5. Jealousy

The next morning, there was another emergency at the hospital.

When the phone rang, Yu Luoyin hadn’t slept much. His eyes, however, cleared up after a few exchanges. He hurriedly got up, washed and dressed in a rush, then grabbed a few slices of cold bread from the kitchen fridge to fill his stomach, the whole process was as smooth as flowing clouds and running water.

–Before leaving, he never forgot to run to the bedroom and kiss Bai Xunyin under the covers.

Annoying yet heartwarming.

Bai Xunyin watched his back, feeling both amused and exasperated.

But this commotion had woken her up, so she got up to prepare breakfast.

While toasting bread in the bread maker, Bai Xunyin glanced at Yu Luoyin, who had hurriedly eaten a few bites of bread. Her empty gaze seemed pensive.

Perhaps they really should hire a nanny, and she shouldn’t continue to insist on the unwritten rule of ‘not allowing strangers into their private domain’. People needed to adapt to changes in life.

On the way to take Yu Baiqi to school, Bai Xunyin called Ah Mo and asked her to see if there were any reliable and capable aunties available to recommend.

Yu Baiqi, like a little adult, pondered for a moment and innocently asked, “Why doesn’t Sister Awu go to kindergarten?”

“Sister is still little.” 

Every time she mentioned ‘sister’, Bai Xunyin couldn’t help but think of Yu Luoyin’s nonsense whispers in her ear last night, feeling somewhat embarra.s.sed as she said softly, “She’ll go to kindergarten next year.”

So Yu Baiqi started counting on his small fingers.

Bai Xunyin watched him quietly, suddenly feeling that this little guy really meant what he said about wanting a sister.

It wasn’t just talk.

Bai Xunyin held Yu Baiqi’s hand and saw the teacher waiting at the cla.s.sroom door from a distance.

Indeed, as Yu Luoyin had said, she was a young girl, dressed simply and neatly, with a fairly attractive appearance. However, she seemed slightly stunned when she saw them approaching.

“I’m Yu Baiqi’s mother.”

“His father brought him here yesterday. How is he doing at school?”

She smoothly transitioned the conversation, leaving Wu Qingqing no choice but to follow along. Her voice was gentle, but her gaze couldn’t help but scrutinize the woman in front of her.

In fact, since seeing Yu Luoyin for the first time yesterday, Wu Qingqing had been curious about his wife, what kind of woman Yu Baiqi’s mother would be.

How could she compare to his wife, such a girl?

Finally, it was time for cla.s.s, and Wu Qingqing led Yu Baiqi into the cla.s.sroom.

Even his back seemed somewhat disoriented.

Bai Xunyin looked at him and shook her head helplessly.

Actually, seeing this Wu Qingqing in person, Bai Xunyin realized that she was just in her early twenties. She probably came to work right after graduating from college, still young and immature, with a simple mind that was easy to discern.

So she had never felt jealous. 

Now, with this sudden visit, it felt both unfamiliar and natural.

After all, given Yu Luoyin’s own conditions, it would be abnormal if there were no admirers around him.
