Chapter 3334: Brutal

The old man’s expression s.h.i.+fted slightly. "You seem to have a great deal of knowledge regarding our Spirit Nidus. I am indeed one of the Seraphs."

"Like that old freak, Yuan Qi?" Lu Yin felt a sense of dread. At full strength, Yuan Qi had been able to fight against Mister Mu. If not for the fact that Yuan Qi’s Dao Bell had been broken, Lu Yin would have never been able to defeat the man. The round-faced old man in front of Lu Yin had already overpowered Lu Yuan, which suggested that he was a Dukkhan. This was a terrifying opponent.

The old man gave Lu Yin a long look. "When we first arrived in this Tianyuan Megaverse, we tried to contact Yuan Qi and Yong Heng, but we failed to reach either. Where are they?"

"I already killed Yuan Qi," Lu Yin stated bluntly.

The round-faced old man smiled. "How amusing. A Seraph, dead at the hands of a mere child like you? I don’t believe it. If you think you are so strong, then try to kill me."

As the old man spoke, he lifted up his golden pen and pointed it at Lu Yin before lowering it once more.

"Be careful!" Lu Yuan warned.

Lu Yin pushed Lu Yuan out of his inner universe as he faced the golden pen. Stars surged forward.

The stars closest to the golden pen instantly took on a golden color and escaped from Lu Yin’s control.

No sequence particles had been used, as they would have been rejected by Lu Yin’s inner universe. The stars that had turned gold moved in front of the round-faced elder, and they met the incoming stars with a deafening crash.

The old man moved through the void, constantly tapping with his golden pen. More of the stars turned gold, and fell under the old man’s control.

Lu Yin was shocked. That golden pen had to be a Spirit Weapon. They were unique to the Spirit Nidus, and a symbol of a true powerhouse.

Helpless, Lu Yin retracted his universe back within his chest. However, all of the stars that had turned gold stayed behind. They were completely under the round-faced old man’s control, and they suddenly shot at Lu Yin.

"Junior, a Spirit Transformation is not something that your Tianyuan Megaverse can stand up to."

Lu Yin clenched his fist. "Is that so?"

He threw a punch, shattering the golden stars and sending the remaining force straight toward the round-faced elder.

While the round-faced old man did not initially care about the punch, as Lu Yin’s fist drew closer, the man’s expression changed. "The limit of physical strength?"

The void trembled. Not even the old man was bold enough to take Lu Yin’s punch head-on. Instead, he was forced to retreat. The golden pen pointed at Lu Yin, which sent chills down his spine. He used Inverse Step to move at the speed of time, but the old man just sneered and s.h.i.+fted his pen at the speed of time as well. The power of time did not particularly matter to the old man. Lu Yin attacked again, and his brute strength forced the round-faced man to retreat once more.

"The biological limit of strength… young man, it now seems slightly plausible that you did kill Yuan Qi. Allow me to send you on your way." As the old man spoke, he put away his golden pen and pulled out a square plaque that he pointed at Lu Yin.

Instantly, Lu Yin’s thoughts grew hazy. A terrifying number of sequence particles filled the area, and they far across the battlefield, even reaching the area where Chu Yi and Palace Master Yao were fighting. Both of them were Ortusers, and while their realm naturally repelled the laws of the universe, there were simply too many sequence particles for them to hold at bay.

Chu Yi was startled. "A sequence base."

He had returned to partic.i.p.ate in this battle, leaving Progenitor Chen, Progenitor Ku, and Mu Zhu to continue pursuing True G.o.d.

Palace Master Yao was surprised. "You people know quite a bit about our Spirit Nidus. That young man is doomed. That is the Impression Realm."

Chu Yi instantly called out loudly, "Pillar, that’s the Impression Realm!"

The Spirit Nidus possessed ten sequence bases, and the one ranked fifth was known as the Impression Realm. It had been formed from the sequence particles of 359 powerhouses who had mastered the Law of Impression. The Law of Impression only ranked seventy-ninth out of the Spirit Nidus’s eighty-eight sequence techniques, but that was because the law of the universe did not improve the user’s combat power by much. However, as a benefit, the law was easy to comprehend. The Spirit Nidus was ruled by the Ascendant Hall, which would a.s.sign cultivators to cultivate the Law of Impression in each generation. Throughout the eons, 359 cultivators had devoted their entire lives to the law, which had culminated in the formation of this sequence base.

Although the Law of Impression was not particularly useful, the resulting sequence base was incredibly powerful. It was able to reverse reality and a person’s impression, which meant that, if a person’s impression was injured, then the person themselves would be injured. If the impression died, then so too would the original person. This was a law of the universe, and the sequence base enforced that law by replacing a person with an impression of them.

Chu Yi's warning was too late.

At the same moment that Chu Yi saw the round-faced old man pull out the sequence base, Lu Yin himself saw it. By that time, the sequence base had already been activated.

A figure appeared beside the square plaque that was the sequence base. It was the old man’s impression of Lu Yin. The moment the impression appeared, the old man threw a palm strike at the forehead of the impression of Lu Yin. If the impression was killed, Lu Yin would also die.

Suddenly, the impression vanished, and everything reverted.

The round-faced old man’s expression changed yet again. "Reversing time?"

Lightstream sailed through s.p.a.ce to return to Lu Yin’s side. A palm lashed out, and while Lu Yin’s attack contained no power, it caused the nearby sequence particles to churn and be absorbed. This was Progenitor Chen’s Linked Palm.

Progenitor Chen’s battle technique had always proven itself useful at a critical moment.

Since Lu Yin’s inner universe was unable to repel such a tremendous amount of sequence particles at the same time, Lu Yin did not even bother to try. Instead, he would use his enemy’s strength against them.

The old man took his golden pen back out and pointed it at Lu Yin.

Wherever the golden pen pointed, even sequence particles were stained golden. Lu Yin quickly pulled his hand back so that he could dodge. Golden light swept through s.p.a.ce. A twelve-ring mecha turned golden and froze in place. Behind the mecha stood Nong Yi.

Nong Yi also turned golden, and he then drifted through s.p.a.ce like an incredibly detailed golden statue.

The next moment, all of the gold shattered. Both the twelve-ring mecha and Nong Yi fragmented.

Lu Yin felt a pang of grief. Nong Yi was the first Progenitor that Lu Yin had conferred into his Invest.i.ture of the G.o.ds. The man had helped Lu Yin work against the Perennial World’s four ruling powers, but he had just died on the battlefield.

There was no time for grieving, as the round-faced old man’s golden pen was once again pointed at Lu Yin. At the same time, the old man’s other hand held his sequence base. He was prepared to use it at any moment.

Lu Yin took out the G.o.d of Death's scythe. The weapon had finally been completely restored, and it prompted the death energy that surrounded Lu Yin’s inner universe to gush out. The round-faced old man pointed his golden pen forward, turning the stars golden one by one. However, further away, Lu Yin's scythe fell, unleas.h.i.+ng a slash of death energy.

The death energy sliced towards the old man. He was caught off guard by the power of this attack, but he still used his golden pen to disperse the death energy. The slash was split in two, but Lu Yin’s inner universe contained yet another layer of complexity: Verdant Eternity.

As long as he was within the bounds of Verdant Eternity, none of Lu Yin's power would be consumed.

While the death energy slash had been severed, it quickly reformed into another slash that continued on towards Lu Yin’s opponent.

The old man was stunned. "A technique that consumes no energy? How impressive."

He dispersed the slash of death energy again and again, but the death energy seemed endless. As this happened, the stars in Lu Yin’s universe shot forward and then pressed down on the elder.

The man was forced to retreat from Lu Yin’s inner universe.

This was the first time that it had succeeded in pressuring him.

Lu Yin expanded his inner universe so that it enveloped all of the battlefield. As he did so, his stars easily crushed a sequence powerhouse expert from the Spirit Nidus.

The round-faced old man had destroyed a mecha, killing the pilot and Nong Yi, and Lu Yin had retaliated by killing one of the Spirit Nidus’s sequence powerhouses.

While Lu Yin was not the old man’s match, the variety of Lu Yin’s numerous abilities allowed him to fight against the Dukkhan.

Even the round-faced old man found Lu Yin a frustrating opponent. Neither his sequence base nor his Spirit Transformation weapon were enough to deal with Lu Yin. "It’s no wonder why Tian Ci called you the greatest obstacle to the Tianyuan Megaverse’s defeat. Young man, you deserve to have me use my full strength."

As the man spoke, sequence particles started to boil up behind him. He used his own sequence particles this time, and they formed a ma.s.sive humanoid creature from them. It wore a sharp, white mask that made it look like a demonic G.o.d.

While Lu Yin’s inner universe had already encompa.s.sed the battlefield, it was unable to fully disperse the sequence particles of this enormous creature. As the round-faced elder activated his spirit base, a terrifying amount of sequence particles resisted Lu Yin’s inner universe, which allowed the old man’s sequence particles to remain.

"I am the president of the Spirit Nidus's Chamber of Commerce, one of the Seven Seraphs. I have cultivated the Divine Light sequence technique, which allows me to summon the G.o.d of Death."

The humanoid figure of sequence particles that had formed behind the old man suddenly charged at Lu Yin, its arm upraised and ready to grab Lu Yin.

Lu Yin's pupils shrank. The G.o.d of Death?

"You aren’t worthy of that name." Above his head, his Invest.i.ture of the G.o.ds appeared, spreading golden light across the universe. His summoned G.o.ds emerged, and they charged at the old man’s sequence particles, his G.o.d of Death.

Far away, blood dripped from the Abandoned’s knife as a figure fell before him.

This was the second expert from the Spirit Nidus that the Abandoned had killed. The first had been only as strong as a typical Progenitor, and they had been an easy opponent. The second was a sequence powerhouse, and while the Abandoned had killed his opponent, he had been injured in the process.

He looked out across the universe. There were simply too many fights taking place. A short distance away, Mu Ke was confronting another sequence powerhouse from the Spirit Nidus. This person also used a saber. The Spirit Nidus had simply sent too many sequence powerhouses and peak powerhouses.

Fortunately, the Tianyuan Megaverse also had a great number of peak powerhouses. After all, each of the enormous mechas was as strong as a Progenitor.

However, more and more mechas were being destroyed.

Fragments of the broken mechas drifted through s.p.a.ce, along with spatters of blood.

The Abandoned looked into the distance, past the stone gate. There were still a great number of people on the battles.h.i.+p, including a considerable number of talented young cultivators from the Spirit Nidus. Several of the mechas had just attacked the vessel in an attempt to destroy the battles.h.i.+p, but they had suffered a counterattack. There were experts protecting the battles.h.i.+p.

A vicious light glinted in the man’s eyes. Lord Lu had mentioned that he had worked to produce a large number of combatants who could fight against ordinary peak powerhouses specifically to deal with the Spirit Nidus’s younger cultivators. The ultimate hope was to create a generational gap of talent. Since the mechas had failed, the Abandoned would do it himself.

This thought propelled the man forward. He easily boarded the battles.h.i.+p with the speed of his sequence particles granted him. His next step saw two beautiful young women appear in front of him. They stared at the Abandoned in shock, startled by his sudden appearance.

The Abandoned did not hesitate, and his knife flicked forward. Both women fell, their blood staining the deck red.

"Third Sister!" A man in the distance roared in fury as he charged at the Abandoned with blazing bloodl.u.s.t. While the man was only as strong as an Envoy, his movements were unpredictable. This was not due to his movement technique, but rather the application of sequence particles that were similar to the Law of Near and Far.

Killing intent flashed in the Abandoned's eyes. This man was truly a genius, and he perfectly portrayed the abilities of the Spirit Nidus: a mere Envoy was able to use sequence particles with their sequence techniques. As soon as the man became a peak powerhouse, it would be trivial for him to become a sequence powerhouse with the Law of Near and Far.

This was an example of the Spirit Nidus’s cultivation methods. They clearly surpa.s.sed the Tianyuan Megaverse’s in every way.

In particular, the young man wielded a strange weapon. It was some sort of artifact from the Spirit Nidus, and it gave the young man the courage to attack a sequence powerhouse like the Abandoned. This person had to be one of the Spirit Nidus’s most talented youngsters.

The Abandoned moved without hesitation, and his knife casually sliced out. The young man’s head fell.

No matter how extraordinarily talented the young man may have been, it was impossible for him to bridge the gap between him and the Abandoned.
