Zhi Hei continued to rub her hand as the back of his other hand brushed against her soft cheeks. He continued.."Let's have a deal. I'll confess everything in my heart to you, in exchange you wake up and smile again. I want to see you smile and hear you laugh. I want to hug you close to me and whisper sweet words to your ears as you blush. I want to push you on the swings again as you enjoyed the garden's view. I'm willing to do anything for you as long as you say it...so let's make a deal. Since you can't respond to me, I'll pinky promise you and stamp our thumbs together. Whoever doesn't fulfill it, will owe the other a lifetime vow" as his eyes became misty and voice a bit choked up.

Zhi Wei quickly wiped his eyes before clearing his throat and said "Come in"

Chen Mu delivered the herb medicine that smelled extremely bitter and looked as dark as black ink. "You need to find a way for her to consume the medicine or else it won't be effective."

Zhi Wei nodded as he lifted her up and positioned himself so that he can support her body using his. He blowed on the medicine until it is warm and won't burn her lips. The problem is that no matter how they opened her mouth and poured medicine in, it flowed back out. She doesn't know how to swallow the medicine...

... Zhi Wei quickly s.n.a.t.c.hed a pillow from the side of the bed and arranged it behind s.h.i.+ Xue so that she could lean against the bed. He took the bowl of medicine that had been cooled down and took out the spoon. He took a deep breath and then a mouthful of the nauseating medicine that was extremely bitter. Slowly, but surely, he fed the medicine to s.h.i.+ Xue mouth to mouth. Though the medicine is very nauseating to even smell, he didn't hesitate and quickly took action making sure she swallowed each mouthful that he poured in.

After he finished feeding her the bowl of medicine, he wiped her mouth before his own. He let her remain in the sitting posture for a while before laying her flat on the bed to make sure the medicine digested.

Chen Mu took the emptied bowl and left the two of them alone. After witnessing this scene, he understood how important this girl is to him. The cold devil who doesn't blink once when others died right in front of him is now caring for a girl to this extent. Sigh.. he shook his head helplessly as he focused on preparing the next patch of medicine.

Right when he reached the stairs on his way to the kitchen, he noticed a bead and some oil stains on the edge of the staircase on some of the steps. He knelt down and carefully inspected the stairs.

...Somebody purposely poured beads and oil on the stairs.. so that means, this isn't an accident. There might be a mole within the household.. s.h.i.+T!! Chen Mu said to himself as he rushed back to the room.

He rushed into the room and showed the bead in his hands to Zhi Hei as he panted heavily.

Zhi Hei looked at him with his left eyebrow raised, "Why are you showing me a bead?"

Chen Mu who was still catching his breath said in broken words: "Beads..oil.. stairs... "

Zhi Hei's eyes widened and said "YOU ..You don't mean that... her falling down those stairs wasn't an accident..?"

Chen Mu quickly covered his mouth and then took a glance to the hall making sure there wasn't anybody eavesdropping. He closed the door and nodded.

"I found the remains of oil by the edges of some steps and this bead was also there. There might be a mole in the family so you must watch your actions and words!" he said in a serious and low tone that only the two of them could hear.

Zhi Hei's fist clenched and his nails dug into his flesh creating deep purple marks on his palm.

"How..dare they.. I will find this person and whoever is involved and skin them alive!!" he squinted his eyes.

"The most important thing right now is to protect s.h.i.+ Xue and not let anyone harm her. From this moment on, only feed her the things I bring to you just in case! I will personally deliver the food and medicine to you, don't worry. Just stay by her side and we can keep watch of her together. "

Zhi Hei nodded and continued to hold her hands in his.
