"Didn't we just talk about this? It wasn't more than a few days ago that I specifically told you to lay low and stay out of trouble, how is it we haven't even been on this planet for five minutes and I already see you with a knife in your hand and a half dead person under it?" Vance was trying his hardest to maintain his calm but his crackling voice was giving away how upset he was.
"Sarah's mom screamed out and when I looked over one of the men had Sarah by the arm trying to take her away. I yelled out for them to stop and that upset whoever that is over there. He sent someone to beat me and so I stopped them. After that I even offered to pay off their debt as I heard the crowd talking about how they scam and cheat people, I was really trying to abide by what you said. Even after I offered to pay, he threatened me telling me he was going to send me to the mines and have me slowly killed. Should I have just let them take away Sarah? Should I have just let them beat me? Should I have let him threaten my life? It was only after everything I described that I decided to attack." Aker's was aggrieved at Vance's innuendo. Aker understood perfectly well Vance's instructions but he was pushed into the corner unwillingly step by step with no ability to calm the situation down or stop it from happening.
Vance who wanted to continue to chide Aker for his mistake was left confused as to how to proceed. Could he tell Aker to just watch as Sarah was taken away? No, that wasn't possible. Could he tell Aker to just let the servant beat him? Again, another impossible scenario, the question itself is moronic. After Clyde sent someone to beat him and even told him that he was going to be sent to the mines and slowly killed should Aker have just willingly accepted his fate? That's an even stupider question than should Aker just let the servant beat him.
Aker seeing that Vance had no reb.u.t.tal for his comments suddenly felt a tinge of vindication and proceeded to explain his thoughts, "Once I decided to attack I thought 'in for a penny, in for a pound' so I might as well kill him and eliminate the problem at its source."
Hearing Aker's words Vance couldn't necessarily disparage his thought process but his thinking was to naive. Vance looked down at Aker and changed his continence completely as he spoke, "After you killed him then what?"
Aker looked up at Vance his brows pressed together in obvious confusion "Then nothing, he's dead, he can't attack me and Sarah any further. No one around here knows me or Sarah and this is a big planet."
"Aker, do you really think that the family behind this young man couldn't find you just because the planet is big? Even if you were to leave this planet and go to another, they would be able to find you. Never underestimate the power of influence and money. Most certainly if you would have killed that young man over there the family behind him would have spared no expense to hunt you down as you attacking him is the same as attacking the whole family. If they didn't hunt you down the entire family's reputation would be sullied and would indubitably result in their families decline."
As Aker and Vance were speaking a commotion broke out in the transfer yard as more and more men showed up.
Vance stopped his conversation with Aker and turned his attention to the group walking over. Besides the dozen servants there were three extremely well-dressed men who were wearing clothes that matched Clyde's. As the three moved in sync it emphasized the charisma of the clothing and its clas.h.i.+ng colors.
The man in the center of the three was clearly the one in charge as his aura and presence outshone the other two, his way of carrying himself lent to the idea that he sat above the ma.s.ses.
In his early thirties with blond short hair there wouldn't be many women who wouldn't fawn over a man with his presence and his look.
As this thirty-year-old man walked towards Vance he was clearly able to see a half dead Clyde laid out still unconscious. The thirty-year-old merely snapped his finger and pointed and two servant's broke formation and ran over to pick up and carry Clyde off.
Aker watched as Clyde disappeared into the crowd a slight sneer still left on his face, he still felt aggrieved by Vance's earlier questioning.
"What should the punishment be?" The thirty-year-old blond male asked Vance, the contempt he had for Aker and his group was clear as he didn't try and hide it.
Vance didn't answer and nonchalantly started to turn his back and walk away, he pointed to Aker, Sarah and her Mom and told them "Let's go, we are already running late because of your antics earlier. Next time if an idiot gets in your way, I won't stop you, but you better make quick work of them. No wasting time in the future like you did today, to think we are running so late because some pathetic bug didn't understand its place."
As Vance spoke, he was sure to enunciate each word and character so the thirty something year old could hear him. He had called Clyde a bug who slowed them down and scolded Aker for not having beat him faster.
The blond man was stunned as were the two next two them. This blond man had heard about Clyde getting beat and he came over to dish out punishment. Clyde's parents were minor officials in Livingston City and this blond man was here to squash the perpetrator and establish his might. This blond man was the son of the City Lord and all the officials from the lowest that Clyde's parents were to the highest Prime Minister were all at his dad's bidding.
When he came up and asked how he should punish them he was expecting that Vance would be s.h.i.+vering in fear. He had antic.i.p.ated them begging for forgiveness and after he had his fill of begging, he would have them all sent to prison. After they were jailed, he would arrange for Clyde's parents to seek out a punishment and then Clyde's parents would be grateful to him and support his ambitions.
It was completely outside of his plan and expectation that not only would Vance not cower in fear but that he would scold the young boy next to him for not swiftly beating Clyde and was upset because they were running late.
With clear anger and rage the blonde man spoke "Do you know who I am? Do you understand the mistake you just made? Do you....."
"No tell me who you are, I would like to know the name of the person who is causing me to run even later than I am." Vance interrupted him which further shocked the blonde-haired man. The blond-haired man was interrupted just as he was getting ready to go into his Segway about how Vance didn't understand the immensity of heaven and earth. He would explain how much Vance would regret his words before he was suddenly cut off creating an awkward and anticlimactic feeling for the crowd who was watching.
"I..I...I'm the Young Master of the City Lord of Livingston City Sebastian Livingston...." As he called out his t.i.tle and name Sebastian looked to Vance waiting to now finally see the aghast face he had antic.i.p.ated earlier. He stuttered over his words as he tried to gain his momentum back after being interrupted. As Sebastian watched, his voice trailed off and he stopped speaking after giving his name because it evident that Vance, Aker, and Sarah were all indifferent to his proud proclamation. Only Sarah's mom was showing the abject fear that he had hoped for.
"Great, now that I know you can move out of our way." As Vance spoke, he released his aura which included his Source Core Wood magic fighter level as well as his ice cold killing intent. Mixed in with his aura was also the majestic and n.o.ble aura he had built up over the years as he learned under the previous Underground King.
Sebastian was immediately struck by the power of the man in front of him. A Source Core Wood magic fighter was a strong enough force to cause havoc through the entire Livingston City or even perhaps through the whole of the Starston area. This was a person that he absolutely didn't want to offend at this time.
"Sir, this one is sorry to have held you up. Please let us know if there is anything you need while you're in our Livingston City. I just wanted to come over and find out how we could punish that Clyde who offended you, that was all I meant by the earlier question. Since you're in a hurry we will determine the appropriate punishment all on our own." Sebastian lowered his head and apologized, even if he could borrow someone else's guts he wouldn't mess around with the person in front of him.
'I have to leave and go let dad know right away. To have someone this strong in our city is a disaster waiting to happen.' Sebastian just wanted out of the transfer yard so he could go and tell his dad about this person.
'I really didn't want them to find out that a Source Core Wood level magic fighter was here, but I suppose it was bound to happen. Since its come to this right away I might as well establish my presence right from the start.' Vance didn't want to expose his group and amazingly it had happened and they hadn't even been on the planet for ten minutes. That just meant that Vance's thinking was wishful and no matter what they did they were bound to expose themselves.
"What about this girl over here? This all started because someone didn't understand his place and tried to s.n.a.t.c.h one of my people away, should I just hand her over?" Vance's whole bearing had changed drastically since he exposed himself to Sebastian.

Aker who watched from the side was shocked silly, his mouth was open his eyes wide. In the entire almost three years that Aker had known Vance he had never seen him this majestic, this imposing, this domineering. In fact, the entire time that Aker had known Vance he had always taught Aker to be subtle. Any time Aker mocked anyone or anything Vance was there to punish him for it. Like the time he mocked the Fire Ape in the arena, or the time he bowed to the luxury box. The only time that Aker could think that Vance didn't chide him for being a little mocking or domineering was when he sent the letter to Alex.
Now, however, Aker watched as Vance who had just told him a few days ago to be low key was the most domineering and brilliant man he had ever seen. His presence was suppressing everyone around, it gave the feeling that one should admit their mistakes and not look him in the eye.
"No of course not, we will be sure to clear up any confusion with Clyde and his family. Clearly this was their mistake. There is no issue with you all leaving and no one will come to make trouble for you or her." Sebastian didn't hesitate to send the group on their way, a smile on his face as Vance looked at him.
Aker who saw the smile on Sebastian's face couldn't help but compare it to a snake, it was hiding its poisonous strike.
As Sebastian watched the group leave the transfer yard the smile he had a moment ago disappeared and his cold words called out, "Arrest everyone who witnessed what just happened. We can't let a single person disparage the Livingston name."
Sebastian would have everyone arrested so that no one could hear of the humiliation that him and Clyde had suffered. The people that he had arrested would never surface again. After arranging for the crowd to disappear Sebastian left to go inform his dad of the events that had just taken place.
As Aker and Vance were walking away Aker was staring up at Vance his mind full of questions.
"What?" Vance who could feel the piercing gaze of Aker asked annoyingly. He was annoyed that his well thought out plan was spoiled the instant they arrived on the planet. If his plan fell apart within minutes didn't that mean it was in fact an idiotic plan to begin with?
"Why did you do that? Why were you so imposing and domineering? Weren't we trying to be low key and una.s.suming? Wasn't the plan to not stick out?" Aker wanted to understand why Vance was suddenly so overpowering.
"Perhaps it was wishful thinking on my part that we could quietly grow here. Everything I told you about the hierarchical system is true. Everything I told you about the pettiness of the elite and n.o.ble groups is accurate. That doesn't mean there aren't some exceptions but as a general rule it holds water. Let me ask you something Aker, why don't we storm in and get revenge on The Pit right now?"
Vance stopped his train of thought and counter asked Aker a question.
Aker thought about it for a moment and came to a conclusion rather easily "Because we're not strong enough." As Aker answered he looked to Vance to verify his answer.
"Precisely, we are not strong enough, with strength nothing else matters. Strength trumps hierarchies, it trumps elites' pride, it trumps vengeance. In the face of strength those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds who would kill you for disagreeing with them and shaming them would grovel on their knees and thank you for letting them grovel."
"Then why are you telling us to lay low and not stand out, if you already have that kind of strength then we can openly grow and...." As Aker spoke his words got louder as he talked with more excitement in his voice.
"Hahahahahahahaha....so what about some Livingston City. Even if I am the most powerful person who has ever stepped foot in this city do you think it matters. Thankfully you didn't kill today otherwise there would have been no way to walk back. Today those conniving b.a.s.t.a.r.ds calculated that the losses would not cover the gains of trying to suppress us. I showed my strength because I knew that they wouldn't want to risk a confrontation. Don't mistake or confuse that for invincible, what happens when tens of strong fighters show up? If that's not enough hundreds or thousands? I was pushed to show my strength so they would leave us alone for today, but make no mistake about it. If I would have pushed back too hard in that situation they would have certainly gone on the offensive. Even now they are probably planning on how to deal with me. This was a card I wanted to save for later, but now that its exposed its exposed, there isn't anything we can do about it." Vance nodded his head in slight regret. His being a Source Core Wood fighter would have been an excellent trump card if later the situation deteriorated, but now that the City Lord knows they will certainly make preparations.
"Anyways let's go, we are headed over to the Livingston City Merchant District." Vance sighed and decided it wasn't worth thinking on any longer, what's done is done. At least they were able to get out of the situation and clear Sarah and her mom's debt.
