I growled in pain as I jumped to the right, slamming into a puddle of mud. My cheeks were sc.r.a.ped by the thorns of the mud berries that hid inside the water. A spear flew past where I was a split second ago, hitting the trunk of a tree. Suddenly, the tree's branches morphed like tentacles, grabbing the spear from its trunk before throwing the spear back to its owner.
A loud thump could be heard before silence engulfed the jungle.
I gasped for breath as I hurriedly sat up, pus.h.i.+ng myself further away from the Cursed Tree.
The tree's branches slowly drew back, growing smaller and smaller until it looked like normal branches once more.

Suddenly a cold hand grasped my shoulder as an emotionless voice whispered my name.
"Calamitis."

I woke up with my heart pounding against my rib cage. I couldn't help but s.h.i.+ver even though I was covered in sweat.

I guess not.
I checked to see if Miceter was still asleep. Luckily I hadn't woken him up. If I had, I would no doubt worry Miceter. Right now, I can't think of an excuse if I had woken him up.
The sun was slowly crawling its way up the horizon, marking the start of a new day.

It took Miceter a while to wake up from his happy dreams. I didn't wake him up earlier because of the way he had mumbled in his sleep about chocolate and sports. I chuckled once or twice because of how silly it was.
Miceter stretched before saying: "I'm hungry."
