"Is this the place?"

A man spoke quietly as he stopped on an outlook. He sat on a stead overlooking the town as a group of figures sat behind him.

They all wore armour that glistened in the sun; some had slight differences but the main defining piece, the crest that sat on the breast plate. It was an engraving of a crown and a person's face. It was a dignified face; the man was square jawed and had the presence of an emperor.

It was on the right side of the breast plate that all of them wore.

"This is where the disturbance was located."

A woman that was cloaked to the side of their leader spoke out. If she hadn't spoken it would have been hard to tell that she was there. She almost seemed to blend into the shadow that was cast by their leader.

The leader nodded his head in a serious manner while an annoyed voice sounded from one of the group. The man had a lanky body and beady eyes, the cloak that was covering him bulged slightly at the back just covered the quiver that was perched on his shoulder. His bow was saddled onto the horse he was ridding.

"d.a.m.n rebellious b.a.s.t.a.r.ds. If it wasn't for them, we could have gotten here 2 months ago. Who knows if the disturbance is still in the town?"

The leader looked over to the complaining member and refrained from saying anything. The truth was he also agreed with what his subordinate said. They had been a.s.signed the mission to scout this area for the cause of the disturbance that happened 3 months ago.

It would have only taken them maybe 3 weeks of travel between their empire and this run down town. But just as they were about to depart on his majesties orders, an uprising had taken place. Some filthy beggars that had their eye on the throne thought it was a good time to rebel.

Just because the main army had been lost and only the imperial guard and some soldiers were transported to this place, that didn't mean they were push over. The rebellion had caused more casualties than expected but they had quelled the stupid b.a.s.t.a.r.ds.

The problem was the surrounding cities and empire. Their neighbors that they were about to invade and make part of their glorious empire had the gall to attack them while they were still recovering. This had caused numerous problems for the emperor and inflicted heavy damage on the capital.

However with the supreme leaders.h.i.+p of their emperor they were able to abate the tide and crush all that opposed them. Of course none of the cities that attacked were spared. All the men were either killed or forced into labor, while the woman and children became slaves to the valiant soldiers that fought.

Even some of them in the team had new slaves that they would have to break in once they got back. Of course they couldn't stay for the celebration after a hard fought 2 month war, they still had their orders. They set out immediately to locate and find out what the disturbance was.

If possible they were to bring the monster, if that's what it was, back, to serve as a guardian beast. Or if they couldn't do that, kill it so there are no problems in the future.

If it wasn't a beast, which the emperor expected, they would bring back whatever item it is. The leader sent a small glance towards the man and motioned for him to come to the front.

The man knew what his job was, after standing in front of them, his eyes flashed as they stared at the desolate town. It was too far away for the group to see what was happening. But because he was an archer with the skill 'Enhanced Eyesight' he was able to see details they couldn't.

His eyes roamed around the town and looked at the surroundings.

"There are two groups on the outskirts. One is in a clearing just outside the town, while the other is a ways into the mountain, hiding. The group in the open is in a defensive formation and waiting for something. I can't see anything that's actually happening in the city."

The leader nodded at the words. This was good information. The 2 groups that were on the outskirts might be here for the same reason as them.

"Number and details."

That was all he had to say as the archer responded.

"There are 40 in the group that is in the open, they are all immortals. The one that is hidden have more, but only by a bit. They should have around 60 people. I can't tell their cla.s.s as they are too low for specialized gear."

He put on a pondering expression.

"Maybe level 20 and under? I can't give you better information. They could be hiding their level with c.r.a.p gear and misdirection."

The archer spoke after thinking for a bit, he had to take in all possibilities, even if they were small, his job in their group was to spot and identify enemies from a distance. He couldn't screw up or it could cost their group their lives.

"d.a.m.n immortals, I wish they would just stay dead."

A new voice joined the talk as a st.u.r.dy man in the back a s.h.i.+eld slung over his shoulder commented.

"They are just d.a.m.n puppets. Easy to use and then throw away."

The archer quipped from the side, waiting for their leader to make a decision.

The leader nodded once again at the archers words. He thought over all the information and came to a decision. He pointed to a different overlook that covered the town. It would give their group a good vantage point and keep them from sight.

"We'll all move their and wait. Let those two groups fight it out with each other, while we gather more information."

""""Sir""""

Everyone in the group raised their hands and gripped them, raising a fist to their right breast crest.

"Nadia."

The shadow of a woman stepped up once again next to him, her fist still on her chest.

"Go down and scout out the city. Do not engage with anyone and scope out the situation. Once you identify the disturbance if it is still here, report back on your EPC."

"Yes!"

The woman spoke loudly but still didn't leave.

The commander looked at everyone in the group.

"For the Empire!"

The leader finally raised a fist to his crest and did their empires pledge.

"""""""For the Empire!!!!""""""

With that the woman disappeared into smoke as if she was never there. The group didn't react to this and moved out to the overlook.
