"Hm. I'm like still 86% sure this is a sneaky h.e.l.l, but my theory that I got sent to Heaven while the other half is in h.e.l.l is seeming more and more likely to me."

I had been walking for about 20 minutes now, and could see a city top of a lower hanging cloud. An ornate staircase connected it to the ground, so I hoped I could go up there and speak to whatever beings lived there.

I could see SOME kind of motion from it at least, so I'm a.s.suming something is in fact there.

"I wonder what's happening to the dark me right now?"

***

"AAAAAH! FOXFIRE!"

I sent another wave of fireb.a.l.l.s at the now 3 demon-creatures I've affectionately named "Deadly-roly-poly's" based on their ball-like bodies. I've run through 5 floors now of this d.a.m.n tower, and these guys are kinda unkillable.

'Each time I hit them, they explode, regenerate after being stopped for awhile, and then continue coming after me!'

Also the way they move helped me name them, as they tuck their feet and head in, shrinking in their neck like a turtle, and roll after me. They propel themselves by their thin, stick-like and distorted arms.

The double-set of elbows really help them move FAST let me tell you. Like d.a.m.n.

But besides the point, HOW THE f.u.c.k DO I GET THEM TO DIE???

Cause they keep. Coming. After me.

'If I had all my soul power I'd try using music, but my soul is at half-strength at best, maybe less! My job cla.s.s is practically shot to pieces in these circ.u.mstances!'

I turned another corner, and the first 2 kept rolling, smas.h.i.+ng into the wall.

"Ha! You f.u.c.king idiots can't even turn a corner!"

The 3rd one came upon the corner, and I watched it hook an arm around the corner, and shove its other to smoothly swing around and charge at me.

"f.u.c.k!"

I jumped, running again, and channeled my panic.

I reached for fire, heat, energy.

'JUST HIT THE G.o.dd.a.m.n THING! Make it STOP!'

As if a trigger, energy began to form along my hands, crackling and bright.

'...oh. Right. Fire and lightning are both energy, duh. So that's how you use lightning magic.'

The lightning that was bright electric purple shot out, slamming into the demon on my a.s.s, and I swear I've never seen anything quite like a roly-poly of death going into spasms and twitching from lightning, when it was already rolling.

First it's neck shot out like a bullet, launching its own head into the ground like a spring, throwing itself up in the air.

Then it hit the ceiling, arms spasming wildly, and fell.

Finally the other 2 which had been catching up came underneath it, rolling along, just to have him land on them.

And the lightning I was STILL controlling to go in and out of him began chaining to the other two, leaving all 3 covered in scotch marks and spasming crazily.

'...wow that was effective. Not lethal, but highly affective.'

I gathered more lightning. "Lightning Shock!"

The forks of purple lightning once more were released, chaining among the 3.

'Okay, time to try something outta the box.'

Charges can be Negative or Positive. And until they touch a conductor, they keep that charge if it is made(rubbing wool of something is a good way to build negative charge).

So if I use the magic of lightning, a "charge" should be possible.

And if I charge one of these things positive, and the others negative(that's a lotta electron movement stuff I sorta remember but am in a rush to explain cause if I don't hurry they WILL get back up), wouldn't they be stuck?

'What word to use...? Magnetic Charge? Yeah that sounds about right.'

"Magnetic Charge!"

Interestingly enough, I watched as the purple lightning split into 3 bolts, of 2 colors. The ones I desired to be negative were blue, but the positive charge was red.

'What the-oh! I guess the laws of magnetism are slightly different in this world? Let's hope F=k(Qq/r^2) still holds true for magnetic field strength.'

The lightning hit, and sank into them. I put a LOT of mana into that, so perhaps the fact that I could see their wiry muscles straining just to pull an arm apart from their bundle of limbs shouldn't have surprised me so much.

'Wow I can't believe I remembered the formula for magnetic field strength.'

I built up some distance and blew up the ceiling, collapsing the corridor. Then I sealed the cracks with my favorite ice spell, Freezing!

Moisture gathered and froze, continuously as I kept going still not feeling safe.

When all that rubble became a meter-thick ice wall with rocks and gravel frozen within to raise its durability, I finally stopped.

'Wow I am just throwing my mana at things at this point.'

I breathed a sigh of relief, noting that using magnetic charge to attach enemies to something, then using Freezing on them might be a good idea.

'Actually... why didn't I use it to also freeze those 3 together as well as the charge? Gah! Too late now... hopefully the charge sticks for awhile, and my wall holds up.'

***

I walked up the ornate stairs, gilded in gold.

'This has been a very relaxing trip. Huh.'

I could hear a small tune, drifting on the wind from the city on high.

'Music? It sounds... piano, harp, cla.s.sical? Yes... cla.s.sical music is the right term.'

My favorite cla.s.sical tune popped in my head, and I began to whistle "Hall of the Mountain King".

I began thinking about music. In a less-broad sense, I thought about the song I was thinking.

Apparently there had once been a play about a boy who found himself in a mountain full of trolls, and avoiding the mountain king, the trolls. In other words, the music was a representation of his anxiety and the rush of hiding, sneaking through halls and avoiding trolls, from the perspective of a child.

In that I found that what I saw in it... was exhilaration. That joy adrenaline brings, of victory after a fight. What roller coasters give to those who enjoy them, THAT is what the song held to me.

And near unnoticed, the tune I was whistling changed.

Energy crackled in the notes, anxiety and the sense of antic.i.p.ation becoming adrenaline as the story changed, the song no longer a scared, hiding child, but a gleeful and mischievous boy running about, trying to trick the trolls and pull pranks as he hid.

And my whistles began to ring with power, as my mouth opened and notes poured out loud and clear as I walked up the stairs.

My legs moved faster, as I felt the need for the speed to escape, to hide, as the music climbed higher and higher in speed, until I was sprinting.

My body felt... different.

I tried taking deep yet quiet breaths, but I couldn't. My breathing was disrupting the rhythm, my body needed the air to move and speak but it was too much.

So I changed it. I breathed in, making it loud and sudden, and I made it a note.

My breaths became loud as well, as each breath In was a trumpet blaring as my voice in between made every other note, my vision blueing a bit as I pushed my body to that limit.

'My lungs are too weak, I need more air. I need my lungs to be STRONGER.'

It felt like hitting a wall, a realization so sudden my music cut off, my body collapsed against the stairs, heaving for air.

'I need... stronger lungs. Bigger, with more air. I need a higher efficiency with oxygen in my blood and body. If my body was built more efficient... but how?'

a.n.a.lyze, think. The body is built of cells, cells are mostly liquid, tissue builds up muscle, muscle contracts and relaxes to move, muscle strength can be both size and density, load on myself is weight and pressures...

'If I built my own body back together with magic, could I do better?'

Well. That's a sacrilegious thought. Lotta people would get mad at me for changing what they believe their G.o.d made perfect.

Life is a miracle. But it's not efficient. Your brain is a miraculous, awe inspiring construct, yet it so easily is broken and made unusable. Because it's not EFFICIENT. There are parts that don't need to be there anymore, parts of the human body we don't use but could, or don't need anymore.

For example, your appendix. It's an organ attached to or near your stomach(if I remember correctly), and it was used to break down hard foods and help digest things.

But in the modern age where we cook everything and have conditioned ourselves to die at the slightest bit of food poisoning, the appendix is near useless. It just takes up s.p.a.ce, and can get infected and need to be surgically removed.

But if you could rebuild your body... you could make a stronger, better stomach. Because we know from animals like goats which can survive eating anything that stronger versions exist.

So if you built a stronger stomach, a more capable liver to survive more toxins, or any number of things, you could open up s.p.a.ce by removing the appendix from your DNA to adjust an organ to a higher ability, maybe even just build a 2nd stomach or even rebuild yourself to have 2 hearts or something!

The point was that I was really thinking about this now, and for some reason I could feel a reaction... inside of me?

It was the energy in me, cycling and swirling as if excited by my thoughts.

'Wait... did I just step on the thing that can cause evolution?'

Evolution. To change to be more built towards a certain standard of life. To change oneself to an environment, or in this world, to change a body to fit your path.

"Huh." I slowly stood up and began to walk up the stairs again, mulling over my thoughts. "What kind of being should I become to truly be a Demonic Tunist?"

I then looked at myself. "Actually, I guess in this body there's nothing 'demonic' left in me. I'll call this half a Divine Tunist then? Just cause it bugs me to think of the Celestial half as having a demonic job cla.s.s."
