And really, he knew that at some point, while he was enduring it's roars, that he was no longer drawing on any mana or tantra he'd stored in his body, to keep everything up he was subst.i.tuting his life for whatever he was lacking. Even when he was pummeling it, he knew he'd drained almost all of it, but he was so tried he couldn't see it anymore between the exhaustion and the black outs.
At this point he had drips left in his gas tank and even that was flowing out of all the injuries in his body. "Hey boy, really outdone yourself there." Guru spoke, but he couldn't hide the concern in his voice, he probably knew as much Zhao Wei did, he was dying.
"Yeah... you should've been there old man, lot of fun..." He grinned, or he tried to, part of his lips were torn off in there, he didn't really know what trying with just his gums looked like, must've been horrible from the way the old man was looking at him.
"Yeah... I should have been there..." Guru looked down. "Would you like anything boy, anything at all?"
"Well water would be nice right now.. Aghk!" The little blood that was left in him came spilling out his mouth. "But then again, I'm not sure I'd be able to swallow it..." Zhao Wei chuckled, he coudln't laugh really, it hurt too much.
There was movement behind Guru, somebody was rus.h.i.+ng. In the next moment Kitsi came next to him, she was horrified at the look of his state, crying. Behind her, several other people came, he knew Eyisha was there, Jeff and Sola holding on to a man and woman he didn't know, hiding behind them at the sight of his horrific state. 'That really hurts' he thought to himself.
"Zhao Wei! Can you hear me" she shook his body.
"I.. I..." He tried to get the words out with difficulty.
"Yes, what is it? I'm here." She desperately begged.
"I can't... breathe..." He let it out, his words becoming softer.
"No!!" she cried even harder, before she heard his voice again.
"..With.. your hand... on.. my chest.. rib cage... broken" he finally finished.
She finally looked down, and indeed when she came to him, her hand had been leaning on his body. She picked it up from his body allowing him to have his excruciating breath back. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he was happy to have people that cared enough to cry for him, after being alone for so long and even when he met them he didn't think that he'd get to know them well enough.
If he'd had another chance, he thought maybe he should answer Kitsi's feelings. He wasn't an idiot, he knew she had feelings for him, but his head just wasn't there right now. And he had to look for that girl, so he always treated Kitsi like a friend. But he couldn't lead her on, he had to tell her he couldn't so that she could find her own way. If he had the chance he had to tell her.
"d.a.m.n you!! you should have just come back!" Kitsi slammed her fist on the ground next to him, blood trickling from her knuckles.
He really wanted to hold her hand, tell her she should treat her body better. But considering the state he was in, did he have the right to say that? Also he didn't have much time left. He could feel it, the cold of death was.h.i.+ng over him, starting from his toes and moving up to his torso.
"Hey...," He said drawing her attention as she cradled his head in her arm, "I'm sorry but I'm not going to be able to give you that gut punch I promised."
"You promised me two..." She knew what he meant, "You can't die you owe me too much..."
"Ah.. Yeah... I guess I do..." With those lines he closed his eyes, his last breath finally left him.
In that moment, his thoughts were that he didn't really want to die, there were things he wanted to do, but he guessed it was fine this way. As the feeling reached his throat it was like he was drowning, everything in his body stopped responding and was instead working to close him down for good, his tongue couldn't hold itself and entered his throat, luckily there wasn't air left for it to stop. Finally his thoughts became nothing but a blip as his brain told him it was time to sleep.
n.o.body wanted to meet death, but the embrace of it comforted him, maybe it'd be nice to rest after going through all that. Death wasn't kind, but he wasn't cruel either, just a guide to the final destination. He did not choose his victims, he was just always there when the time came, not concerned with what was unfinished or what was left behind.
