Chapter 1736: Why Is He Slowing Down?

The Elder who caught the drop of water looked at it, and a hint of greed flashed through her eyes. This was something that any Water Elementalist that could acquire would see a tremendous boost in their strength. For someone like her who can rarely see an increase in strength, she didn't like missing any opportunity to increase her strength.

Just as she was about to touch the drop of water, it dissolved, and she couldn't help but let out a disgruntled snort; shooting Klaus a glance, she walked back to her position.

The reason she stopped the drop of water wasn't for any other reason than if it sank into the ground too much, there was a chance it might disrupt the world they were in. It wasn't near as large as the Aurora Continent, so they didn't dare to let any tremendous force get close to its

core.

Klaus also understood this, making an embarra.s.sed smile flash across his face as he quickly apologized to the Elders of the Crescent Moon Faction. He soon turned his attention to the dumbstruck young man, "Is that enough to interest you?"

The young man unconsciously nodded, but then paused and asked, "And if you end up having a better result?"

He was eager to learn this technique, but he wasn't a fool to just jump into agreeing with the bet. Anyone who could offer something like what Klaus just did is most likely very confident in their abilities or was a complete fool. Seeing Klaus, he didn't think of him as the latter, but rather the former. Klaus was arrogant, there was no way he would want to make a bet he wouldn't win.

"Oh, nothing too important, just that I want your drop of Ice Crystal if I win." Klaus' words made everyone present realize what his target was; no wonder he offered something as wondrous as the ability he had just displayed. Only something like that will be able to entice anyone with a drop of Ice Crystal to willingly bet.

The young man froze when he heard this and his expression showed signs of hesitation. He knew the sacrifice the Faction made to be able to acquire the four drops of Ice Crystal. The aim of the Faction was for all four of them to aim for the Half G.o.d Plane during this short period. They knew the chances weren't high, but the drop of Ice Crystal would be able to make things easier.

If it were anything else, the young man would've already gone ahead with the bet. After all, he, too, was very confident in his abilities. So far, only Suzanne has been able to gain victory over him. However, this was a delicate matter.

Klaus noticed the young man hesitating and chuckled, "It's fine if you're afraid to make a bet. Just pretend I never said a word."

After saying this, Klaus walked to the ice wall, and just as he was about to place his palm on the wall.

"You're on." The young man didn't speak too much, he was hesitating, but when he saw his Teacher, who was one of the few Half G.o.d experts present here nod to him, he dispelled the doubt in his mind.

"Hahaha, I knew you were a dragon among men." Klaus laughed loudly before placing his palm on the ice wall.

The second Klaus' palm touched the ice wall, he felt a bone-chilling cold seep into his body from his palm and he quickly rotated his essence, easily resolving the cold in his body. But he noticed that after resolving the first cold, an even more frightening cold came from the ice wall once again, rus.h.i.+ng into his body. Klaus didn't panic as he revolved his essence in his body to deal with the cold. The same process happened again and again, and just like the first time, he would calmly deal with the cold.

Now he understood how the ice wall works. Each floor in the Ice Chamber has a certain amount of chill, and each time this chill enters his body, as soon as he resolves it, he realizes that one floor in the Ice Chamber will light up, and an even more powerful cold will seep into his body. As long as he could deal with it, he'd move on to higher floors. The procedure was particularly simple and also very fast, as each attempt only took a few seconds.

The First floor lit up immediately after Klaus placed his arm on the ice wall, the same for the Second, and then Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth, and to the shock of everyone, Klaus' speed slowed down when he was on the Seventh floor.

"This isn't possible... right?"

Even the young man felt his eyes twitch when he noticed that Klaus, indeed, slowed down on the Seventh floor. Even he who made a bet with Klaus believed that at least, Klaus would get to the Tenth floor, even maybe reaching the Eleventh floor. But now, on only the Seventh floor, Klaus seemed to be having difficulties.

"Why is he slowing down?"

"Do you think he's at his limit?"

"Don't forget that there are people who don't hastily resolve the cold. As long as he doesn't allow the cold to penetrate into his bones, he should be fine."

When they all heard this, most of the people calmed down. Of course, there were a few who believed that Klaus was already close to his limit.

Klaus, on the other hand, was ecstatic; the reason he slowed down was because he realized that the cold from this wall was tempering his essence repeatedly, and the longer he left it on his body, the better the result. He has even started to faintly feel like he might break through to the Sixth stage of the Sovereign Plane soon. Normally he isn't far behind Grey in terms of cultivation stage.
