Chapter 9 Please Pretend Not to Know

Ji Xiaotiao's parents were divorced. Although she was ordered to be raised by her mother, she grew up in her aunt's house because her mother was busy with work.

Ji Xiaotiao's mother was going to let her go to an ordinary high school, but her aunt, who had always taken care of her as if she were her own daughter, disagreed. She paid for her tuition and sent her to the most famous  Yinghua n.o.ble  college in the city.

Ji Xiaotiao was a sensible child. The tuition was paid by her aunt, so the living expenses could not be charged to her aunt, so she worked to earn money. During the year of studying in Yinghua, she usually earned her living expenses by working part-time throughout winter and summer vacation and working part-time in a cake shop in the evening.

In fact, even though life was a little tight, there was also freedom. How nice it was to make money on one’s own. It was very comfortable to live without other people's help. Winter vacation would soon be over, and the new term was coming. Everything would be as smooth as before. But she didn't expect to meet Xu Moqi, the comet!

She had simply paused at the corner to have a curious glance. She had simply gotten her hair tangled in that man’s b.u.t.ton for no reason. She had simply, accidentally, let the poisonous man stay in her little dorm for one night. She had been very kind to help this man! And even now, she was being very loving by not exposing him. . . Oops. That was supposed to be a secret. . . But despite all that, why were things turning out like this?

Not only had she become a full-time maid, but she was also responsible for his food and drink. As long as she saw the young man's wrinkled brow and frown, she had to hurry and bring him satisfaction. After she made the young man happy, she was very tired. And Xu Moqi's mouth was really vicious! Every time she spoke with him, she was called a fool, or an idiot. Was she an idiot? Was she a fool? Was she really stupid? Her IQ was . . .

“179.99! Ji Xiaotiao! The water has overflowed. Please pay attention when you pour it later. Wait ‘til you get back to your room before you slowly become silly, okay?”

“Ah!” With a scream, the girl began to wipe the table with a rag. Xu Moqi scratched his ears and turned his eyes away helplessly. He wondered if it was right or wrong to ask this girl for help.

Closing the book in his hand, Xu Moqi stood up from the sofa and walked over to Ji Xiaotiao.

“Stupid girl, the next semester is about to start. Have you forgotten it?”

. . . Huh? Ji Xiaotiao looked up at Xu Moqi, but her face said, I really forgot.

Xu Moqi's forehead was covered with blue veins as he resisted the urge to reach out and strangle her. Quietly, he said, “After the semester starts, there will be more people around the dorm. Although, there aren’t many people where I live. But just in case, in the future if someone accidentally runs into you, you need to say that I invited you to serve as a servant, and you are just temporarily living here. That's good for you and me. Don't let gossip get out.”

“Oh. . . ” Ji Xiaotiao responded unhappily. All right, she had indeed become a maid.

“You don't have to come back to cook at noon after school; just eat in the canteen. But dinner is still the same. I suggest you quit your job at the cake shop. It's not safe to go out at night. And, most importantly, I don't want to wake up when I'm asleep by a fool who always forgets where she left her keys!”

Ji Xiaotiao was very happy to listen to the first few sentences. She thought the young man was actually being considerate towards her. But she was depressed when she continued to listen. She pouted her lips to show her helplessness, knowing that he would not speak good words! Girls have poor memories, and he doesn't get tired if he helps to open the door. Besides, why does he go to bed so early every day? Sleeping soundly at 9:30? It's too carefree! Compared to him, I'm really angry!

Xu Moqi ignored Ji Xiaotiao's hesitation at the moment, and then said, “Finally, the emphasis is on this one thing! You must remember! Even if you forget who you are, don't forget this! Yinghua and Fenghua are not far away; we will meet occasionally. Please pretend you don't know me then!”

Well! Ji Xiaotiao stared at him. He just said that if I meet someone else, I'm his maid at his house. Now, he wants me to pretend not to know him at all. Isn't that contradictory? Besides, does he think everyone wants to know him? I want to pretend that he is invisible.

“I see! Master, do you have any other orders? If there's nothing else, I'll go back to my room first!”

Xu Moqi raised his eyebrows and wondered why the girl was so obedient. Shouldn’t she resist? Okay, forget it. She's willing to cooperate, but . . .

“What are you doing now? Don't you always want to watch TV on a daily basis?”

Uh . . . Ji Xiaotiao, who had just taken two steps, stopped abruptly. Shrugging her shoulders slightly and turning back to Xu Moqi, she showed an innocent smile.

“I forgot that I need to go to school the day after tomorrow, and now I remembered that I haven't finished my winter vacation homework yet. . .”

Xu Moqi rubbed his head and tried to calm himself down. Calm down! Don't fuss with the fool in front of you! It wasn’t any of his business anyway!

Dropping the word idiot, Xu Moqi walked back to his room. The door slammed shut, leaving Ji Xiaotiao with a sad face.

Sob. . . What should I do? I forgot all about my winter vacation homework.
