Chapter 2728 Contact
"Interference? That's strange..."
Tang Chuji and Ji Xiaobo exchanged glances and both shook their heads.
Dimensional energy was a high-level force within the game, and the two of them had only heard of it in pa.s.sing.
They hadn't had direct contact with it.
As for giving advice, they were at a loss.
Tang Chuji asked, "Could it be related to the Holy Court? There are rumors that a pa.s.sage to the Holy Realm is established at the Holy Court's headquarters. The Holy Realm may have placed special protection on the Holy Court."
"Yeah, that's very possible."
Fang Heng lowered his head in thought.
It seemed the plan had changed.
Absorbing this world's energy directly was going to be difficult.
Ji Xiaobo asked, "Brother Fang, what's our next move?"
Fang Heng thought for a moment, then looked up at Tang Chuji and asked, "You mentioned before that the Holy Court has set up a special pa.s.sage for descent in Amrit. Do you know where it's located?"
"Yeah, it's at the Holy Court's headquarters, at the top of the Holy Mountain, in the Mist Temple."
"Alright, then we'll head to the Holy Court's headquarters."
Since they were already here, it wouldn't be good to leave without taking a look.
They had to check it out.
Fang Heng planned to approach it in two steps.
If luck was on their side, they might find some device or magic array in the Mist Temple that influenced dimensional energy absorption. If so, they'd destroy it, absorb the dimensional energy, and leave.
If luck wasn't in their favor and they couldn't find anything, no worries—they could still target the descent device set up by the Holy Court in Amrit, destroy it, and leave.
After quickly calculating in his mind, Fang Heng raised his hand and summoned a Bone Dragon, leaping onto its back.
"Let's go. You lead the way."
...
Amrit.
Holy Court's Holy Mountain.
Mist Temple.
The regional archbishop stood outside the grand hall, his gaze slowly drifting toward the distance.
The chief guard hurriedly walked in from the main gate, stopping in front of the archbishop, bowing respectfully to report, "Archbishop."
"Hmm, rise and speak. Has the seal on the Holy Realm entrance been repaired?"
"The emergency repairs have been completed." The guard lowered his head, a look of regret on his face as he repeatedly apologized. "My apologies, Archbishop, the enemy's strength was too overwhelming, and they found a breach."
"It is not your fault. The enemy came unexpectedly, almost entering the Holy Realm on the very night the crisis broke out. This was beyond our premonition. I believe there was some kind of prior conspiracy behind this."
"I even suspect they are closely linked to the problems the Holy Realm is facing."
The regional archbishop felt uneasy in his heart.
"Archbishop, will the situation in the Holy Realm... not be worsened because of us?"
"No."
The regional archbishop waved his hand. "The invaders have been monitored. This was an emergency, and our response was not flawed. There's no need to dwell on past events."
"Yes!"
After discovering that the pa.s.sage to the Holy Realm had been forcibly breached, the regional archbishop did not pursue the invaders but instead immediately led his people to reseal the Holy Realm, sending a warning message to the Holy Realm.
They then quickly rebooted the defensive barrier, sealing the entrance to the Holy Realm once again.
"The three judges have united to activate the defensive barrier restrictions. The Elemental race's guard reinforcement team has also blocked the teleportation pa.s.sage. We've resealed the pa.s.sage as soon as possible," the chief guard reported with some unease.
"But Archbishop, the Shadow Alliance has already begun invading the trial cavern. I'm worried..."
"Do not worry. Focus on your own tasks. The cavern will be a.s.sisted by others in defending it."
"Yes! Understood!"
At this moment, several kilometers away from the Mist Temple, Fang Heng stood on the back of a Bone Dragon, looking ahead at the mountain peak glowing with golden divine light.
The peak was shrouded in a thick layer of mist, but through the clouds, Fang Heng could still see the faint golden radiance leaking through.
A defensive barrier!
Fang Heng immediately recognized what it was.
Well then!
The defensive barrier alone was already emitting such powerful energy fluctuations.
This must consume an enormous amount of strength.
Wasn't this a bit of a waste?
As they approached the Holy Court's Holy Mountain, the Bone Dragon beneath Fang Heng's feet let out weak tremors, clearly disturbed by the holy aura emanating from the area.
Fang Heng glanced at the Holy Mountain from afar.
If they forcibly entered the Holy Mountain's area, the Bone Dragon's power would be significantly weakened.
Moreover...
Fang Heng sensed that there were many other forces surrounding the Holy Mountain.
Elemental power?
Fang Heng was slightly puzzled. He controlled the Bone Dragon to gradually lower its flight alt.i.tude, looking at the base of the Holy Mountain from afar.
There were people down there!
Though he couldn't make out details, he could feel that the area was gathering a large amount of dark power that was completely different from the Holy Court's holy aura.
It seemed very likely that these were people from the Shadow Alliance.
"The Holy Court's defenses here are very strong. If we approach recklessly, we might provoke their concentrated fire and alert them. Let's not get too close for now. We'll land first."
Fang Heng knew his ident.i.ty was special, and provoking the Holy Court might have the opposite effect. So, he signaled to Ji Xiaobo and Tang Chuji, and led the group to dismount from the flying Bone Dragon.
Soon, they were walking closer to the base of the Holy Court's Holy Mountain, where they saw a large group of people gathering near the mountain's foot.
Fang Heng whispered, "Do you recognize them?"
"No, but I suspect they might be from the Shadow Alliance."
"The undead council declared permanent neutrality some time ago, so they won't join any other alliance-like organizations."
Tang Chuji gazed at the people in the distance and whispered, "Players aren't restricted by this, but since we haven't interacted much with them, it's unclear who they are."
As they got closer, Fang Heng realized that the area ahead was densely packed with tents.
At this moment, someone had noticed their approach.
One of them recognized Fang Heng's silhouette and the mask on his face, showing a surprised expression before quietly retreating to report to others.
"Stop!"
Seeing someone approaching, a few members of the Shadow Alliance turned to face Fang Heng and the group.
"Who are you? What's your ident.i.ty?"
It was Ji Xiaobo's turn to step up. He gave Fang Heng a look and moved forward to handle the situation.
"We are from the Shadow Guild. We've always been at odds with the Holy Court. We heard about the Shadow Alliance's plan to confront the Holy Court, so we came here to join in," Ji Xiaobo said, taking a few steps forward. "What about you? Are you from the Shadow Alliance?"
"Yes, the Alliance sent us to guard this place and prevent outsiders from entering. You claim to be from the Shadow Guild, but do you have any proof?"
Huh?
Ji Xiaobo froze for a moment.
Proof?
He considered himself well-acquainted with the Shadow Guild, but he had never heard of them having any kind of proof.
"If you don't have proof, don't blame us," the guard said coldly, sizing up Fang Heng and his group. He adopted a battle-ready stance and said, "Tell us, who are you really? Why are you pretending to be from the Shadow Guild?"
As he spoke, more than ten people had surrounded them.
