I waited a long time for father to awaken. His complexion turned better, and his arm started to heal back into place. But he wouldn't wake up!

Why won't he wake up!

No. I've got to be strong here, what would father do?

After waiting so long I had to do something, I was getting hungry, so that meant father would also be getting hungry. We need food to survive, and food always helps me.

But I can't leave father here. There might be other ungrateful meals that would hurt him if I leave. And I don't want to touch those disgusting insects I tore up beforehand. If I ever see one of them again, I'll rip it to shreds before it can even think of hurting us.

I was in a dilemma as I tried to sort out what father would do. He was very good at deciding things; now that he wasn't leading me around I wasn't sure. Even if I find food though, father won't eat any of the meals I crush up. I fed him some water and that worked, but when I tried with the food. It didn't work.

You need to eat to live, or you'll die, that's the only thing I knew for sure.

After thinking for a while, I decided to move father. We couldn't stay here; it was safer back at home.

I gently maneuvered his body, and broken arm so that it wouldn't be a problem, then carried him like he once carried me.

He was so light.

I gripped him tightly as I looked at his sleeping face, I would put him at home, then go and find some food!

Walking out of the room, I took a while to find the stairs again. The area was very confusing. Spending a few minutes I found the stairs and carefully ascended them. I couldn't be too rough, I could hurt him.

Making it back to the top floor, I walked around for a while before I found where we slept last night. Walking in, I gently placed him on the bed and put the blanket over him. This should keep him warm while I find something to eat.

I fed him a few sips of water then walked out of the room. I sent one last glance at his feeble figure and shut the door. I barricaded it to make sure nothing would come this way, and made my way back to the stairs.

Determination filled me. I was hungry and pretty tired after what happened, but I would find something that father could eat. Even if it killed me!

On my body was father's favorite blade, he had dropped it after the fight and I made sure to grab it on the way out, he'd want it back later.

Moving back to the floor we started off on, I moved back to where those insects where.

Getting back to the room I ripped them into a few more pieces as I recalled what had happened, then went over to pick up fathers bag. He carried it around with him all the time, and he kept a lot of things in it.

Going around the room I collected the glowing orbs, which he would always pick up. I don't know why he always picked them up, but sometimes they would release objects, like my father's blade. I better keep them.

Finis.h.i.+ng up in there I tried to recall the feeling I had before, when I was dealing with those insects. As I did, my blood boiled a bit hotter and my vision started to change. It changed the way I was viewing the corridor, instead of just the normal stuff I could also see, black shades littered in blood and how black the tar like substance, on the walls, really was.

I thought I could use this feeling to find more like me, or even some of those inferior beings. And it worked, my instincts started up as I roused that feeling and it was nudging me towards a certain direction.

Following my instincts, I was heading back towards where I came from, and then headed down to a new area. I think father and me would have gone down here later, if it wasn't for those insects.

Every time I thought of them my blood would boil and my head would grow cold. I didn't mind the coldness though, it made me think better. More like father.

Moving down the new area, I didn't find anything but more dead meals. The insects must have gotten to them. I continued to move on hoping to find something, I was growing hungry and I needed my strength to help father.

Finally as I was reaching the dead end of an area, I found a meal. It was by itself and when I looked at it, I figured out why. Looking at the black shade going through it, the meal look disgusting, what the h.e.l.l was up with that? There was only like 10% of its body that would actually taste good. What a failure of a meal.

Moving towards it, the meal heard me and turned around. Using what father had taught me, I used my superior speed to close in on it. Because the meal was so disgusting, it was easy for me to dominate it. In only seconds I was able to restrict its movements. I wasn't even trying.

Running up to it, I gave it a reproachful look as I swung the blade, as my father liked to call it, in a "baseball" swing. I took out its head, and most of the good parts on it. It stopped moving and dropped down. Staring down at its disgusting body I almost wanted to puke as I closed in, to eat it.

It wasn't a good meal, but it would have to do. I don't have time to find a better one. Father was depending on me!

Eating the best parts of the meal, and some of the bad parts, I moved on quickly and finished the pretty fast. I still hadn't found a good meal for father so I decided to go to the next floor down. I had watch father enough to know how to "jam" one of the stair case doors, then moved to the open one.

Making my way down, I rushed through this other floor, at first I wasn't expecting much. But as I continued to move on and see dead meals, my eyes caught something. It was a splash of blood on one of the walls.

The blood was free of the black shades, it got me excited. This was the same as father, I could use this somehow!

Taking a lick of the substance it made my confidence grow, as it was exactly like fathers but still wasn't as good.

Nothing was better than father!

Searching for a while, I finally found a door that was barricaded like our home. It was something that the meals' wouldn't do; only someone like father would do this!

Moving the stuff out of the way, I cautiously opened the door and peeked into the room. As I did a blade flew towards me. Jumping back I pulled out my own blade and stared at the meal in front of me.

The meal looked a lot like me, instead of what father looks like. Having a taller build than father, but a more delicate body. Their hair was yellow, long and very dirty. Looking at the eyes in front of me, I could see hints of terror.

My eyes could see through it and like father, it wasn't contaminated with the black shades, but unlike father she had no white shades inside either.

Yes!

This was good!

Father can only drink water right now.

But!

And this is a huge point; this person has no black shade!

It was perfect!!

I knew that father didn't like to eat meals, which had to be because they had so much black shade in them.

If I can feed father this meal, it should be alright!

I had eaten enough meals, to know that the blood was very nutritious.

I had to get this meal to father!

Having made my deduction my eyes must have gleamed when I looked at this meal, it was a treasure.

Now all I had to do was take it back.

While I had been thinking all this and coming up with the brilliant idea, the meal in front of me stared back. The meals eyes glowed slightly as I looked at it, which also sometimes happens with father, no clue why though.

After its eyes flashed, the meal started to change color and fear was apparent in its eyes.

It must have realized how superior I was, and was afraid.

There was nothing to be afraid of, it should be happy to be my father's meal!

The meal started s.h.i.+vering and a liquid suddenly came out and stained the meal. I didn't know what it was, but as soon as it came out, the meals' smell turned a lot worse. It made me frown.

Was it trying to taste bad for father!

That was unforgivable!

I bared my teeth at the meal and shouted at it.

"Meal, stop that right now!"

My shout only seemed to make the meal, squirt out more liquid.

Dammit!

Dammit!

The insects and this d.a.m.n meal. Why do they keep making it so hard for me!?

Now even making themselves taste worse, just so they won't be picked!

These inferior beings really needed to be taught a b.l.o.o.d.y lesson, on how blessed they truly are!!!

My blood heat rose as the liquid spread out, and the strange force I had, radiated out from me. But because the meal had no black shade I couldn't control it.

"Stupid Meal! Argh whatever, follow me now!"

My head was cold, I would forgive it for now, it better taste good for father!

I turned slightly and prepared to leave. After walking a few steps though, the meal just continued to look at me. I swear if it wasn't for father, I would never let this disobedient meal near him.

The meal then opened their mouth and stuttered out a reply, while raising their sword.

"N-n-n-no."

My frown deepened, I had to get this meal to Father.

One way or another!

I readied my blade.
