Chapter 2 - Contract Marriage!

Xiao Zheng’s face looked stunned and surprised. But what came after was even more interesting. His complex expression disappeared just before Sister Hong had time to scorn him again. With a “Pa” sound, he lit up his cigarette, looking thankful as he spoke: “As I said before, I drank a little bit too much that night. I thought that I must have been so thirsty that I compromised and had s.e.x with you. Luckily, it was just a false alarm.”

Xiao Zheng pushed the door open and walked in before Sister Hong had time to respond. He turned around and left her a request, “Coffee without sugar, please. Thank you!” Xiao Zheng remembered that the sign on the door was labelled ‘Executive Office’, which meant that the person waiting in the room must have been Sister Hong’s big boss, the rich female millionaire… A high cla.s.s and rich lady would have switched partners like how they switched their underwear, she was probably a bride for someone new every night! Why would she stick with me after sleeping together for only a night? Could it be that I happened to sell out my superior morals and soul at some point?

The office was very big. On the left-hand side, there was a pile of big and solid bookshelves made of wood, on it were many well-known books and limited editions. Some were unique as the only one in the whole world. On the right, there was a small guest meeting area. The couch and the coffee table were arranged in an angle that created a very hostile atmosphere. There was neither an ashtray nor any magazines, and no bottles of water could be found. Adding the fact that the mat looked newer than those in other places of the office, Xiao Zheng concluded that this office owner had never greeted any guests before.

In the meantime, on the only couch in the guest area, a cold looking but stunningly beautiful lady in uniform sat still. Her snowy, white beautiful face seemed to have ‘Keep Out’ written all over, and her pair of beautiful eyes were so hostile, everyone would have stayed thousands of miles away from her. Maybe it was because of her presence that even in such a s.p.a.cious office, the temperature had still dropped so suddenly, contrasting with the hot temperature outside, like ice and fire.

Xiao Zheng noticed a middle-aged guy around his 40s sitting next to this beautiful woman. His suit was well-ironed and his leather shoes were bright and s.h.i.+ny. Although he seemed very gentle, his face still displayed anxiousness and insecurities. Apparently, being in the same room with this ice queen was indeed very torturous for him, especially as he was standing next to her.

“Stop!”

The woman spoke coldly just before Xiao Zheng had walked into the guest area. Her tone sounded harsh and unquestionable with a sense of authority. Even the middle- aged guy by her side bowed at her immediately and then straightened his back up like a soldier, looking rather funny.

On the other hand, Xiao Zheng steadily walked towards the woman and sat down directly opposite to her, looking very casual and calm. Between them was a metal coffee table less than 1 metre long, short enough to allow him to closely stare at the beautiful view in front of him.

The woman was extraordinary beautiful.

Her face seemed delicately crafted to perfection and was as soft and white as egg whites. Her red lips were plump and smooth like flower petals. Two lines of clean and white teeth were s.h.i.+nily bright at him. However, she looked icily arrogant and superior – even glancing at her would make most men feel self-conscious and very inferior about themselves.

But Xiao Zheng automatically turned oblivious to her sharp and imposing manner. He eagerly examined her with care and then expressed a look of thankfulness. He sat upright and still, saying, “I finally found the reason why I went wild under the influence of alcohol that night. If I could turn back time, I guess I would have still gotten a room with you without any regrets, even if it was at an expensive hotel.”

Her gla.s.s-like eyes suddenly turned from looking ice-cold to furious, as if she was about to spit fire over Xiao Zheng and burn him into ashes. However, the middle-aged guy who seemed to have been informed held so much respect and sympathy towards Xiao Zheng over the words he had said. Isn’t it better to offend anyone else other than the top ranked, successful career woman of the Empire State Building? The newest rich woman in the Bright Pearl province? Who doesn’t know that this new chairperson of the Xin-ao Group is known for her hatred of men! On the contrary, you seemed to have plucked up some courage and took advantage of this ice queen while she was drunk. My little brother, do you know how many strokes the Chinese symbol 死 (Si= death) has? (implying that Xiao Zheng was naively brave and was seeking for his own death).

Lin Hua Yin felt her chest burning like fire and she almost mentally collapsed. It was through her strong willpower that had prevented any mental breakdowns. She clenched her teeth and said, “Lawyer Deng, give him all doc.u.ments and the contract.”

“Yes, Boss,” Lawyer Deng nodded without much confidence and pulled out the doc.u.ments and contract from his case file that he had prepared the night before.

“What doc.u.ments?” Xiao Zheng tapped the ash off his cigarette swiftly and the ash flew everywhere on the carpet.

This rude and impudent act had gotten on her nerves as she was extremely fastidious, but again, she forced herself to calm down. The fact that her cold and elegant face had a slight blush clearly showed that she was already on the edge of collapsing.

“These are the personal details about our boss and your marriage contract,” Lawyer Deng explained patiently, “Considering that your situation is a bit special, this the contract does not follow the process of the civil administration office, but it still has legal effects within the contract period. Any party who breaches the terms of contract will have to bear the relevant legal responsibilities and burden of compensation.”

Xiao Zheng nodded carelessly, expressing his understanding. He then grabbed the personal doc.u.ments about this ice queen. Opening it, he started to speak, “Since I tackled such a difficult job by accepting your bossy requests, I will keep the promise for sure. There is no need to provide me all your personal details right? To be honest, I wouldn’t mind if you were a swindler or fraud because your face is still beautiful.”

Despite saying that, he looked down at her personal details and continued, “Hua Yin Lin, Female… so you are Hua Yin Lin,” Xiao Zheng slightly curled up his lips and continued reading the details out loud, “27 years old…. Are you already 27? Surprisingly 2 years older than me. Yes. You graduated from Harvard and have an MBA degree. You must be a female scholar then. Chief executive officer of the Xin-ao Group. Hey, your family must be very rich if you could become CEO at the age of 27. You must have got this position by the back door, right?”

Xiao Zheng criticised harshly at this new rich woman in the Bright Pearl City as he read over her personal details. His petty actions reflected his retaliation to the rich. Lin Hua Yin’s face flickered like a light, turning white and green in response to Xiao Zheng’s comments and clenched her fists tightly. She was still restraining herself even though it looked like that she was going to run out of breath anytime soon. She had to restrain herself because Xiao Zheng hadn’t to sign the contract and her marriage contract could not be officially valid yet.

“Cough.” Lawyer Deng sensed that her anger was rising so he cleared his voice and began to speak, “Mr Xiao, please read over the marriage agreement. If there is no problem, it will become valid once you sign it.”

“Yes, I would not want to waste everyone’s precious time,” Xiao Zheng grabbed the marriage agreement and looked over it dismissively before he proposed any objections, “I can accept most of the terms and agreements but, I think one of them requires more consideration.”

Lawyer Deng’s eyes flickered, trying to guess what kind of drama this young lad was going to come out with. He asked hesitantly, “Xiao Sir, which one do you think is inappropriate?” Xiao Zheng took a suck at his cigarette and continued in an earnest manner, “Number 9, during the negotiation period, although both parties have husband and wife t.i.tles respectively, no duty as a married couple needs to be fulfilled. I think this one is a bit cruel.”

“What kind of problems does this one have?” Lawyer Deng curled his lips, feeling that something might have gone terribly wrong.

“Lawyer Deng, you are experienced in this area, thus, I believe you will understand my needs.” Xiao Zheng looked serious as he spoke, “For a young and active guy like me, occasionally, we call out someone for a drink, bragging and boasting about stuff as well as telling some dirty jokes. When our emotions are high, we need to find a way to quench my thirst for s.e.x right? But now you have the nerve to ask me to accept the contract, using moral principles to restrict my behaviour while at the same time prohibiting me from any s.e.xual acts as a married couple… Isn’t it clear that you are trying to make me burst?”

“Pa!” Lin Hua Yin could not stand it anymore. She quickly pulled out the cutting knife. Her body, trembling, as she pointed the knife at Xiao Zheng and roared like an angry female lion, “If you dare to say anything more ridiculous, I will kill both of us right now!”
