"Edible, not edible, we'll never know unless we try. It not like we have better options in terms of food." Says the old man as he walks out from behind the crowd. The rest instantly agree with him. It looks like the old man is well respected in the community. He takes the Kami fruit from Tommy's hand, knocks on it with his hand, then cuts it with a slightly sharp rock,"Tommy, go get the cleaver," he orders the young man.
Tommy quickly complies and fetches the cleaver made out of some kind of metal. The old man sets the Kami fruit on a smooth rock by the edge of the lake, takes the cleaver, and slices right down the middle. The inside of the fruit is a pale blue with the texture of a raw potato. The old man slices a piece of the fruit and sends it straight into his mouth.
"AH!" The crowd gasps. Some look like they want to make the old man spit it out, but in the end, they respect his choice.
Surprise is written all over the old man's face as he swallows the fruit,"This..."
"What?" Annabelle asks, worried.
"It tastes like plumberry..."
"Eh?" The crowd looks shocked.
Hmm? Hmm? What's plumberry? While splicing the seeds, I never actually got a chance to taste it, so although i knew it's very nutritious, I had no idea what it tasted like. It could have tasted like dirt for all I knew. But plumberry? What's plumberry? Is it the berry bush I took from the pot? I'll have to a.s.sume so...
After the initial shock dies down, a few extremely bony villagers follow the old man in trying the Kami fruit.
"This! It tastes like a plumberry, but has the texture of wafsle root!"
"Right?! And the sh.e.l.l is like a softer version of the duntrup nut!"
The bony group excitedly discuss the Kami fruit's similarities to other plants. I don't recognize any of the terms they're using, but I can kinda tell which plants they're talking about by relating which seeds gave which attribute to the Kami fruit and what they're calling each seed. Confusing? Try putting yourself in my shoes.
