He had to time it just right. A slight miss and he might've really died the way Eyisha thought he would. He drew Eyisha's final strike after observing her movements and skills, he knew her capabilities and predicted where her strike could reach him and allowed it.
In the final moment, his s.h.i.+ft adjusted his position so that the trident struck the shackle first. He wasn't even sure if it would drain other Tantra's beside his own, the fact that it did was just a gamble on his part.
When he fell, he was in a state of euphoria as playing with death really did set him on edge, the fact that the shackle's weight changed meant he got to keep his life.
Next was the counterattack, he couldn't get his Tantra outside simply because the shackles would drain them as soon as he tried to release it. This was his next gamble. He gambled on the quality of Eyisha's weapon. Considering that she was royalty, her weapon should be able to conduct Tantra better than most equipment in the market. At least it should be able to absorb Tantra as good as the shackles.
When it entered his flesh, he directly injected his own Tantra into the emptied trident to attack her hands. If his conjecture was wrong, then with his one arm weighed down by the charged shackle, he'd be a sitting duck for her next strike.
By this point he had already won. But at the same time, he could barely move due to exhaustion.
Picking himself up, he dragged his one heavy arm until he was above her.
"What are you waiting for? Kill me." Eyisha spoke.
"You know, for a loser you sure are demanding." Zhao Wei spoke indifferently as he sat down next to her ma.s.saging his limbs.
"If you leave me alive, I will keep going after you. And after this you won't have another chance to touch me." She tried to provoke him.
"I don't think you will." He fished out a scroll from his pocket which had some b.l.o.o.d.y marks on it before throwing it down.
"What is that?"
"It's your disease, and it's cure." He scratched his head.
Her eyes widened, what does he mean? She thought to herself.
"Do you really think that a person wouldn't defend themselves after the first time you accuse them?" Zhao Wei said, "after your guards first chased after me, I tracked down the source of your troubles."
Well it was more like Myra did it. With her nose it was pretty easy to find people who had the same substance on them.
As soon as he found them, he quite literally ripped the truth out of them. "I do think the fat man I met the first time was involved... I heard he died but that should be impossible considering that he's here."
"Hahaha! Good lad, you keep s.c.r.e.w.i.n.g up my plans for some reason." A voice rang out from one of the buildings. "But I guess I can live with it, considering that you foil all the plans of my niece as well."
"You know it's quite rude to watch people without their consent." Zhao Wei mocked, "with your looks if I met you on the street I'd already peg you as a pedophile."
Jyaha stepped out into the open. "I don't know what you mean but I believe I should be angry over it..." he continued, "I commend you for finding out this much but there is one thing you're wrong about..." Zhao Wei's brows lifted up. "I was really quite dead."
"You couldn't have!!" Eyisha screamed as her eyes went wide with horror.
"Unfortunately my lovely niece I did." A flash of pain pa.s.sed through his eyes.
The fang, admittedly a snakes greatest weapon. For many species this held the venom they used to kill their prey.
By some stroke of fortune, the female of the Naga retained their fangs, but it did not hold poison to kill their enemies. Instead, life to protect their loved ones.
Once a Naga female bit into her lover she would be transferring her life over to him, killing herself. Essentially giving him a second chance should death knock on his door. Of course the rule was that she needed to have affection for him, else the bite would have no effect whatsoever.
Of course, no lover would want to steal his love's life for himself, so through their marriage a ceremony would be held where during the bite, only about 50% of her life energy would be transferred over to the male. It would not protect him should he be killed instantly, but if he still retained breath it could help them heal.
With that, before every war there would be large wedding ceremonies held where many lovers would come and complete the process. It signified not only their romance but also a prayer for their return.
The effects were always stored in the body until such a time where the person's life was threatened before manifesting itself.
There was one exception to the rule, a taboo even amongst the vilest of Naga. A woman in love, could pluck off her fangs, but there was no half measures, she would lose her life without question as the ultimate act of love on her part. But it would be considered the ultimate act of betrayal for the male.
The plucked of fang was a miracle medicine. As long as the body was intact, within 24 hours after death the person could be revived.
Jyaha's words could only mean one thing.
