A hand tapped her left shoulder, she immediately turned and she saw Isabella in a black track suit and running shoes, she was holding a black duffel bag and her phone in her left hand. Her hair was held high in a bun and her face was bare. Indeed, there's beauty in natural things.
"You also work out here?" Isabella asked, smiling warmly. "I haven't seen you here before," she added.
Kim returned her polite smile before replying, "I'm new here. I came with a friend to sign up." Her eyes went back to the reception but Carl was not there. She skimmed the crowd of people moving about but she couldn't find him.
"You can't find your friend? Let's go, I'll show you around while you wait." Isabella said taking her hands.
If it was the former Kim, she would have avoided her hand but she has changed, just a little. A while ago, she treated Isabella rudely because she wanted to avoid drama but after spending some time with her, she realized Bella wasn't as bad as she thought.
Kim did not like unnecessary body contact and over familiarity. Besides, she never had a friend so she did not understand all these things. She had come to love loneliness overtime. So whenever her personal s.p.a.ce was intruded, she would react badly. Her eyes fell on their entwined hands, it made her feel comfortable. Her nervousness had disappeared with Isabella by her side.
"Sure." She lightly commented. Kim was entranced by Isabella. She was confident and easygoing, she made friends easily. Kim was not sure when it started but she admired Isabella and wanted to be like her. She wished she could easily make friends too but her experience made her weary of people.
As they toured the facility, Kim became more open. She was not as restrained as she earlier was, in fact, she had forgotten about Carl. She had forgotten about her insecurities.
Isabella was someone who was the life of the party. She was popular and from a good family. Although, at times, she could be a little b.i.t.c.hy. It was hard living under public scrutiny so a few times she would become unrestrained, to the detriment of others. This was why Kim had a bad first impression of her.
"Look, this is the yoga section." Bella said pointing at the sign. "My body is very stiff so I want to sign up but I heard it's difficult for newbies. Let's sign up together." Suggested Bella. She had been thinking of signing up but would always chicken out when she thought of the pain. Now Kim was there to also share in that pain, she felt comforted.
"I'm not sure I can for now, I signed up for the self-defense cla.s.s." Kim replied.
"Oh.. I'm just a regular, to keep in shape." Stated Bella, trying to push aside her disappointment. Finding a new topic, she spoke up, "By the way, we don't really keep in touch, I don't even have your number. What about SNS?"
Kim paused, giving her an inquisitive look. She had not thought about chatting with anyone, what would they chat about? She didn't even have friends. As for SNS, she did not frequent it. "I thought I gave you my number…" She did not conclude her sentence because she recalled she only gave it to Sean. But they weren't that close to always communicate with each other, right?
"Here." Kim said, giving her phone to Isabella who promptly dialed her line before saving the contact. "We should go out sometime," Bella said lightly. Recalling the time they went out, Kiim smiled. Though it was boring and uneventful, it was the first time she ever went out with friends so she was quite satisfied with the memory.
"How about this Friday?" Kim suggested, stunning Isabella. It did not last long as she became excited.
"Where do you want to go?" Isabel asked before suggesting, "Should we go shopping? Or should we go see a movie? Maybe you could come over to my place.. no, I'm trying to get you out not keep you in. How about we go paintballing?"
From the way she rambled, you could tell she was b.u.mped for the weekend. "Wait, just us? Should I call Sean? Do you want to invite your friend?" Isabel inquired.
Kim thought about it, if she invited Carl, then he would be involved in every aspect of her life. She needed a life away from him. She needed friends of her own. Then she recalled he also has no friends and both their lives revolve around each other. She lowered her eyes briefly.
"Just us three." She managed to say. She was not sure how to introduce him to them. Her boyfriend? Her friend? Her roommate. She wasn't sure, that would only affect them later.
"By three you mean your friend or Sean?" Isabella asked for clarification.
"Sean."
"Then, I'll call you on Friday but you'd have to choose where we are going before then. Let's do something fun and exciting." Isabella beamed.
"Let's get back to the reception, my friend should be waiting." Added Kim.
Recalling Isabella came for a regular workout, she continued, "I can find my way, you should go do your workout."
Isabella chimed, "Really? Then see you Friday."
"Bye."
