Chapter 72: Don’t Be so High-Profile in Lu Firm (2)
“Yes.”
“Send Director Zhang’s phone number to me. I need to report to him about work over the phone.”
“Yes.” Zhang Cui hurriedly took out her cell phone and sent it.
“You can go out now.”
“Yes.”
Lu Manman looked at the caller ID and dialed it without hesitation. “h.e.l.lo, Director Zhang. I’m Lu Manman.”
“h.e.l.lo, h.e.l.lo.” The person on the other end was very cautious and respectful.
He probably knew who she was.
“You’re not around, so I can’t report my work in person. I can only do it over the phone. I hope you don’t mind,” Lu Manman said politely.
“Of course not. I just finished my meeting. Please speak your mind.”
“I’m preparing to adjust the staff in the Marketing Department. I’ve done some research today and found that some of the employees are no longer suitable for their positions. We might need to lay off some of our employees. I’ll discuss this with the department tomorrow morning, and I hope to receive your full support.”
“About the layoff…” Zhang Xiande did not seem to agree with her.
“I will report this to the chairman in private. Don’t worry, Director Zhang,” Lu Manman said directly. She appeared to be trying to resolve Zhang Xiande’s concerns, but actually, she did not want him to reject her. No matter what her status was, she was still the executive a.s.sistant, not the director. She could not be above her status.
“Since you’ve said so, I don’t have anything else to say.” Zhang Xiande’s tone was not too good.
After all, it did not feel good to listen to someone below his position.
Meanwhile, Lu Manman did not have to care about how others felt. She had the upper hand now, and that was all that mattered to her as the leader. She had managed to gain a strong foothold in the Lu Firm through internal adjustments and layoffs, thus deepening everyone’s impression of her. On the other hand, she felt that the Lu Firm’s old structure and talents needed to be updated and that businesses could not remain the same.
Since there were changes, she should start with her appearance!
After hanging up, Lu Manman was ready to go through the doc.u.ments again when her cell phone rang.
She looked at the incoming call, and her eyes narrowed. “Mo Yuanxiu.”
“Miss Lu is at work?”
“You know everything.”
“I’ve always been interested in you.” Mo Yuanxiu’s low and charismatic voice sounded. Even though she knew that these were meaningless sweet nothings, she did not find it pretentious at all. In fact, there was something indescribable in his voice.
“Is anything the matter?” Lu Manman asked coldly.
“Let’s have dinner tonight to celebrate your first day at work?”
“No need. I’m busy.”
“Miss Lu, I can support you. You don’t have to work so hard.”
“Thank you, but I’m used to living on my own.” Lu Manman declined. She smiled and continued to say, “Men’s promises are not to be trusted.”
“Is that so?” Mo Yuanxiu smiled as if he was used to not reb.u.t.ting himself. “Then, I won’t disturb Miss Lu’s work.”
“Mo Yuanxiu,” Lu Manman called out suddenly.
“Mm?”
“Don’t be so high-profile in your proposal.” Lu Manman could not take it anymore.
She would be devastated if there were advertis.e.m.e.nts for his proposal everywhere she went!
“You don’t like it?” Mo Yuanxiu asked very seriously.
“You think I like it?!” Lu Manman rolled her eyes.
“Who knows?”
“I don’t like it,” Lu Manman said slowly. “That’s why we should call off the advertis.e.m.e.nts. There’s a limit to what we can do to agitate Wen Yun. Things always backfire when they reach their limits.”
