18. L. M. Watts.
Hundredth Psalm.
1 Before Jehovah's awful throne, Ye nations bow with sacred joy; Know that the Lord is G.o.d alone; He can create, and He destroy.
2 His sovereign power, without our aid, Gave life to clay, and formed us men; And when like wandering sheep we strayed, He brought us to His fold again.
3 We are His people, we His care, Our souls and all our mortal frame: What lasting honors shall we rear, Almighty Maker, to Thy name?
4 We'll crowd Thy gates with thankful songs; High as the heavens our voices raise; And earth, with her ten thousand tongues, Shall fill Thy courts with sounding praise.
5 Wide as the world is Thy command, Vast as eternity Thy love, Firm as a rock Thy truth shall stand, When rolling years shall cease to move.

The Heart's Wors.h.i.+p.
1 The offerings to Thy throne which rise, Of mingled praise and prayer, Are but a worthless sacrifice, Unless the heart be there.
2 Upon Thine all-discerning ear Let no vain words intrude; No tribute but the vow sincere,-- The tribute of the good.
3 Our offerings will indeed be blest, If sanctified by Thee; If Thy pure spirit touch the breast With its own purity.
4 O, may that spirit warm each heart To piety and love, And to life's lowly vale impart Some rays from heaven above.
20. P. M. Barton.
Wors.h.i.+p in Spirit.
1 Our G.o.d is a spirit, and they who aright Would offer the wors.h.i.+p He loveth, In the heart's holy temple will seek with delight The spirit the Father approveth.
2 This, this is the wors.h.i.+p the Saviour made known When she of Samaria found him By the Patriarch's well, sitting weary, alone, With the stillness of noontide around him.
3 He having once entered hath shown us the way, O G.o.d! how to wors.h.i.+p before Thee, Not with the vain forms of that earlier day, But in spirit and truth to adore Thee.

The Light of Life.
1 Light of life, seraphic fire!
Love divine, Thyself impart: Every fainting soul inspire; Enter every drooping heart: Every mournful spirit cheer, Scatter all our doubt and gloom; Father, in Thy grace appear, To Thy human temples come!
2 Come in this accepted hour, Bring Thy heavenly kingdom in; Fill us with Thy glorious power, Rooting out the seeds of sin: Nothing more can we require, We can rest in nothing less: Be Thou all our heart's desire, All our joy and all our peace.

Every Good Gift from the Father.
1 Father! Thy paternal care Has my guardian been, my guide: Every hallowed wish and prayer Has Thy hand of love supplied: Thine is every thought of bliss, Left by hours and days gone by; Every hope Thine offspring is, Beaming from futurity.
2 Every sun of splendid ray; Every moon that s.h.i.+nes serene; Every morn that welcomes day; Every evening's twilight scene; Every hour which wisdom brings; Every incense at Thy shrine; These,--and all life's holiest things, And its fairest,--all are Thine.
3 And for all, my hymns shall rise Daily to Thy gracious throne: Thither let my asking eyes Turn unwearied, righteous One!
Through life's strange vicissitude There reposing all my care; Trusting still, through ill and good, Fixed, and cheered, and counselled there.

For Spiritual Influences.
1 O G.o.d, whose presence glows in all Within, around us, and above!
Thy word we bless, Thy name we call, Whose word is Truth, whose name is Love.
2 That truth be with the heart believed Of all who seek this sacred place; With power proclaimed, in peace received, Our spirit's light, Thy spirit's grace.
3 That love its holy influence pour, To keep us meek, and make us free; And throw its binding blessing more Round each with all, and all with Thee.
4 Send down its angel to our side; Send in its calm upon the breast; For we would know no other guide, And we can need no other rest.
