Chapter 2167: Chapter 2168: The Truth Comes to Light
“Hey, hey, hey…”
Just as Lin Yi was about to make a call on his mobile phone, he was suddenly stopped by Zhou Li.
“What’s the matter? You need something?”
“Officer, you’re a cop. It’s not very proper to just make a call to my friend like that.”
“What’s so improper about it? I didn’t call you guys human traffickers, afraid it will tarnish your own reputation?”
“That’s not what I mean,” Zhou Li said awkwardly, a bit at a loss for how to handle the situation in front of him.
In their organization, he was just a manager.
He had the skills, but wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
He could maybe deal with an ordinary policeman, but when facing someone like Lin Yi, he was completely outmatched; they weren’t even in the same league.
ReadNovelFull.comUnder Lin Yi’s relentless pressure, they gradually started to slip up.
“Lin Bro, I’ve got it!” Zhang Zixin said:
“The actual owner of Ma Hua’s mobile phone is Zhang Youfu.”
The hearts of Zhou Li’s four men all skipped a beat, completely thrown into disarray.
Lin Yi’s gaze swept over the four men like a sharp knife.
“About this matter, don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”
Lin Yi reacted quickly, grabbing Zhang Zixin’s hand and pulling her behind him while reaching out with his other hand to grasp Zhou Li’s arm, drawing him close, and delivering a kick straight to his body!
Zhou Li went down, and the remaining three attacked Lin Yi like madmen!
The wooden stool shattered upon impact, and Li Baoguo was knocked silly, blood covering his head, howling in pain on the ground.
Seeing the miserable state of his accomplice, Ding Weimin completely gave up on resisting.
He held the switchblade, s.h.i.+vering uncontrollably, as if stricken with Parkinson’s disease!
“Everyone get down! Hands on your heads!”
Lin Yi bellowed, and with the sound, the switchblade fell from Ding Weimin’s trembling hand to the ground!
Lin Yi told him to get down, and he was so frightened that he immediately knelt down, exceeding the task.
“You keep an eye on them; I’ll go check elsewhere. If anyone dares to make a move, shoot to kill. I’ve got your back if anything goes wrong.”
Zhang Zixin nodded, a strong sense of security suddenly welling within her.
She then felt for her weapon at her lower back, aimed it at the four men, and even disengaged the safety.
Lin Yi walked out of the room and began to survey the house.
Judging from the ringtone that had sounded earlier, he was certain that someone was hiding somewhere in the house.
He just didn’t know where yet.
But it wasn’t a big problem, as there weren’t many places in the house where a person could hide.
Lin Yi opened the wardrobe in another room to find it empty.
Then he circled back to the kitchen and the storeroom.
There wasn’t much to say about the kitchen, but the storeroom brought Lin Yi to a halt.
About a meter in front of him was a cellar.
Lin Yi was ninety percent sure that the ringtone had come from down there.
Stepping forward, Lin Yi kicked open the wooden cellar cover, turned on his phone’s flashlight, and shone it down below.
To his surprise, he saw the man in the black tank top and a five- or six-year-old boy hiding there!
But the little boy was unconscious, not moving at all.
Fortunately, there were still signs of life; some means must have been used, or else he wouldn’t be so quiet.
“Let us go, or I’ll kill him!”
Ma Hua held the child and threatened hysterically.
He had vaguely heard the commotion outside and guessed that Zhou Li might have run into trouble.
He had been prepared for this.
“It’s impossible to let them go; only you can leave,” Lin Yi said coldly from above.
“That’s impossible; we are in this together. I can’t leave alone!”
Ma Hua shouted loudly but was very nervous, his rough hands gripping the child’s arm tightly.
“You’re so ugly; I didn’t expect you to be so loyal and righteous.”
Lin Yi said emotionlessly, looking down from his higher position:
“But let me tell you, letting them go is not an option. The only one who can leave is you.”
“Then I’ll strangle him to death!”
“Be my guest; you can kill him now. It makes no difference to me; it’s not my kid, after all. Did you really think I was some kind of merciful savior?”
Ma Hua was stunned.
What the h.e.l.l was happening?
He must be a fake cop.
Lin Yi drew a gun from his lower back and aimed it at Ma Hua’s head:
“I give you one minute to decide. Either you walk out on your own, or you kill the child and wait to be executed. It’s your choice.”
Ma Hua didn’t speak, caught in a fierce internal struggle.
Soon, he looked at Lin Yi seriously:
“I will go by myself!”
“That’s the right spirit. People die for wealth, and birds die for food; staying alive is what’s most important.”
As he spoke, Lin Yi put away his gun and gestured to Ma Hua.
“Bring the kid up.”
