Henry quickly put her behind him and raised his voice, "Don't you forget your place? Your relation to my uncle is why I am being very tolerant of you, but don't push it."
The shaking accusing finger came very close to Henry's face as the woman's voice became shrill, "You . . . such a willful temper to disregard family and tradition. You bring disrespect to all the Wongs who came befpre you. How dare you! I was just hearing from your maid that you were recently wed. How delightful! Pah, just a month ago Wallace was trying to set up blind dates for you when you were pining after that woman who wouldn't have you. Now you have gone and done it." Her eyes were snake-like slits that hypnotized Ellie into confusion. What was she saying? "So since no one woulf have you found some weak n.o.body whose legs will open for you. How much did he pay for you prost.i.tute? Did you work the streets or were you an escort he lured away from your madam. Why don't you tell me so I can pay off your debt and you'll be free of him. You know Henry she trusts me more than she trusts you because I'm a woman."

He could see the full force of the slug he knew she was inside. She had always wanted more and more money. Now that she had dried Wallace her sludge was being thrown at him.
Dorota had paused for breath while she readied another verbal arrow when Ellie's raised voice cut through the tension like a very sharp knife. "Husband, would you be so kind to introduce me to this woman so I can tell the police who to arrest for trespa.s.sing our property."
Henry in the haze generated by the shock of the moment had forgotten that she was there. But now he knew she was in tune with him, he moved so she was in full view of fuming Dorota. He wanted his aunt to see that she was indeed trespa.s.sing on a private bedroom. However, the housewife was far past a semblance of retaining her ghost of a good host. The sight of Ellie in a nightgown only served to tighten her fists further in irritation.
Henry didn't like making introductions with these sort of circ.u.mstances. But Dorota had brought it upon herself. He just wished she had not dragged Ellie down to her level just because of her selfishness
