Chapter 575 - There’s No Need To Let Your Imagination Go Wild
Xian Guiying's hand holding the towel stiffened as she stared at Qin Gengxin in disbelief. She then looked toward the door. "What era is this? Is there even such a thing as listening to someone from the door?"
She muttered under her breath as she looked at the door from afar. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of conversation did the Old Woman wanted to listen to.
It wasn't like they were putting on a show in front of a mansion. This Old Woman truly was an amazing woman!
"Considering grandma's age, she came from that era and her mind is a bit old-fas.h.i.+oned. It's natural for her to do something like that." Qin Gengxin also said softly before he closed the door to the balcony. He then raised his voice, "Is your hair dry? Hurry up and sleep."
His voice was loud enough for people outside the door to hear. He then pulled on his s.h.i.+rt collar and walked to the bathroom.
Xian Guiying just looked at him. Originally, she wanted to talk about the matter of having a baby, but since the Old Woman was outside, she didn't know how to say it. She immediately replied loudly, "Not yet."
After saying that, she turned around and took out a hairdryer. Qin Gengxin went straight into the bathroom.
There was no sound from outside the door, nor were there any footsteps. It was likely that the Old Woman had not left yet.
Xian Guiying blew on her hair as she looked at the door from time to time. She tried to figure out what the Old Woman wanted to hear. Did she want to listen to the sounds of her grandson and her granddaughter-in-law in bed?
It can't be, right?
Thinking about this, Xian Guiying's mouth twitched. She put down the hairdryer, smoothed her hair with her fingers, and changed back into a light nightgown. Originally, she was supposed to sleep and read a few pages of a magazine before bed, but after hearing the sound of water in the bathroom, she thought for a moment and sat still on the bed.
When she thought about the Old Woman's personality and then thought about her grandfather, she suddenly felt relieved.
It seemed that the temperament of the men of her Xian Family was not considered eccentric. The strangeness actually lies in the Qin Family. It was unknown how her grandfather had offended this Old Woman many years ago.
Qin Gengxin came out of the shower with only a towel wrapped around his waist while the other hand dried his hair. He saw Xian Guiying wearing a nightgown only until her hips. She was sitting at the chair in the corner of the room, reading a magazine.
His gaze lingered at her for a moment before he walked over and s.n.a.t.c.hed the magazine in her hand. He closed it and put it down on the table.
Xian Guiying abruptly looked at him. "You …"
However, Qin Gengxin signaled for her to sleep. When Xian Guiying frowned and refused to cooperate, he pointed with his chin toward the door, reminding her not to ruin the show.
Xian Guiying pouted and sat on the bed. She lifted the blanket and went inside. Then she rolled to the other side of the bed with her eyes closed. She didn't want to give the blanket to him.
Qin Gengxin looked at her rare childish action with a smile. He grabbed an empty gla.s.s, walked to the door, and opened it.
The Old Woman stood by the door. When the door opened, she was startled for a moment. She quickly stood up and smiled at her grandson. "You're still awake?"
Qin Gengxin raised his eyebrows. The Old Woman was standing at an angle that allowed her to see Xian Guiying, who had gone to bed. She then looked back to Qin Gengxin. He seemed perfectly normal, with only his lower body wrapped in a towel.
"Ah, the flush valve on the toilet in my room seems broken. I just went to the toilet in the other room and pa.s.sed by." The Old Woman casually explained and did not intend to leave right away. She looked at the bed and said, "She's asleep? Since she's already sleeping, I won't bother her anymore."
Qin Gengxin smiled. "Then you should go to bed early."
With that, he closed the door and placed the empty gla.s.s back on the table. When he looked at the bed, Xian Guiying was already crawling out from under the blanket and staring at him with a judgmental look.
Qin Gengxin remained silent and stared back at her. There was an emotion in his eyes, and that emotion was very natural, so natural that her hand, which was still holding onto the blanket, loosened a little.
He then pulled the blanket over himself and lay on the side of the bed, sharing the blanket with her. At the same time, he whispered, "There's no need to let your imagination go wild."
"I do not imagine anything. My mind is in a mess and today is the first time in my life I've seen someone trying to eavesdrop on us outside the door. It feels really weird." Xian Guiying spoke in a low voice as she told him the truth. Afterward, she gently moved to the side and kept a distance away from him.
Sensing her soft movements, Qin Gengxin didn't say anything. He had just picked up a magazine she had read before, and since it was a business magazine, he started reading it. As he read, he said, "You can go to sleep."
They had known each other for eleven years and had been husband and wife for two years. Other than that night when he was drunk, they had never shared the same bed together. This kind of married life, which was far too real, had actually made Xian Guiying, who was used to the cold and hostile relations.h.i.+ps, feel at ease and not panic.
Qin Gengxin read the magazine seriously under the light of the bedside lamp. Xian Guiying only looked at him for a moment before she lay on her back and covered herself with a blanket. She turned around with her back facing him and closed her eyes.
The bedroom was very quiet, with only the occasional sound of flipping through the pages of a magazine.
When Qin Gengxin turned to the next page, he saw a photo of himself on it. Usually, he didn't read a lot of magazines, but he knew that because of his ident.i.ty, the PR department often spreads some positive news to the media, consolidating his reputation. He didn't think about it at first, but when he looked around the room, he saw there were some old magazines on the small shelf next to the edge of the bed.
Eighty percent of these magazines had news about him or even interviews with the higher-ups of Qin Corporation.
