So when we die, we drop exp.

Having crushed the globe that was around the dead survivor I gained 200 exp. I would have gained 400 it seems, but because of exp share I only got half.

That's just sick; you get more exp from a dead survivor than killing the infected. Once people find out about this, they might just kill each other to level.

Screw this d.a.m.n G.o.d.

The sound of eating stopped after a few minutes. And Ella walked towards me. I wiped my eyes quickly before I looked back. With the extra exp and kills she had leveled again. I put 2 points in INT again and the rest in AGI.

The main weakness of the infected was their slow speed. Even though they outstripped me in strength, because of my agility I could win against them. Her status now looked pretty unbalanced and she still hadn't got any attribute points from eating.

I didn't look back into the room as I left down the corridor. After finding the first 2, the numbers seemed to multiply. I found and killed another 12 infected before I finished the first corridor. Even though the room sizes and shapes changed a bit, the layout still held true to the 4 corridors branching off the main reception areas.

All the infected where level 3, and reaped me a lot of exp. Ella only needed one more kill to Level again. Once that happened we could speed up the clearance of the floor. The AGI stat really affected how fast we moved.

I went back and cleared out the other 2 corridors. I met about the same amount of infected each area.

After killing another 20, I put all 6 points in AGI for Ella. She'll be able to keep up with a faster pace now, but her stats did look unbalanced.

I went towards the last area. This was the one with the locked door. Forcing it open, I was praying it wouldn't be such a mess.

I was wrong.

It actually looked like it was a lot worse in this last area. Moving down the corridor, I killed another 16 infected. It was packed in here. Well the rooms in here did look a lot more like coffee break rooms and meeting areas.

The others were filled with testing equipment and kaleidoscopes, so there was a marked difference.

Finis.h.i.+ng up with the west reception, I collected all the globes but only got 3 pieces of equipment, all stuff I already had. The rest were just entertainment points.

I took a look at the clock, it was 10:00. I couldn't tell as the light was being blocked by the tinted windows, but the whole escapade took me more than 2 hours. I decided it was better to rest before trying to finish up the floor.

Who knows what I could find.

After resting for about 30 minutes, I got up and pulled out a normal sword. My sharp sword was starting to become duller, and I wanted to save it for something like a special. If one was to appear anyways.

I moved towards the south reception and was once again greeted by a security check point. I have no clue what they were doing up here. And the other area I check had been ruined, but it must have been important research.

Well it doesn't matter now. Like the other one, there were no infected in the reception area, but there was blood and tar splashed about. All 4 doors leading around had been smashed and there was also a blue substance here and there?

I have no clue what the blue substance was, but it was like the tar substance. It looked weird and hung from some places on the wall. I went up to take a closer look at it, but had never seen anything like it.

It was slimy and seemed to produce heat. Whenever I went close to some of it, I could feel the temperature rising. It wasn't enough to affect the whole room though; it was like the heat was contained to about 30 centimeters from the stuff.

I thought about it for a while and suddenly smacked myself on the head. Why wasn't I using a.n.a.lyze on this stuff? I hadn't used a.n.a.lyze on anything other than infected. Stupid.

I first looked at the tar substance and used a.n.a.lyze.

(Impurities – A by product of Evolution. It is produced as the body is being evolved by a special type of virus, infection or other means by which a species DNA is changed.)

Well I sort of figured that out, as all the infected where only spitting out the tar substance when they were level 0 and cla.s.sified as weak. Once they hit level 1 though they were cla.s.sified as normal.

But will something like that be produced every time a person evolves?

Is being an infected the last evolution?

I looked at Ella as I thought. She was also an infected but had never produced the tar like substance; she was born as an infected though.

Was it that the Royal cla.s.s strain she is cla.s.sified as, is a determination of what she is, or what she can possibly evolve into?

I would find out later. After this new discovery I turned my attention towards the blue substance.

(Impurities – A by product of Evolution. It is produced as the body is being evolved by a special type of virus, infection or other means by which a species DNA is changed.)

Huh?

These were also impurities, why were they different?

*Boom*

Before I could think more on the subject, a load bang went off in one of the corridors.

Maybe it's a survivor!

Though the chances were small, I still quickly headed in. It would be good to find someone to talk to.

I headed in to the corridor and sprinted past a few rooms. There was a lot more...

Blue tar?

After pa.s.sing a few rooms finding nothing, I closed in on the sound. Peeking through the door I saw an infected? It wasn't like the others, it was skinnier. It was the difference between a body builder and a scrawny kid.

It looked like a skeleton as it stood, its back facing away from me. It had dark blue skin and the blue tar dripping off its body. As a.n.a.lyze had told me before, these were impurities, but why were they blue?

Was it because this one was so different?

Even though it had its back turned towards me and didn't look strong, I decided to take a peek at its status, better safe than sorry.

Name: N/A

Race: Infected (Mutant cla.s.s strain)

s.e.x: N/A

Age: 0

Level: 3

Attributes:

STR: 13

END: 10

INT: 12

AGI: 8

SPR: 20

Skills:

Infection (Innate) LV(Special Conditions) - User is infected with a virus that promotes growth and strength depending on the strain of the virus. Can infect others with virus strain. ??? . ??? .

???

There is something wrong here. All its stats are weak for a level 3, but its SPR is insane. Not to mention it's the smartest infected I've ever seen, with 12 INT. Well excluding Ella.

A Mutant Strain? As in the strain was mutated when he was infected?

Because his stats were so low, I had good confidence that I could take him down fast, but a gut feeling was telling me that it would be hard.

What was that loud sound I heard before?

Well I can't let it go either way, better take it out while it has its back turned.

I peeked back into the room and faltered, as I was deciding it had turned this way.

Once it saw me, it let out a shriek and started walking its way over. It was slow. My confidence boosted as I saw its speed and looked at its gangly body.

I dashed out from the door and ran towards him. It stopped as I started to move in, causing me to frown. What?

It then opened its mouth as it continued to shriek at me.

I've got a bad feeling…

Before my thoughts could catch up, a strange light gathered quickly in its mouth.

The rooms' temperature instantly dropped and I felt a chill go down my spine. I knew something was wrong and instantly dove towards a bench and hid behind it.

After a second the glow in the infected mouth flew out. It was like a laser as it flew towards the bench I was behind. The temperature dropped even more and.

ICE!

b.l.o.o.d.y Ice started to form and cover the whole bench!!

What the h.e.l.l!!!

I shrunk my body even more as the frost started to spill over the bench and reach me, it felt like I was pushed into a chiller. After 5 seconds and just as the main body of ice was about to encroach onto my actual body, the glow faded.

I was scared s.h.i.+tless as the bench that I was hiding behind shattered, after I placed some pressure on it.

The h.e.l.l did it just do!!!

I quickly sprinted towards the mutant and decapitated it before it could make another move. Its body was weak and easy to kill but. The h.e.l.l!

Is that what spirit does?!?!

That's too much!

I peeked at my status and realized that the Exp that it gave me was 70, with exp share. Without it, it gave almost double what the regulars did.

I Broke out in cold sweat as I turned back to look at the bench. It was shattered completely into ice; nothing inside the bench wasn't broken.

The room temperature was freezing as Ella stepped in. She rushed up to the mutant and gobbled it down faster than any I had seen before.

I figured that Ella likes to eat bodies that are more powerful, seeing how ravenous she was being, its body must have been good stuff.

I made a point to check in my head, that blue tar means one of those things is around. I mean what else could have caused it. More importantly why was it mutated?

I looked around the lab and spotted some broken lab tubes. They were scattered around where the body was standing before. I have no clue what they were, but they might have caused this infected to mutate.

And because it was on the research floor, it probably won't be the last one.

Dammit!

The only upside was the glimpse into what SPR does. The SPR that thing was rocking was 20, it's the only thing that explains how frigging ice came out of nowhere like that.

An ability like that would be useful later, but I don't know if I would be able to control something like ice.

Calming down after the fight I reached out for the globe that had dropped from the mutant, it was a special one, as it was glowing a gold color. Just like the one that dropped from the special.

It made me excited just looking at it.
