**Disclaimer

I am only giving my opinion, and please feel free to disagree. Please don't hate/bully/dislike the "novel" just because of my opinions. The purpose of the Q/A is to prompt YOUR thinking. Thank for reading this. (I'm, by all means, just an amateur. I don't study psychology nor philosophy. I'm just giving my point of views on these broad, undefined questions.)

As the most of you already know, evolution is a long-term process where the inheritable characteristics of a biological population change over generations. Evolution is extremely beneficial to a population. It can increase our chances of survival as the body adapts to different conditions. Because of evolution, we can survive in this world more easily. So obviously, the purpose of evolution is to increase our survivability right? Increasing the chances of survival means that we are more likely to reproduce, less likely for a species to be completely extinct. We never get to control evolution though (let's ignore genetic modification and selective breeding). Well, why do our bodies choose to evolve? Instead of pa.s.sing down the genes, why can't our body somehow develop certain characteristics for us to live forever, or at least live longer?

We get to enjoy the benefits of evolution. We are immune to more diseases, and the human population is constantly improving (according to Darwin's Natural Selection Theory). This, however, is all about benefiting our next generations. Why do our bodies do this? Good genes are, indeed, pa.s.sed down, but the "owner" of the body would still die. Since we can't interfere with evolution, we can infer that our body naturally wants to help our next generation. Our body clearly shows that they have the capabilities to change our genes, so why don't they somehow invest their time in breaking through the shackles of mortality? Although it's much harder, with billions and billions of people, at least a few can succeed, right? Well, clearly not.

So what does this prove? I think that there must be some natural laws that we, as humans, must follow. We will never be able to become immortal because that goes against the so-called laws. Although I'm unsure about the existence of G.o.d, I think someone must have "created" us - as humans. We can evolve, and humans should continue to exist, but we will never break through the shackles of morality. There seems to be a "limit" to our evolution. We had changed drastically, compared to the first generation of humans which are apelike. Our lifespan, however, has barely changed. So the purpose of evolution is to just increase our chances to survive and to reproduce. But it doesn't really work in OUR favour. Our lifespans still have roughly stayed the same (if you don't count the medical facilities, more knowledge of diseases and stuff).

Why do we even evolve? Just so that our future generations can have a greater chance to survive, who will eventually die? That's for you to think about.
