I stood in front of the stairs and looked at the doors. 1 was off its hinges. I was standing in front of the town library. I always said I wanted to come here when I had the chance. Ella would be able to learn a lot, I could brush up on geography and maybe they would have a martial arts book in there. Of course 1 martial art book wouldn't help, but I could try to learn something.

I whirled my finger in the air and watched the air freeze and drop to the ground. I was practicing my ice skill. I was starting to get a hang of it. With 50 more SPR I think I could start using it in combat. With how easy we were taking out the zombies, I saw no reason not to practice now.

I turned my back to the stairs and made my way to the town, the library was very close. Only another 200 meters and I would see the walls. I was hoping Ella might be able to make it in this time. That G.o.d had said the easy times were over, that might mean the protection period was up.

I had spied 1 or two groups of people going around on the way here. All theirs levels were around 14-16, not enough for me to break a sweat. With them being such a low level we could go into town, no matter how dangerous it might be.

My greatest hope was they couldn't see Ella and Rose's status. I knew I couldn't see enemies' status's after a certain level. I think we would be safe. Ella looked human, other than her long hair, pale as white skin and purple eyes.

I could pa.s.s it off if it was just this. Rose was also pa.s.sable. Her hair may be green, but she looked completely normal. Her light black skin didn't look out of place, the whip may raise some eye brows but that's it.

I could only cross my fingers at this stage. Even if I had to fight the whole town I wouldn't have a problem. But I didn't want to hurt the children or families that might be inside. Even if they wanted to kill me, to kill children was one line I didn't want to cross.

We were soon nearing the wall, it was about here that the barrier had sprung up, and as we crossed it.

(Protection period waning. 3 months before protection period revoked! Non human kin found. a.s.sessing.)

(Kin Allowed)

Both Ella and Rose were held still for a second, before being let through. I gave a small smile and continued to walk on. Rose was bewildered by what just happened, but only gave it a second thought before moving on.

Ella, who had been rejected before, gave off a bright smile and made a taunting expression towards the barrier, that couldn't be seen. Having had her fun she quickly caught up to us.

*******************

We walked through the gates and I saw a marked difference from the last time I was here. The amount of people off to the side looking half dead and not doing anything had reduced. When I had first walked through here and had to take care of the gang boss and his cronies, there was a lot of walking dead.

Not in the literal sense, more in the mental. They were people that had nothing to live for, they had no light in their eyes and didn't know how to live. I could understand that, having all this thrust upon them. It was a wonder that more people didn't break and go insane.

But now as I walked through the gates, there were more people up and about. They had gear and weapons strapped to the waists. I wouldn't call it a vibrant atmosphere, but the depressed hopelessness that was prevalent before had disappeared.

People were motivated to go and kill the zombies. Weather it was to become stronger, to stay inside the town for one day longer. To not be used by other people. I had no clue. But it was a good sign.

It was one of the only good signs, as I was sweating buckets walking through the door. I was hoping beyond anything that no one would notice Ella as something other than human. If they found out rose was a living plant, the reaction would be bad. But Ella was an infected.

If people were to find that out, they would rage, not many people could keep their calm towards the beings that had destroyed our society, their families, and their homes. Luckily it seemed we were in the clear. No one showed signs of hatred, or that they would try and kill us.

It looked like we were a high enough level. We were of course given looks from all around. I was semi famous around here. After taking out the gang, I had come back numerous times and talked to no one. For me to suddenly turn up with 2 women by my side, would raise attention.

Not to mention the fact I had been gone for a week, I would mostly likely be thought of as dead. Not that anyone would care.

I stared at those around me and could still see fear in their eyes. Some knew they had gotten stronger, but they also knew I was stronger than them. While they were doing nothing but wallowing in despair and anguish, I had already become powerful.

If they were to attack me now, they would die for sure. I think I was also releasing a little bit of pressure because of how nervous I was. That would keep anyone from approaching us. And just as I was thinking this I heard a voice aimed towards me.

"Liam!?"

I think I know that voice…

I slowly turned my head to look at the person that was walking over. He had s.h.a.ggy hair with dirt and grime mixed in. His body was lean and skinny and he had a messy beard. He was wearing a set of gear I hadn't seen before; I think it was a better version of the enhanced combat gear. An axe was on his back, so I knew he was a warrior type cla.s.s.

My eyes flashed as I used a.n.a.lyze, I had seen his face before, but I couldn't place it. He even knew my name. Of course he could have found that out multiple ways.

Name: Anthony Blake

Race: Human

s.e.x: Male

Age: 18

Level: 15

Job: Newb, Warrior, Berserker

Anthony?! One of my best friends!

*******************

I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted him. One of my best friends, Liam. I hadn't seen him in weeks. I honestly didn't think he made it. I had been in school during exams when this d.a.m.n thing had started. I had to kill so many of my friends to make it out alive.

I still mourned them to this day. On our way through the city, the ones I still had left were reduced over and over. There were only 15 of us left when we reached here. I broke down for a while after that, it took a lot for me to decide to continue on.

I really wanted to end it a few times, but I held on. I still hadn't found any of my family yet, so I was very surprised to see him. It renewed hope in me that they could still be out there.

He was a bit different than when I last saw him. I knew he had to go to the hospital for his new sister's birth when all this started, or he would have been in the same exam as me. His body looked leaner and his expression was grim. Flanking him were 2 beauties I had never seen before. They were gorgeous.

They both looked 20, with one being white and pale, and the other black with green hair. Both their eyes shone in the day and sent a mysterious vibe out. Not only them, even Liam's eyes shone with a different light, one of them was now purple, while the other was his normal color.

I could see one or 2 scars, that had probably been caused since this apocalypse started. They let of a pressure that I had never felt before; I could tell they would kill me if I made my way over. But I couldn't just let him walk by. Being one of my best friends, I really wanted to talk to him. I didn't see his mother with him so I thought of the worst possible outcome.

To make sure my eyes weren't seeing things I used a.n.a.lyze to confirm.

I looked at all of their status's and was shocked. I had gotten the right person; it was the Liam I knew. But who was Ella? They both had the same last name, but I never remembered him having a sister. I even thought his new sister was going to be called Ella.

He had told me that he got to name the baby, and moth balled a few with me. Last time I checked his new sister was going to be called Ella. What's going on here?

I didn't mind too much about the Rose character, wood was a bit of a weird last name, but because she was with Liam I didn't think much of it.

What was most surprising was their level. I had no clue what it was, but it had to be high. I couldn't see any of their information, other than their names and gender. This meant they were at least 4 levels higher than me. That would explain why I felt they could kill me easily.

I had been working my but off to kill zombies. I had formed a group with some of the survivors from school. And we had been clearing out zombies as fast as we could. Even then we had only just gotten to level 15. For them to be near level 20 was insane.

What had he been through?

Whatever it was I would find out soon.

"Liam?!"
