Upon arriving at a small rise quite close to the EverShade tree, I started army crawling up the ground, and peeled over the edge down to the wolf den.

What greeted my sight was ground caked in blood, with dead wolves scattered about and some people there as well.

There was a man who appeared human with blonde hair, probably late 30's, and his intestines were spread about the forest floor. There was another human, a woman, same age or close to it I'd guess, with crimson red hair, who's throat was torn out.

Finally there was a girl only about 14 years it looked, similar to my bodies current age, with wounds all over, and a metal collar around her neck, connected to a chain.

I could also see that her hair was raven black in color, and had some form of animal ears on her head. She was a Beastkin slave!

However, the magic within her was still gathering, which meant she was alive(all living beings pa.s.sively gather and emanate mana).

After observing a bit longer, I decided that at cost of their lives, the duo had killed all the wolves, while the slave girl was knocked out early on which is why she was left to the side.

I went down the rise and knelt next to the two humans, closing their eyes and simply said "Rest. Your journey has ended." As I said this, rose pink flames spread from my hand and solely consumed their bodies.

I don't know where the words, or the strangely rose pink flames came from, but they felt right.

I then headed over to the girl, who I decided at closer range was likely some form of feline combination, based on her smooth black furred tail and pointed ears.

Suddenly my desire to have her live skyrocketed. She was a neko! She was a genuine cute cat girl!

I could see a small nose with finely boned cheeks and a narrow chin with her pet.i.te form, lending to a pixie-like appearance, along with the faintly visible muscles in her arms and legs.

I knelt next to her and with a cry of "Healing Light!" The golden light began to s.h.i.+ne. It was healing the small cuts and such, but those deep wounds... I could even see her muscle s.h.i.+ning wetly through the wounds...

I didn't consciously decide anything, but rather instinctually knew healing light wasn't the sort of magic for this. The golden light began to s.h.i.+ft, as it took on the appearance of bright golden fire, as the words came to my mouth on their own; "Sacred Flame!"

I could feel the light and fire elements interacting with her body, could feel as the fire sought of slivers of wood, saliva from the wolves, and the foreign invasive elements, and burned them out of her.

As this happened the light s.h.i.+elded her from the heat, and rejuvenated her body, not healing it, but providing vitality to prolong her life, and speed up the healing process.

Finally the fire began to burn her open blood vessels, cauterizing the wind to prevent more blood loss, but doing it to the bare minimum.

This entire process used my full concentration and took about 70 seconds in total just to purify and stop the bleeding in one arm.

I immediately checked my remaining mana, and seeing the process had taken the same amount of mana as FoxFire and Healing Light(it didn't use much magic energy really, just a lot of concentration), so I still had 89 left, considering I'd been using Healing Light before.

Actually, all my current spells cost 5 Mana for one use, as long as I didn't keep it going too long. I'd determined that after 60 seconds, each additional 20 seconds cost 1 MP.

Now I tried to cast Healing Light with my left hand on the newly cauterized and purified wound, as I shut out the sensations of knitting skin and muscle back together(albeit the muscle and blood vessels healed at a much slower pace), and focused on once again using my new Sacred Flames to start cleaning and sealing the hole in her leg.

After 3 minutes I had purified all the wounds, and cauterized them too, and had 67 MP left.

Healing Light was pretty good for making sure after that the burned cells wouldn't die, so no damage could result of closing the arteries and veins after the body healed.

Now I reached the issue of getting her to the Dungeon, as it was the only safe place I had. After all, as a gentleman, I can't let this poor neko be alone out here!

But the collar around the neck was beginning to irritate me, and the symbols enshrined it in left a bad taste in my mouth. But I decided it was likely enchanted, and I shouldn't mess around with it while out in the open.

I got a grip, and prepared to have to use all my strength to pick up her body, as people are kinda heavy, but to my surprise she felt very light.

After holding her in a basic princess carry, I adjusted it so my hand was on the back of her head, which had been hit hard earlier, knocking her out, and decided to decisively dump 17 Mana into a burst of Healing Light, in an effort to be sure.

The head is fragile after all. And earlier when looking at the magic of the world and seeing she was alive, something seemed off about the energies in her head.

Also yes, in case you're curious, even with 2 fireb.a.l.l.s, FoxFire still only costs 5 mana. It doesn't make much sense to me, but the physics in this world aren't necessarily like anything I know, so I accepted it.

Putting 10 mana into FoxFire couldn't make another fireball, but would double the power of each fireball, so I guess that kinda makes sense.

So effectively, my Healing Light on her head had about 3 1/2 times the usual power.

So I headed back at a light jog, carrying the neko girl, the first living person I'd "met" in this world.
