Chapter 245: Transdimensional Academy Established! (2)
Chapter 245 – Transdimensional Academy Established! (2)
Regardless of what kind of mood the world’s various academic inst.i.tutions were currently in, Chen Yu felt animated right now.
After he had sought confirmation multiple times, 362 out of the 385 professors present had agreed to reside within the castle and become the Transdimensional Academy’s permanent lecturers and researchers. He had also set up strict regulations for using the library, allowing the professors to read only the academic papers relevant to their field of expertise.
Meanwhile, Hermione would serve as the library’s curator.
Regarding the enrollment of new students, Chen Yu decided to issue invitation letters to high school students with outstanding performance worldwide every January, April, July, and October. The invited students would then board the floating castle to undergo written examinations and interviews. If they pa.s.sed both of them, they would officially become a student of the Academy. They would also get to stay within the Academy and would not have to pay any school fees.
Chen Yu had carefully calculated the dates for his enrollment periods. For example, China’s College Entrance Examination would release students’ test scores on June 25th. During the July enrollment period, all he needed to do was to cull the various provinces and cities’ top students.
By doing so, he could rely on the various countries’ education systems to uncover top talents and attract them into his own academy for free.
To put it simply, he would basically be poaching the talents of the various universities…
The recruitment of researchers would operate in the same manner as well.
If a university or government was unwilling to let go of these researchers, he would simply pay these organizations a visit, have a chat with them and achieve a win-win situation in a friendly, docile, and peaceful manner.
Of course, he would still have to discuss his plan’s finer details with the various governments. However, he felt that with the various nations’ wisdom and understanding, he felt that his plan would progress relatively smoothly.
“I will stop talking about the Academy’s establishment for the time being. Professors who have agreed to the job, please follow the Auror mages to the auditorium. Department Head Hermione will allocate dormitories and officers for you and your students. Your dormitories will be set in Hogsmeade Village outside the castle to make better use of the s.p.a.ce available. Please forgive me for this.
“As for professors who have given up on the job, please gather in the central courtyard and wait to be teleported.
“Action.”
After driving the crowd away, Chen Yu looked at the camera and crossed his fingers, making his iconic gesture. “Friends and viewers in front of the screen, this is the end for today’s livestream. There shouldn’t be any other additional livestreams this month. The next time we meet will be during the eighth official livestream in three weeks.
“As for what’s going to happen next, there will be many important steps related to the Transdimensional Academy. They will be long and tedious, so there is no need to broadcast them.
“Liu Cixin’s novel, The Rural Teacher, has explained the great significance of education. The essence of genes is duplication, the essence of life is reproduction, the essence of civilization is inheritance, and the essence of inheritance is—education.
“I wasn’t smart when I was young, but I know how important education is. It had taken humans thousands of years to create the education systems available today. Going down the annals of history? That doesn’t matter to me.
“Compared to fame, what I want more is to see human civilization continue to grow and become the brightest light in this vast universe.
“Meanwhile, this school and I are both willing to become the first fuel for this light.”
[I’m in tears.]
[I’m moved.]
[UP, you’re a good role model.]
[I am proud of mankind!]
[Don’t leave us…]
[I am also willing to burn myself for civilization.]
[I’ve decided! I’m going to get into the Transdimensional Academy!]
[UP’s existence is mankind’s fortune.]
[I keep feeling that something is amiss, but I’ll just say the host is awesome for now.]
[Hubby, you’re the best! (ಥ_ಥ)]
“This is it for today’s livestream.”
Spreading his arms, Chen Yu smiled behind his mask.
“Let us meet again in the eighth official livestream.”
After Chen Yu said so, the screens of the livestream’s 14 million viewers simultaneously darkened.
“It’s finally over!”
Taking a deep breath, Chen Yu removed his mask and sat on the wooden chair by the library’s window. After resting for a short while, he made his way up to the second floor, stood before a bookshelf, and quietly stared at the sign above the bookshelf.
Civilization’s s.h.i.+ning Moment – Children’s Edition.
These were the words written on the sign.
However, there was not a single journal stored on the bookshelf.
This bookshelf was also the sole bookshelf in the entire library that was empty. It was evident that the contents here had been taken away deliberately.
After a moment of silence, Chen Yu raised his wrist and looked at the time. Putting his mask back on, he turned around, went downstairs, and left the library. “It’s still not time to rest yet.”
Standing by the library’s entrance was an Auror mage disguised as a security robot, and the robot blankly stared at his disappearing back…
…
When Chen Yu returned to the castle complex’s central courtyard, he found the 23 professors unwilling to take a post in the Transdimensional Academy. Currently, these professors were having quiet discussions with each other. Meanwhile, the students of these professors stood in a corner with complicated expressions on these faces.
Almost all of these students wanted to stay in the castle. However, as they couldn’t change the mind of their “bosses,” they had no choice but to let matters drift.
“h.e.l.lo.”
“h.e.l.lo, Mr. King.”
“h.e.l.lo, UP.”
Upon seeing Chen Yu appearing, the professors awkwardly greeted him.
“Don’t feel burdened. It is normal for everyone to have their own ideas. I respect your decision,” Chen Yu calmly said while generously waving his hand. “Please remember that you are all academic giants. The Transdimensional Academy’s doors are forever open for you. Then, I will now send you all back.
“M-Mr. King.” A middle-aged black professor suddenly raised his hand. After hesitating for some time, he gritted his teeth and said, “S-Since you’ve said so, I-I-‘ve decided to work in the Academy.”
“Regretting your decision?”
“Mhm.”
“Hehe, too late!” Chen Yu suddenly laughed. “Are you dreaming? You think you can join and leave whenever you want?”
“…B-But didn’t you say Academy’s doors are always open…”
“It might remain open forever, but I never said I would let you in. Now, line up and get ready to leave.”
The black professor: “…”
Everyone else: “…”
Roughly 10 minutes later, Chen Yu finished sending the professors away. He then patted the non-existent dust off his hands and said to himself, “If you can’t even understand polite remarks, why bother doing scientific research?”
Following this, Chen Yu reached out to the virtual map and entered the United Nations’ headquarters’ coordinates. He then chose to establish the spatial link and took a few steps back.
Next up was the last step in establis.h.i.+ng the Transdimensional Academy.
Buzz!
Three seconds later, s.p.a.ce stopped distorting, and a plaza decorated appeared with national flags appeared within the metal arch.
At this time, the plaza was crowded with people dressed in suits and leather shoes or ethnic formal attire.
Upon seeing the Interstellar Portal’s appearance, everyone in the plaza promptly tensed up.
Without any need for Chen Yu to say anything, the crowd promptly walked into the portal in an orderly manner and arrived inside the floating castle.
“h.e.l.lo!”
“h.e.l.lo, UP.”
“It’s an honor to meet you.”
“I’m from Korea…”
The representatives lined up and greeted Chen Yu one after another.
“Greetings, fat sheep.” Nodding, Chen Yu said, “I’m very sorry for the delay.”
“F-Fat sheep?” China’s representative couldn’t help but be taken aback.
“Hm? Oh! I mean, to welcome you all, we have prepared a specially roasted lamb in the cafeteria.” Pointing in the cafeteria’s direction, Chen Yu said, “If you don’t mind, we can talk after the meeting.”
“We—”
“Well, seeing that you guys seem to be in a hurry, let’s start the meeting first, then.” After saying so, Chen Yu spontaneously pointed to the second-floor conference hall and said, “Everyone, follow me.”
The representatives: “…”
