I woke up famished. Gripping both my hands I could feel my fingers and blinking my eyes I could see clearly.

Regeneration had kicked in and gave me back my lost eye and fingers.

Flexing my new fingers they felt weird, I had to move them about for a while before I started to get used to them. Looking at them I couldn't' spot any differences from before, the skin was slightly pinker but that was it.

I slowly picked myself up off the bed as I tried not to wake Ella; she was clinging to my side and sleeping peacefully. I got up and quietly moved out of the room to test my right hand.

Pulling out the sharp blade I gripped it tight to test my finger strength. Spending a few minutes, I tested out my control of the sword and realized I was a bit stiffer than usual. If I give it some time I should be able to get used to them.

While I tested my new fingers I was also testing my new eye. My field of depth was back to normal after regaining the eye, but everything felt slightly out of step. Everything felt a slight shade darker than they used to, as I looked out the new eye.

I chalked it up to regeneration either making it better or worse.

My body at this point was screaming at me to eat something, regeneration used a lot of my energy. I was so hungry I ravaged through nearly all the food I had in my storage ring. Finis.h.i.+ng up all the food in the ring, I was still hungry so I headed down to the storage rooms.

It was really frightening the amount of food I had to eat before I was full and satisfied this time. I almost cleared out a whole room in my hunger.

In my rush to eat I even nicked my hand with my teeth, causing it to bleed. I was surprised at how sharp my teeth had become, might have to do with hyper growth. I knew Ella's teeth could rip through a zombies bone easily.

The bleeding didn't last long as my hand healed up quick, but it did make me hungrier. Finis.h.i.+ng up that I moved into one of the bathrooms that was scattered about, I was looking for a mirror.

I could see the difference between my old and new fingers and I thought it would be good to look at my eye. It could possibly look weird.

I was pretty stunned when I actually got a look at my face though, my mouth even opened slightly.

My new eye was like Ella's, it was red.

It was weird, looking at myself in the mirror with a red eye. The red iris glowed as I stared at myself; it was completely different from my normal brown eyes.

Why in the h.e.l.l would my eye be red when it grows back?

The regeneration skill is a shared skill through my bond with Ella, so maybe it used her base genetics for the regeneration. Or the power that regeneration works through influenced how my eye regenerated?

My thoughts went wild as I started to think of what might have happened. Ella's base genetics, being used as the regeneration base design, didn't make sense once I thought about it. That would have very negatively affected the re-growth of my fingers, well I think it would.

G.o.d I don' know genetics!

The most probable case was the regeneration being affected by the bond between me and Ella. It would explain why my sight is slightly different.

I stared at my red eye for a few more minutes as I thought to myself.

I was getting less and less human.

I couldn't help but smash the mirror in front of me as my thoughts grew dark. The pain helped me wake up and I slowly removed my hand.

I finally turned around and walked back to base, my hand dripping blood.

I didn't mind the pain.

Making it back to base, Ella was up and about and looking frantically around. Once she spotted me, she jumped for joy and rushed over. Giving me a big hug she then stared down into my new eye and slowly lifted her hand to touch it.

She had a smile plastered on her face after seeing it.

"Father, your back."

She said it lightly as I looked back at her.

I patted her head at this sight; I think she was too attached to me. I could only shake my head as I then taught her a few things before we started the day.

I tried to teach her a few more sword swings, some common sense and name of objects. She was like a sponge after having her intelligence increased; it didn't take her long to grasp the information.

Getting ready to head out I packed a lot more into my ring, making sure not to forget anything. I packed water, food, globes full of gear and anything else I thought was important. Today I wanted to completely clear the hospital and see what the outside was like.

I couldn't tell much about the outside while stuck in this building, even at the elevated levels I couldn't see much. By leaving the building I would be able to a.s.sess the situation properly and find a place to go. Even if I don't find a place I can go to, I can retreat to the hospital.

Making sure my gear was ready as well as Ella's, we start to move down the stair case.

I felt something different today though as I moved down the stairs, it was a sense of foreboding that was getting stronger and stronger as I continued downwards. Even Ella who was walking behind me seemed more tense than usual.

I checked my blade to make sure it was still sharp before continuing on. Reaching the second floor the sense only seemed to get more intense so I prepared myself. I had never felt this before, but my gut was telling me I would have to fight something tough.

It was eerily quiet on the second floor and it took me quite a while before I figured out what was off about this floor.

There was no blood.

On basically every other floor, there was a smidgen of red blood somewhere, a dead body of a survivor or infected would be littered about. But after going through half of the whole floor I hadn't seen one.

Nothing was alive on this floor.

Reaching the stairs leading to the first floor I looked down and saw that they had crumbled, it wasn't possible to go down this side. I jammed the door anyways and moved back to the other side. Making my way down I got to the first floor, it was also eerily quiet again.

I headed to the south and quickly checked the map. I was on the east of the building with the entrance on the north side and back entrance on the south. It was probably better to leave through the back as there would be a few zombies at the entrance.

Well with it being so quiet I wasn't sure about that conjecture anymore.

Moving around and finding nothing I reached the south exit easily. The problem was it had actually caved in. The supporting beams that lead towards the outside had been knocked out and the debris in front of me wouldn't budge.

If I spent enough time to dig my way through and move some of it, I could squeeze through, but it would be better to go to the entrance.

I had Ella to back me up, we should be fine. What worried me most was the bad feeling I was getting.

Moving on to check the west side I found a room or two that looked like it had been lived in, a group of survivors must have been here for a small while. There was no blood or any bodies so they must have left.

Finis.h.i.+ng up the west area I finally made my way to the entrance in the north, my blood feeling cold as I made my way over. Suddenly a box popped up in front of me.

(Danger Perception Gained!)

(Danger Perception Level 1!)

I quickly looked at the description of the skill, at this obvious bad sign.

(Danger Perception Lv(1-10) – Your affinity to an intangible force has unlocked a 6th sense in your body. Gives the ability to sense danger to oneself and your kin)

Yeap not a good sign.

I made sure everything was spic and span, and then triple checked it before I made my way to the entrance.

It was time to get out of here.

*****************************

*Snap* *Munch**Suck* *Slurp*

Dead zombies, infected, mutants and humans were all pilled close to the electronic doors.

Silver hair cascaded down the back of a 20 year old girl who was eating to her heart's content.

*Munch* Slurp* *Suck* *Snap*

Blood was covering their mouth as they gorged themselves, their hunger uncontrolled. They lost themselves in the eating as the wind from outside hit their body.

*Crunch*

The noise was really loud as I continued to stare on at the scene in front of me, holding my breath.

*Munch*

I then turned to look at Ella standing beside me, with a gaze of bewilderment and envy.

*Slurp*

I then stared back at the silver haired beauty and couldn't help to curse.

"Ah f.u.c.k!"
