There had to be a trick to this.
I looked over the cla.s.ses listed again and my eyes stopped on the soldier cla.s.s. It had to be because of the only level 1 cla.s.s, Soldier.
From the conversation I overheard with Jake and his party I knew that cla.s.ses would give extra attribute points, which could make this much easier. With soldier having a nonexistent requirement in attribute points anyone that reached the town before level 5 would opt to get the cla.s.s. It was honestly a no brainer.
Of course I didn't have this problem as I was bound to Ella and had imperial growth, my attribute points where abnormal and off the scales of what they should be.
If my theory was right, it would explain why everyone that I met so far after leaving the hospital had the soldier cla.s.s. It was for their growth and made it easier for them to survive.
This also posed a problem for me. I s.h.i.+fted my head to the backpack that was slung over my shoulder and thought of the golden globe I had.
???
Level 20
???
No previous cla.s.s Allowed
It didn't show up on this list, for good reason, and even had a requirement that a person had to be level 20. It didn't mention anything about attributes needed, but after seeing all these cla.s.ses it probably would.
What was really annoying was, the no previous cla.s.ses allowed, I may have the boost from being bound to Ella, but that didn't mean that I didn't want to get a cla.s.s. I would be able to get any one of the cla.s.ses that was listed, and possible get more attribute points while I level.
That would of course make me way more powerful, but the allure of this unknown cla.s.s was very high. To be restricted to level 20 and no other cla.s.ses meant that it would be a rare cla.s.s and over powered.
I struggled for a little bit in my mind before I decided to hold off. The amount of attribute points that I would lose by not having a cla.s.s would be covered by imperial growth and other factors. I would put in for the long term and wait out to get this special cla.s.s.
I let out a small sigh as I looked up above myself. The sun was starting to dip lower and lower, and it was going to be dark in, I would guess 2 hours. I would have to get going and find Ella. I don't know if we would be able to make it back to the hospital, or if we would have to go and camp out in a building.
Just as I was about to turn away from the pillar a new box popped up in front of me.
(Special Function Detected)
(Kin Function Found)
(Kin – Infected Identified)
(Empress Cla.s.s Strain Detected)
(Bringing up Special List)
Huh?
(Evolution Serum – 10,000 EP)
My jaw almost opened and hung slack and my eyes popped out, when I saw the price of the new item that had come up. OMG, that is too much!
What the h.e.l.l does it do?
I mean from the name it was slightly obvious, but I had to know for sure.
(Evolution Serum – Used to evolve an infected virus strain to the next level, works regardless of strain type or variant. Only works up to the Royal Cla.s.s, other factors required to upgrade Empress Cla.s.s strain. Only usable before first evolution)
My breath was lost as the meaning of the serum sunk in. This would be priceless for Ella, that I would have to get it, the problem was I had no clue when Ella was going to Evolve, compared to every other infected I had met that had evolved at level 5, Ella was still going strong. I had no clue if it would happen when she was level 10 or possible higher.
The other problem was that even if I got the serum, it would require something else to actually upgrade her virus strain. This thing only seemed to work up to the royal cla.s.s strain. As it was the only item on this new list, and it had identified which strain Ella already was, this must be the only way to upgrade her virus strain.
I was torn as I wanted Ella to become stronger, as the more strength she possessed, the better me and her would be in the long run. But the price really was something else, I hadn't even got 2000 points with all the killing I had done so far.
To get 10,000 would be a huge undertaking, not to mention whatever else I must get.
After giving it some thought, I gritted my teeth and decided to try and gather the 10,000 points, but if Ella Evolved before that happened, I would have to forgo it and let it be.
I guess coming to the town was a huge waste of time in the end. I had found out some interesting things, but in the end I would be stupid to actually buy the gear here, and I had a better option for the cla.s.s that I would pick.
A sigh escaped my lips as I finally turned from the pillar; Kuro was waiting just like last time gave me a smile. I gave her a wry smile as I was feeling very tired, I needed to rest for the day.
Looking in the direction of the gate and where I felt Ella's presence, I thought of one last subject that I should ask about before I left.
"Hey Kuro…"
Before I could continue she stopped me and held up her hand.
"Wait, wait. When did I say you could call me Kuro?! Call me by my full name. BoostedKuroNeko!"
I just shook my head and waved my hand.
"No that's too troublesome; do you think I want to call you that every time I talk to you? No you'll be Kuro from now on."
Kuro finally dropped her smile and showed a defeated face as she tried to come up with some words to rebut me. But I didn't give her a chance.
"Now before I go, I had one more question."
Her ears seemed to perk at the words 'before I go' and she became more focused.
"I wanted to know about when that golden light flashed before. Did anything happen to this town?"
A look of 'what are you talking about' crossed her face before she stopped and thought for a few seconds. Something seemed to dawn on her after a few seconds and a shocked expression appeared on her face. Her eyes also flickered towards the magic circles on the other side of the pillar.
It only happened for a second, but I saw it, and my wariness about this person once again surged, she knew something. My eyes also flickered to the magical circles then back to Kuro.
She coughed lightly before motioning towards the magic circles and talking again.
"Ahem. Yes I do think I remember someone mentioning that these magic circles over here suddenly appeared after the flash of golden light."
My eyes sharpened as I stared at her closely.
"And you know nothing about these circles?"
I saw her head gather a bit of sweat and knew she was troubled by something. I don't know what it was, but she was nervous. She stared back at my eyes and they tried to betray no emotion as she replied.
"No!"
She said it in a loud voice and I knew it was a lie, but I didn't call her out.
"Is that so?"
That was all I said before I started making my way towards the exit. Kuro seemed fl.u.s.tered for a second before calming down and following after me. We kept walking and were soon going to make it to the actual gate.
"Why are you following me?"
I struck up another conversation.
"You're interesting so I thought I would see where you were going to go."
I twisted my head towards her and tilted it.
"NO."
"But why!?"
"I said NO"
My voice brokered no argument as Kuro tried to tail behind me.
"You'll just slow me down, you're only a level 1 with such bad gear, and you want to follow me out?"
I said it in a mean tone and truly meant what I said; she would only slow me down. I didn't mention the fact that I also didn't trust her, but that didn't matter. If she insisted on following me, I would just leave her in the dust. She wouldn't be able to keep up with me.
After hearing my words Kuro finally stopped and didn't follow after me. I made my way further and further away from her, before I heard her shout at my back.
"Once I get stronger I will follow you out!"
She for some reason sounded very excited at this moment in time, as if my rejection of the fact she is low level, just motivated her, as if once she was stronger she would naturally follow me.
"Like I would let you."
I said that in nearly a whisper, there was something off about that person. I didn't really want to interact with her much more than I had to. She had been helpful, but that didn't change this fact.
I made my way towards the gate and was surprised at the reception of people that were standing there.
They were standing outside the gate and holding their weapons at the ready. They looked as if their lives were on the line, and when they saw me they started to get loud.
Right at the front Jonathan was standing there in his gear with his blade drawn.
He was waiting for me to return?
And they were all standing outside the gates, meaning they were going to try and fight me?
My head turned cold as I pulled out my own blade, I was still in the safe area.
Walking till I was just at the edge of the protective area I stared at Jonathan.
He looked slightly pale, but there was a determination in his eyes, the likes of which I had seen in the mirror. He was ready to lay his life down to kill me.
Why would he care about being run out of this town? With so many thugs he could probably carve out a certain part of the town for a base, or something of the likes.
Well I didn't really care.
Just as I was about to step outside the protective area, Jonathan raised a loud voice.
"ARGHHHH!"
He was screaming out loud and seemed to be pumping himself up for what was about to happen. With the raise of his voice, the others behind him also raised their voices and got ready.
My face twitched slightly and I raised my hand up to my face.
Yes I was smiling, I didn't know for sure why I was smiling, judging from how it felt, it was a huge grin as well.
I didn't think much more of it as my head turned colder and I stepped out of the protective zone.
"ARGHHHHH!!!"
