"So you are the new Missus Wong, for now." Dorota said unsteadily. "But I'll have you know that he is neither grateful nor kind. Henry, who is this woman you've found. She's not from our society. How will she understand our ways? She is a complete n.o.body that you have thrown to the wolves. A young child out with no one to protect her.
Ellie gave a fake smile before bowing deeply. "I understand your concerns that Henry did not marry a society lady of your choice. I'm sure with his intelligence and kindness and patience that he probably could have chosen any number of very wealthy women to hold my place. I always tell Henry that I am an unworthy Missus Wong, in this regard you are absolutely correct. I am no wife to this nephew of yours."
She looked very dignified and even composed as she moved to Henry's side to twine her hands around his. Her smile was even a bit seductive as she looked at him with a half lid l.u.s.ter. "I am in complete agreement that this is an unfit match between him and I. I don't have a merger behind me for Wong Industries or any business benefit or talent. But you know that our connection has stayed strong through all these years. I saw him and I couldn't stand it anymore so I caved and positively begged him to marry me. It's all my fault, please don't touch dear Henry. He's the innocent in all this." Her husband was stone cold with surprise as she said all of this so Ellie nudged his side and tried to be discreet with a wink at him so that he could play along. "I think with your superior maternal instinct that you know that no woman could really understand your nephew the way that you do. Aunt Dorota, I promise that I will live my life with the only purpose to try to fill in the shoes of the Great Wong women who have occupied them previously."
Henry's stone cold expression soon melted into the ghost of a smile around his mouth. His hand tightened around Ellie's as he brought her hand up to kiss it loudly. He looked at her adoringly before warmly adding, "Ellie love, you don't have to say such things. You are worth more than all of those women combined. I'm so lucky to have met such a capable young lady to bear me beautiful children and keep this house clean like a proper wife." He put her hand next to his face and leaned into it positively purring
