The area quietened down as I looked at the person bowing before us.

*Poof*

The dead body of the last bandit dropped to the ground finally and the horse he was ridding dashed off. I didn't stop it as we had no use for only 1 horse. Maybe if there were a few more. I looked around and the horse that had already run off, and 1 that had died.

Not saying a word the air was tense, we all still had our guard up against this merchant. And he was the first to move.

Straightening himself after bowing for a good 20 seconds, he looked at us with thankful eyes.

"I truly am thankful for the help you guys have provided. I never thought the day would come when I would actual meet a Demon at the same time a High Human."

I squinted my eyes as he mentioned our races, my aura covering the person. He had used a.n.a.lyse on us, and I didn't know when he did it. Maybe when we were fighting before?

His body stiffened up from the pressure, but it wasn't as bad as the bandits or players I had used it on before. As I thought, people that had a level around ours wouldn't be completely useless in a fight. But I could see that his body was trembling minutely and a small sweat was on his forehead.

"You a.n.a.lysed us?"

My voice was low as I talked to him and he struggled to speak back.

"S-s-sorry about that. A habit you pick up when you're a merchant. Always have to know who I'm dealing with."

I nodded my head sceptically.

"What do you mean by your words?"

"About?"

"Why would you be surprised about meeting a demon and high human?"

I retracted my aura as I waited for him to speak, it would make things easier if I wasn't pressuring him. He gave me a thankful look as I retracted my aura and fixed up his s.h.i.+rt that was slightly ruffled.

Doing that he rubbed his chin getting his thoughts together.

"Well you see on my home world, all Demons have been wiped out."

He said that as he looked at Ella, I stepped in front of her protectively and my aura once again came out trapping him.

"And WHY was that?!"

His knees buckled but he stayed standing and backed off a little, waving his hands.

"Wait, wait! I mean no harm. Just eons ago all Demons where wiped out by a combined force of many nations. We have no clue why that happened, and there are no records. They are but legends where I'm from."

He spat it out in one breath and I let up the aura, I may have shot the gun a bit there. But what he brought up was interesting. First it was the Empire that had come after us and tried to kill Ella. They were adamant that she had to be killed right then and there.

They could have honestly gone and come back with a bigger group, by now I could tell that they were only a scouting group that ran across us. But instead of doing that, they had the Rogue that found us instantly engage, and then chased us into the library.

If we hadn't fought them off then and there, they would have kept coming, I was sure. So what was the hate all about? And now I was hearing that in this guys home world, they had eradicated demons centuries, no he said eons, ago.

I s.h.i.+fted my head to look at Ella who was staring coldly at the merchant. What was so dangerous about letting her live?

I turned away from her and back to the merchant, pus.h.i.+ng the thought to the back of my head, I would deal with it another time. Thankfully where ever this guy came from, they didn't have such an instant reaction to Ella. But anywhere else we go, I couldn't be sure.

I gritted my teeth in frustration. d.a.m.n it I would have to find something that could hide Ella's status from other people we couldn't risk people finding out what she was. Speaking of which.

"Ok then...What's so special about High Humans then?

Ending the silence, that had ensued as I thought to myself, I talked to him.

He gave me a weird look at the question and tilted his head.

"You really don't know?"

He looked at me like I was an idiot when he finished.

"Haaaaa. Would I ask you if I truly knew?"

I let out a sigh.

"High humans are an even greater legend than demons. Where I'm from no one has ever really seen one. They are told to live for 1000 years, 10 times the normal life expectancy. Their strength unmatched at the same level, they are the perfect human. It is said they are the last steps before reaching G.o.d."

His eyes turned to one of adoration and wonder as he started to talk about high humans. I was shocked still as I heard him talk. I already knew I was above people of my own level, that was a given with all the buffs I had. Even without Ella, if I was just a High Human I would be powerful enough.

But what the h.e.l.l did he mean living 1000 years and the perfect human? I think the main thing that stuck in my head were his last words.

The last step before G.o.d.

I gripped my fist tightly as I thought about the revenge that I had to take on the b.a.s.t.a.r.d that made this world. If he was right then I was on the path that I had always been chasing since day one. A small smile touched my lips as I stared upwards.

He rambled on for a short while about how great high humans were as he stared into the sky, he was day dreaming as he did so. After a minute or two he snapped back to reality and his eyes as they looked at me held wonder, as if he wanted to see through me.

"From where you hail. Are High Humans the norm?"

My mind raced as I quickly thought of a lie. Obviously he thought I was like him coming from a different world, instead of being one of the natives. That was obvious as I heard that most natives like myself where low level and none of them could possibly be a High Human.

The look of wonder and adoration on his face was something I could use. Thinking all that, I nodded my head.

"Yes."

His eyes lit up even more as he quickly ran over and grabbed my shoulders. Ella and Rose moved to attack him but I sent a quick mental message. I knew he wouldn't hurt me at this stage, and I also could react before anything happened. They stopped in their tracks.

He ran up to me with excitement.

"What's it like!!! How does society work? Are the legends true about your power when you reach the higher levels?"

He bounced from one foot to another like a child that was just told Santa was real, or more like he just met Santa for the first time. Of course because I was completely lying I told him nothing. And seeing that I was silent, after a few seconds he calmed down and backed off.

*Cough*

"Well I might have been a bit unprofessional there."

He looked embarra.s.sed as he backed off and faked a cough once or twice.

"It is a very strange group you have here my friend..."

I almost wanted to comment on him calling me friend, but I left it.

"A High Human, a Demon and a Queen Dryad? That sounds like the start of a bad joke."

A smile touched his lips and I even felt myself crack a small smile, I was starting to like this guy. He reminded me off all the bad jokes that Anthony used to make and his charismatic personality was infectious.

"That it does."

I still didn't trust him fully, seeing as those were perfect attributes for a merchant like him. But we lowered our stances and put away our weapons.

He bowed once again as he introduced himself and beckoned us over to the cart that he had been ridding.

"My names Hunter! Hunter Grave! It would be an honour if you would look through my merchandise."

He said that as he straightened himself and pulled back the curtains to the cart. In it were neat piles of fruits and other a.s.sorted vegetables. There didn't look to be much valuable in the thing. Made me wonder why the bandits where chasing after him so adamantly.

As if noticing my look he sprawled his hand in front of me and my eyes widened. On every finger he was carrying a s.p.a.ce ring. But these were different from the one I was wearing. These ones looked a lot more detailed and their designs were a lot better.

"I'm sure you would be interested in my other goods."

Saying that he flicked his wrist like a magician and a small steel pillar appeared in his hand. I looked at the pillar and tilted my head. It looked so familiar.

Wait a Minute!!!
