Chapter 339 The Frost Queen

A faint white glimmered in the east. The magnificent and lofty Florence Cathedral was still cloaked in darkness. There were no pedestrians on its ancient streets, let alone any open taverns.

On the uppermost story of Giotto's Campanile, there was an eastern couple standing abreast before the window, watching the dusky Florentine scene.

“Didn't you say you would take me to a tavern for beer?” Jiang Hao broke the silence between them.

Ning Tao sounded quite embarra.s.sed. “I'm sorry. I was so elated that I forgot the time difference.”

Jiang Hao said no more. She s.h.i.+fted her eyes to outside the window. Although everything was dark and unlit, she still enjoyed the view. She had never visited Florence before, so everything here seemed especially attractive to her.

Some time pa.s.sed. There was a young couple coming from the other end of the street. They halted before the gate of Florence Cathedral. The young man suddenly knelt down, proposing with a ring box in his hands. The young woman was agitatedly covering her mouth, overjoyed. But they were some distance away and Ning Tao could not hear their conversation.

Jiang Hao and Ning Tao gazed down on the young couple from their vantage point.

After the young woman accepted the ring, the couple embraced and started to kiss pa.s.sionately.

They should not have done that.

Ning Tao seemed affected by the young couple. He quietly tilted his head and his mouth inched towards Jiang Hao's face.

Jiang Hao was quietly staring at Ning Tao's face from the corners of her eyes. There was a faint trace of a mustache above his upper lip. Before his lips could kiss her face, she tensed up.

Ning Tao actually knew that Jiang Hao was observing him from the corners of her eyes. But he pretended not have noticed, drawing his lips near brazenly.

He was about to plant his lips on that delicate, pretty face. But just at this moment, a hand suddenly blocked his lips. He could not stop himself on time and his mouth kissed her palm.

Jiang Hao retracted her hand in a fl.u.s.ter and blushed. “Why are you so shameless?”

Although Ning Tao was no thick-skinned man, he said, without anyone teaching him, “Why do you need face when you're with me? I only want you.”

Jiang Hao was both angry and amused. “Don't think I can't read your filthy thoughts. Before we came, you said that we would be having beer. You're trying to make me drunk and do something bad, right? In the past, I had tried to give myself to you, but you rejected me. You won't have it easy this time.”

Ning Tao was speechless.

“Forget it, let's go to Shennongjia. We don't have any beer for you to exploit here,” Jiang Hao said.

Ning Tao gave an awkward smile. He was too embarra.s.sed to speak.

A few minutes later, a convenient door opened in a valley in Shennongjia.

This valley was formerly the base camp of the archaeological team. Although the valley was the same, the archaeological team was gone. They could not bear to think about it now.

Although enshrouded in duskiness, the valley was not too dark. There was a bright moon in the fair sky, distinctly illuminating the stream and gra.s.sland of the valley.

“Let's take the elixir here. I will watch over you. You can relax and take that Ancestor-seeking Elixir,” Ning Tao said.

Jiang Hao took out that porcelain vial and unstoppered it. She poured out that incomplete Ancestor-seeking Elixir onto her palm and glanced at Ning Tao, seemingly trying to verify something. She no longer hesitated and put that incomplete Ancestor-seeking Elixir into her mouth, raising her neck to swallow it.

Ning Tao stared straight at Jiang Hao. He summoned the states of looking and smelling in his eyes and nose, trying to monitor all her changes.

Jiang Hao also stared back at Ning Tao. Although she knew nothing could go wrong with Ning Tao's presence, she was still nervous.

A few seconds pa.s.sed.

Ning Tao sounded somewhat anxious. “Why aren't there any reactions? How do you feel?”

Before his voice faded and before Jiang Hao could answer him, there was a loud growl. Her mouth spewed out a ball of green light, as the sound of bones crackling resounded in her body. Even more terrifyingly, her muscles started to grow rapidly. The entire scene resembled that of fermenting dough captured by time-lapse photography!

“Ah—” Jiang Hao growled again. Her eyes had turned completely green, as a greenish demon aura entwined her body.

Rip!

The sound of fabric tearing. Jiang Hao's clothes were suddenly ripped open, as bulging muscles burst from her garments, exposed into the air. There was a horrifying latent power in those muscles, their veins protruding. And yet her skin still remained as smooth and fair as before. There was a bizarre s.e.xiness in it.

Ning Tao was stunned motionless. He had seen Yin Molan take the Ancestor-seeking Elixir. The outcome was horrendous and terrible to behold. Ning Tao had not expected such a stimulating, erotic scene upon Jiang Hao swallowing the Ancestor-seeking Elixir.

“So hot!” Jiang Hao, now a powerful female warrior, started to pummel her chest. After a series of dull thuds, the last piece of fabric started to rip and was scattered into the air.

Ning Tao seemed frozen by a Body-fixing Talisman. His entire body, including his eyes, were paralyzed, unable to move.

“Don't watch!” Jiang Hao gave an angry bellow and suddenly kicked out her leg.

Ning Tao was alert to her kicking, but he forgot she was kicking him. In that brief moment when he started, his chest had been kicked. He soared a dozen meters away before cras.h.i.+ng heavily on the sh.o.r.e.

“Tao, are you alright?” Jiang Hao dashed over. She extended her brawny arm, rippling with muscles, and lifted Ning Tao up by his waist.

Ning Tao was enjoying the lovely feeling of a female warrior cradling him. He smiled. “I'm alright. I have mastered Powerful Tolerance to Beating. A train can ram me and I'll be fine. Your kick is nothing to me.”

“You gave me a fright… for some reason, I could not control my emotions. I wanted so much to release my energy!”

“Could you hold me more gently? Your pecs are so hard.”

“What did you say?”

“I said…”

Before Ning Tao could finish, Jiang Hao suddenly gave Ning Tao's eyes a punch…

Everything had been fine, so why did you mention pecs?

Jiang Hao took 10 full minutes before her demon power ebbed. Her bulging muscles rapidly subsided, and her greenish eyes resumed its normal color. After the Ancestor-seeking Elixir cleansed her body and meridians, her demon power had soared greatly. She was no longer the same Jiang Hao.

Ning Tao walked towards her, asking with concern, “How are you feeling now?”

Jiang Hao frantically jumped into the stream and hid herself. “Don't come here.”

Ning Tao halted his steps and tried to crack a joke. “You were so fierce just now; you didn't reserve any energy when hitting me. So why do you fear me now? Come here and let me feel your pulse. I will diagnose your present condition.”

“Don't think I can't read your thoughts. I won't fall for your trick. Give me your clothes,” said Jiang Hao, hiding in the water.

The stream was so clear that one could see its bottom. But hiding in it was better than being exposed.

Ning Tao did not make any more jokes. He took off his jacket and threw it to her.

Jiang Hao stretched out her hand to catch. But the jacket was blown away by the wind and she caught nothing. The jacket fell into the stream. She was so anxious that she seemed to have triggered something. The surrounding water suddenly froze!

Crack, crack, crack…

The faint sound of water freezing. Several square meters of the flowing stream had instantaneously frozen!

His jacket fell on the surface of the stream. It had not been washed away by the current.

Ning Tao was flabbergasted. Right now, his feelings were even more intense than when he first saw Jiang Hao transform into a female warrior.

Jiang Hao had become a new demon and he already knew that she could change her face and trigger the genes of the ancients, taking on their appearances. Lin Qinghua had the same ability too. When he saw Lin Qinghua again in Florence, Lin Qinghua had broken his leg. Yet, his leg could heal in just a few seconds. In other words, he had the ability to rapidly recover from an injury, on top of his ability to change his looks. Now, after swallowing the Ancestor-seeking Elixir, Jiang Hao had demonstrated another demonic ability— freezing!

She could even freeze a flowing stream. Jiang Hao's abilities as a new demon was obviously superior to and more powerful than Lin Qinghua's rapid ability to recover!

Ning Tao did not find it strange at all, since Lin Qinghua had not taken the Ancestor-seeking Elixir he had refined. But Jiang Hao had. Perhaps it had something to do with her innate talent, although this was very hard to a.n.a.lyze or prove.

Jiang Hao put on Ning Tao's jacket and punched a fist to break the ice. She went up the sh.o.r.e gingerly.

Only now did Ning Tao recover from his deep shock. He went to her hurriedly. “Just now… how did you do it?”

Jiang Hao carefully pressed down the hem of the jacket and thought for a while. “I don't know. I was anxious and wanted to grab the jacket. For some reason, it…”

“Think back carefully again. How did you feel just now?” As he spoke, Ning Tao summoned the states of looking and smelling in his eyes and nose. This time, he was astounded again. Jiang Hao's innate aura had transformed into a demon's. Its greenish color had metamorphosed from the colorful innate aura of a human. Her demon aura was heavy and dense!

Jiang Hao thought for a while and then shook her head. “I don't remember. That feeling was very strange. I'm poor in languages and can't describe it. Let me think for a while before telling you.”

“Let me touch your hand.” Ning Tao extended his hand and grabbed Jiang Hao's pressing down on the jacket.

His tug and lift made her loose jacket flutter and rise in the wind.

“Creep!” Jiang Hao was embarra.s.sed and anxious. She tried to shake off his hand.

Suddenly, a cold air a.s.saulted him. Ning Tao's entire arm froze in an ice casing!

“Tao, are you alright?” Jiang Hao immediately became fl.u.s.tered. She reached out her hand and gripped Ning Tao's shoulder.

Crack, crack, crack…

Ning Tao's shoulder, head… soon his entire body was encased in ice!

It took a mere two seconds and Ning Tao was now an ice man. The ice was not clear and transparent, but bore the faint color of green moss. Quite evidently, she had frozen him using her demon power. The airborne moisture and underground water were all instantaneously transferred to Ning Tao's body, frozen into ice!

If she had thoroughly mastered this ability, she could saunter on the Pacific Ocean, and walk from Malacca to the Persian Gulf!

“Tao, are you okay? Don't scare me!” Jiang Hao was scared stiff. She scrunched her hand into a fist and struck out at Ning Tao, the ice sculpture.

Before her fist could land on Ning Tao's body, the ice encasing Ning Tao suddenly cracked open, splintering in all directions.

But her fist had penetrated the splintering ice and landed on Ning Tao's eyes.

Crack, crack!

Ning Tao's face once more became encased in ice. His body soared away, his head cras.h.i.+ng heavily on the ground.

“Tao, are you alright?” Jiang Hao anxiously dashed over.

Ning Tao suddenly stood up and spread out his arms. “Don't come over! I'm fine!”

Jiang Hao halted her steps, her face full of apology and grievance.

Ning Tao said, “Don't use your demon power recklessly. You can now not only freeze a man, you are also horrifically strong. Before you master your new demon power, you should avoid contact with human beings.”

When she saw that Ning Tao was fine, Jiang Hao was a.s.sured. She squinted at Ning Tao and deliberately lift up the hem of the jacket by a few centimeters. “Tao, don't you want me? I will give myself to you now. Come here.”

Ning Tao was speechless.

She must be doing this on purpose.
