Jason slowly opened his eyes and looked at the phone laying just beside him on a small nightstand beside his bed. Opening his tired eyes, Jason picked up his phone and looked down at the time displayed on the still beeping phone.
[04:50 – 31-12- 2019]
"…"
Just looking at the clock, Jason felt tired in his head, but after spending the next 10 minutes lying in bed, debating whether or not to get up and out of bed.
*Beep Beep Beep*
His alarm clock started going off again… Opening his phone, Jason looked at the uncountable amount of alarms with a 10-minute s.p.a.ce in between each other… He really knew himself too well…
"hah…"
Sighing a little, Jason looked at the clock on his phone once again before heading out of bed and jumping straight into a warm shower. Getting himself cleaned and ready before work started.
[06:55 – 31-12-2019]
After an hour-long journey on a bike, Jason finally managed to make it to work on time. Thinking to himself as he prepared himself for the day ahead, Jason really wondered why he would even bother having such a boring and hard job while almost getting paid nothing in return.
'Was it really worth it? Could I not use my time on something better? Is this really what I want to use my time on?'
Thinking about all kinds of nonsensical things, Jason finally finished getting ready and made his way out of the staff changing room. All to start a new day at work… Just another meaningless day…
[15:07 – 31-12-2019]
Getting home from another day of exhausting work, Jason fell flat onto his bed exhausted beyond belief.
"Jason! We will leave at 17!"
Hearing the voice coming from somewhere else in the house, Jason finally remembered that today was new years and he was supposed to partic.i.p.ate in a new year's party together with his family and some close friends.
"Okay mom, I will be ready…!"
Wanting to turn down his mother, Jason did nothing and just answered positively to her. Afterall, how could he turn down his mother, who had prepared for the new year's and probably even answered positively that he came without asking him?
"Hah…"
Feeling even more exhausted than usual, Jason got up from his bed and sat in front of his computer, deciding to just watch some videos online and surf the internet until the time to leave came.
[22:43 – 31-12-2019]
The new year's party went as expected so far and was nothing special, Jason was tired and could not really get himself to do anything and decided to just sit somewhere isolated to play on his phone while waiting for the clock to finally hit midnight, so he could go home and get some sleep.
*bang crackle bang crackle crackle*
Looking outside the window, Jason saw fireworks going of everywhere… People really wanted to see fireworks go off, as they had been going of the entire day so far.
'Is it really so exciting that another year have pa.s.sed…? What is so special about today, isn't it just another normal day?'
Jason did not really understand what was so special about new year's, Jason went to work like normal, woke up like normal and was tired like normal… Though if there was anything special, it would be that work was more exhausting than usual.
[00:43 – 01-01-2020]
Fireworks were going off everywhere around and Jason was riding his bike heading home. Jason had decided to leave the new year's party soon after they had welcomed the beginning of another year and politely bid everyone present at the party farewell before leaving.
Driving his bike, Jason reached a field laying towards the place he had been at to the new year's party and home. It was something Jason thought of as a midway point between the two places.
Looking at the fireworks going of all around him, Jason stopped and got of his bike.

The sound of the fireworks was not that loud as there were no houses close by and the field to his side provided a great view of the fireworks in the distance.
"The fireworks are truly beautiful today…"
Saying that, Jason slowly felt his view going dark. The last thing he could see were the colourful fireworks going off in the distance.
