Apocalypse Summoner Chapter 14 - Flower knight, Hail atop snow

After Han Xiaoqi’s outcry, the surrounding students rushed to the windows for a gander. Their faces turned pale at the sight; each one of those Venomous Spiders were the size of buckets. Their bodies were dark throughout and countless barbs protruded from their six appendages. Additionally, they had large mandibles that reeked of a fishy scent. This type of creature was much more frightening than even ghosts!

A legion of two hundred Venomous Spiders surged upwards. They scampered along the walls of the first to the fourth story, scaling the walls like a tiger rus.h.i.+ng up the mountains. Whenever their legs stabbed into the walls, they emitted ‘bang bang’ sounds, as if someone was beating a drum...

"Li Jiayu, what do we do?!"

Chen Qinian, who had previously vowed to kill at least 10 insects, felt his blood run cold as he enquired of Li Jiayu in a trembling voice. The courage and anger he had garnered from the earlier incident deflated in an instant due to the overwhelming fear he felt!

"What do we do? You think for yourselves! For my weapon to come into this world, it requires at least thirty more seconds!"

Li Jiayu felt like a cat on hot bricks. Even if he had the talent and ability, all of it would come to nothing in the presence of the legion of Venomous Spiders! A Venomous Spider was the kind of creature that could put down ten elephants with a drop of its venom!

All it took was a single bite or a light graze against its barbed appendages and you would be done for. The poison would enter through your wounds and spread to your heart in five seconds!

Despite their low rank, their nimbleness was not to be underestimated. Even the most seasoned of veterans would be done in by a moment of carelessness, whereas a bite from this creature was akin to a free ticket to h.e.l.l!

"30 seconds! That's too long!"

Han Xiaoqi was on the verge of tears. The distance between them and the spiders diminished as time pa.s.sed. They were already at the fifth floor and would reach the cla.s.sroom in less than ten seconds. There were at least two hundred spiders and even though there were many cla.s.srooms, a few spiders would still end up creeping into their midsts. At that point, without Li Jiayu, who would protect her?

"Too late? Then escape now! Go hide in the 13th story!"

Li Jiayu was panicking. He gritted his teeth whilst forming hand seals as he no longer held anything back. No longer reserving his mental energy, he poured everything he had into the magic formation. It would be worth it even if it only sped up by a second or two!

"What about you! If we escape, you'll be left alone with the toxic spiders! W-why don't you escape with us? Didn't you say only half of us will make it? Why are you being so desperate to fight against the spiders... You... You have to escape—I don't want you to die! Stop with that summon, securing your life is more important. If you die, it will all be over!"

Sun Weiwei's eyes reddened as she gently tugged at Li Jiayu’s arm, trying to pull him away from the formation. Han Xiaoqi chimed in. "What she said is right. When living in the mountains, firewood won't run out."

"If you want to go, then go! The sacrifice is too precious! How can I give it up so casually... More importantly, if I'm interrupted during the summoning, I will suffer a terrible setback. I can't afford to do that!"

Li Jiayu swung his arm in anger and lashed out at the two women while his fingers continued to dance with summoning seals. "Go away, stop being a burden! Get out, you'll only distract me!"

The timid students bitterly gulped down their saliva and muttered, "O-okay... Li Jiayu, we'll go first... Sorry... Please forgive us... We will leave the monsters to you..."

A total of thirteen students, nine women and four men ran to the 13th story!

In the cla.s.sroom, aside from Li Jiayu, only five boys and four girls remained...

"You guys as well, get out! Learn from those people, be smarter. Following me will only cause you to suffer!"

A thin layer of sweat formed on Li Jiayu's forehead. However, under the potent icy chill emanated by the sword inside the summoning circle, all of it soon turned into tiny crystals of ice.

"Li Jiayu, I- I am not going anywhere! You saved me. So, I, Sun Weiwei, cannot leave you alone to die..."

Sun Weiwei lifted her hammer and proclaimed weakly. In actuality, she was shaking in her boots. The only use for her in the upcoming battle was to serve as a meats.h.i.+eld and nothing else. She did not know why but only when she was with Li Jiayu did she feel a sense of security. 

Although she was a shameless mistress in Li Jiayu’s foretold future, Sun Weiwei’s mind could not bear to accept it. Rather, she thought that only through Li Jiayu's protection would she escape from this predicament... She was also frightened that when she reached the 13th story, she would lose her mind and have a senior protect her in exchange for her dignity...

No! How could she find a random man as her lover?

Without any sort of emotional foundation, it would be a transaction, not love! Only when she thought of Li Jiayu did she feel a little safer, considering how she was on better terms with him.

A sense of... Yes, a sense of security... Including Sun Weiwei, the four girls were usually on good terms with Li Jiayu. It was not only the trust between acquaintances but also the sense of security he gave that soothed them. The weak Li Jiayu had suddenly become so powerful and mysterious, like the monkey king, Zhi Zun Bao, in the Journey to the west. Therefore, being beside him was probably the safest!

"d.a.m.n! You think I'll watch as you steal the limelight? Li Jiayu, I am not a vegetarian[1]. These d.a.m.n insects, Laozi’s axe is already thirsting for blood!"

Lin Zhibin brandished the fire axe he had been given by Li Jiayu. His voice trembled due to his over-excitement but inwardly, he was terrified. However, if his crush, Zhou Jiamin, stayed behind, he definitely could not leave.

The reason for the other boys who stayed behind was similar. They were close like brothers who wore the same pants and when a brother was in trouble, they would not leave him in the lurch.

"Dumba.s.ses! I don't need your crocodile tears... You will definitely regret your own self-righteousness!"

Despite his foul-sounding words, his heart was suffused with a tinge of warmth. The Li Jiayu in the past had been ill-fated; life had not been easy for him and he spent his days like a lone general. The people around him all suffered and when he had finally become a powerful dark summoner, not a single friend remained standing by his side...

Truthfully, in the depths of his heart, he yearned for an ordinary life with friends, relatives and a lover, rather than being hunted down by enemies and dealing with souls and zombies every minute of the day!

Contrary to Li Jiayu’s expectations, these cla.s.smates actually stood beside him even in dire straits... He never expected anyone to have the courage to actually risk their lives by his side!

Li Jiayu thought they would be the same as all the people who panicked in fear and that they would run in search for a shelter. Even though they were in the same cla.s.s, there had not been much interaction between them. His personality tended to put distance between him and others and there was not a single friend he could call a best friend. Even the five boys were just acquaintances he exchanged nods with!

Regardless of their choice, Li Jiayu would not blame anyone, but they just...

Although he did not feel touched, he still felt a little warmth in his heart—it was a comfortable sensation...

At that moment, a black creature full of barbed appendages stabbed its way up the concrete wall! The Venomous Spiders had arrived!

Looking at the spider's greyish-black mandibles and scarlet eyes, the students felt breathless. An urge overcame their basic morals and they felt as though they had to flee with their tails tugged between their legs.

However, since they had decided to stay, they ought to grit their teeth through this ordeal!

The Dark Octopus, which had been dazed in the sidelines, suddenly made its move; its tentacles squirmed and shot towards the spider. It was not a quick charge, but through the ambush, successfully coiled itself around the spider!

As another spider scaled the walls, the Dark Octopus shot out another tentacle and suppressed it with its overwhelming power!

'Good job!'

Li Jiayu was pleased. He had predicted the octopus to be able to handle three highly toxic spiders at the least. However, he had not expected it to be this efficient and capable of taking down two simultaneously. Looking at the situation, it should be sufficient for delaying the spiders for dozens of seconds!

However, he soon realized he was dead wrong!

Dark Octopus roared in agony. It seemed to be experiencing cramps as its tentacles flailed about. Li Jiayu noticed that the tentacles holding down the spiders had blackened and were swelling up rapidly like tumors.

"It was poisoned! d.a.m.n. The barbs on their legs have penetrated its tentacles... Wasn't the Dark Octopus variant immune to poison? If so, why is it not immune?!"

"Pain! Pain! Burn! Hurt!"

Dark Octopus moaned incessantly as the venom seemed to have dealt a great deal of damage to it. Fortunately, it acted upon it decisively! Contracting its muscles, the octopus severed the poisoned tentacles!

As the tentacles were severed, two spiders flew outwards!

At the cost of two tentacles, it had solved two Venomous Spiders!

Dark Octopus seemed to have experienced a trauma; it huddled itself into a bunch and no longer dared to act brazenly.

Two seconds later, three more spiders swarmed in. Without the octopus acting as a blockade, they managed to leap into the cla.s.sroom and their agile legs allowed them to maneuver nimbly towards the students!

"It's the spiders! Everyone be careful!"

Lin Zhibin roared as though giving himself courage. Clasping the axe tightly, he rushed forward with the other four boys in tow. After they had recovered from their fear, using desks as weapons, they bashed the spiders down to the floor!

Dang~!

The Venomous Spider was extremely nimble and dodged Lin Zhibin's axe easily. The axe lodged into the ground and sent waves of numbness through his arms. The other four students were a little more fortunate. Like a blind mouse discovering a dead rat, they actually managed to land a hit on the spider which was pushed backwards!

However, they merely repelled one spider. Do not forget that there were two more!

The two spiders skittered across the ground toward a boy named Zhang Pengyu, climbed up his legs and bit down on his neck!

"ARGH!"

Zhang Pengyu screamed but his voice was quickly drowned out as a large chunk of his flesh was missing from his neck. His vocal cords and throat were being chewed up by the jaws of the spider!

The first fatality within the group that remained behind - death by having his throat removed!

The third spider did not seem weaker. With 'pa pa pa' sounds, it flitted towards the four women. In its eyes, the four girls had nice skin and tender flesh— they were definitely more delicious!

Watching as the grotesque creature approached them, the four girls were frightened pale. They felt as though they were going to wet themselves again but abruptly, the octopus seemed to be stimulated and stirred awake!

"I... Flower... Knight... Must not... Allow pretty... Lady... Hurt..."

With that, its remaining ten tentacles shot out with ferocity. They grabbed the desks and a.s.saulted the spider that threatened the girls!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The octopus possessed great strength under stress, so much so it actually exerted 1.5 times its normal prowess. As a result, the spider was smashed beyond recognition; instantly turned into meat paste!

Although one spider had died, the other two were still spreading carnage. While the octopus was guarding the female students, another male student succ.u.mbed to the carnage and was bitten in the thigh. A big, gaping hole appeared and the bone was visible. Within seconds, the large wound turned visibly black and started to leak with foul-smelling pus. Even the blood had turned black!

Obviously, this boy was already at death's gates. There was no one who could remove the toxins of the spider.

The situation was rapidly becoming dire!

However, Li Jiayu’s heart contained a wisp of hope. All he needed were ten seconds and the summoning would be over with. As for the dead students, he vowed to avenge them by a hundredfold!

However, G.o.d did not seem to heed his pleas. Such was life and Li Jiayu heard roars resounding outside the cla.s.sroom. Once again, cold sweat broke out on Li Jiayu’s head!

Three Scythe Beetles!

The situation was already critical and with the addition of three human flesh harvesters, they ran out of options!
