedestals as I made my way to the central desk.

It was a lot bigger than the rest easily 10 meters wide, meant for a large group to congregate. On the table the woods that had once been smooth was carved out.

You could tell by the deep grooves and irregular scratch marks around the small engraving, that the person that wrote the message was feeling anger as they carved.

I looked down at the words as I considered their meaning; I had come back here many a time to look at them. Something in the back of my mind compelled me too. The simple message as it sat their sent my mind into turmoil.

What was the true meaning?
