Chapter 18: Year 1213, 6th month, 5rd day - Kingdom of Kant - Very early in the morning

Surrounded by monsters whose height leaves them a little perplexed, two men with ungrateful faces turn to a third who rubs his big nose. The man is quick-witted. After 2 short minutes of awkward silence, he opens his little purse and a.s.suming that it must be the border or some wild control of the army of this Kingdom, he throws a copper coin in front of the enormous foot of one of the demons.

These three men, whom nature saw fit to punish while they were still only in their mother's womb, have been galloping continuously, or almost continuously, for days. Living at the rhythm of their horses, they only stopped when the horses had to fulfill their vital needs or sleep. Like those brave animals that takes them away from the place they're running from, they ate gra.s.s and like them, they dived their heads into the streams to quench their thirst.

When Bébert, Mario and Pietro, the brain of this small elite team, managed to bribe a soldier as stupid as them by promising him that if he freed them, their boss, a man even more important than Griven's town chief, would be for him very grateful, not waiting a moment, they rushed out of the prison.

Free, after breathing in a large bowl of fresh air, they undertaken again to kidnap the horned child. However, life is sometimes very cruel and when they learned that the little girl had run away the day before, after stealing some gold and some pears from a merchant whom they tied up like a roast calf before throwing him into a well, they knocked out the groom present at the stables and then they borrowed 3 horses.

Bébert didn't understand when, before running away, Pietro raised his big nose to the sky and began to smell the stale air in the stables. But when his boss's eyes have tinted of this intelligence that they only possess when this man has an idea, his one and only hand was already clapping against a wooden pillar.

"My instinct tells me to go East. To be able to feel our presence, this child is certainly a clever girl, but she ignores the fact that I, too, have a nose that can flush out a rat hiding in an onion field."

And so they headed east. And so, they were surprised when along the way they came across villages with nothing but ruins and whole fields of torn-up human bodies, planted on long wooden stakes. Death, surrounded them as far as the eye could see, and finally the three men, too mean and simple to know fear, came face to face with this army of giants.

"Wait, these men sweat stupidity and greed, but I can detect on them a very slight trace of the energy belonging to my family. You, the three uglies, have you seen a little brown girl with two adorable little horns on her head?"

In front of the young beauty who has just crossed the Demon's Wall, the three idiots who are normally slow-witted, feel the few neurons they possess going dormant.

Fortunately, the clever Pietro reacts very quickly. Of course, the G.o.ddess has upset him somewhat, but however beautiful this young girl with her already well developed chest is, she won't steal his livelihood.

As knights do in front of the royal families of this world, Pietro places his right hand on his heart. To demonstrate his humble peasant's condition in front of this sublime and powerful Miss, he points his nose to the ground, then, with dignity, he puts his right knee on the ground. If it would allow him to keep his life, Pietro would gladly lick the blond angel's calves, but as sad as it is, she's not asking him to.

"Yes, Your Great Beauty, we have indeed crossed the path of a little horned girl, unfortunately, with a kick in her a.s.s, the King of this country threw her into the abyss from which no one has ever returned...

Pietro raises his nose slightly. The girl's icy eyes resting on him immediately make him tremble, but without forgetting the gold coins that the child will bring back when his small elite team will sell her, he continues his story.

... There are mage in this world who can create dimensional portals. For about a century, following the rebellion of a horned being, all those unfortunate people have been thrown through this portal into a world where danger is a euphemism. So, and note that I am the first one to be sorry, the little girl who got her a.s.s kicked must have already landed in a tree in this horrible world. "

So that's the reason why her little cousin's presence has totally disappeared...

"Well, then there's no need for us to stay here any longer. As for you, you have the grat.i.tude of Méria, first Princess of h.e.l.l. Take this talisman. If one day you find yourself in a situation that you cannot handle alone, break it and I will come to you immediately. Legions, I must confer with the wise men. Direction, the h.e.l.ls."

The small elite team watches the giants suddenly disappear and when Mario sees the little black token at Pietro's feet, his curiosity is at its peak. Taking advantage of the fact that his brother still has his nose pointed forward, he discreetly bends over and picks it up. With the little token in his hand, he turns it around, studies both sides, but seeing nothing magical in it, he decides to test the reliability of the object.

(Crack) "Oh? I never thought a dried-up piece of dirt could have such magical powers!"

The blonde girl who just reappeared in front of Mario, takes a deep breath not to kill this man whose intelligence must be close to that of an amoeba. Without uttering a word, she makes another token appear in her hand, then to relieve her anger a little, she throws it in the face of the little bald man and evaporates again in the air.

...

1213, 6th month, 5rd day - Kingdom of Antomea - Early in the morning

In a large house adjoining the adventurers' guild, Helene discreetly enters one of the four rooms on the second floor. The sun's rays still dimly illuminate the town of Griven, but she already has to leave for work, and this morning another person has to wake up early.

Helene takes a few steps to reach a large bed where small cute squeaks come from. Slowly she sits down on this beautiful, comfortable mattress, which makes her want to lie down next to the sleeping child. She looks at the funny little face which for some obscure reason makes a strange grimace. Helene takes her handkerchief out of her pocket to wipe the drool that runs from the little mouth. Wanting to take advantage of one of the rare periods of calm the child has, she caresses for a few seconds the long tangled hair of the little angel who emits a low growl.

However, time does not allow her to cuddle the little girl as much as she would like and although she regrets it, a smile appears on her lips when her fingers crush the little nose.

"Wrong woman, you may wear pretty clothes now, but you're still as unpleasant as ever."

Ahh, how sad to be forced to wake up this little Hera... "Come on sweetie, get up! To make up for burning down his shed while playing with candles, you promised Caius that today you'd intern at the adventurers guild. You wouldn't want to see Caius unhappy, would you?"

Hera, growl a little. It's not his fault that the shed went up in smoke. She was having fun comparing which hay, fox fur or wood burns faster, when the wind had the bad idea of seeping through the rotten wood planks. She did try to explain to Caius who the culprit was, but he was too angry to listen. Never mind, maybe working in the guild will be fun.

"Hmm, this artifact Caius gave me is very effective. This morning, I can no longer feel the presence of the disaster Méria. Helene, I didn't get my morning kiss."

This child does nothing but nonsense, but her heart is huge. That is the thought in Helene's mind as her mouth gently rests on the beautiful little girl's forehead.

"Ouch."

"Huhuhu"

This child has a huge heart but she's a real little devil. That's what Helene thinks when two little canines slightly penetrate her neck.
