Zhou Lei became more confused as time went by.

"What the heck?! Why am I not getting points? Is this game rigged?"

He had finished this song for the thirteenth time now, yet there still wasn't any discernible improvement when compared to him from an hour ago.

He panted as he swiped his card again, hoping that he could at least get two points...

However, before he could even select the song, a hand grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the machine.

"Eh- huh?" Zhou Lei turned his head to look at the person who was holding his arm.

As he did, he saw a girl looking at him like he was dumb. At the same time, the look of disdain on her face turned into one of determination.

"Aren't you Lin Hanying?" Zhou Lei recognized the face from before. It was the transfer student.

Lin Guiying was visibly startled before coming back to her senses. She recalled that her name in school was Lin Hanying, and that she was wearing the disguise she used to attend school at the moment.

"Yes. So, are you from my school?" Lin Guiying found his voice refres.h.i.+ng, but also familiar. She deduced that, from the name she called her and the voice that she found familiar, he was one of her new schoolmates.

"Uh, yes." As he said that, Zhou Lei removed his facemask and put his hoodie down, revealing his handsome face to her.

Even though Lin Guiying had already seen one too many handsome faces, this one was... no doubt, above the others!

She finally remembered where that voice came from. It was from the guy who everyone crowded around until he mysteriously disappeared.

At that time, his seat was suddenly occupied by someone else - a fat student. He also had dog s**t under his shoes.

That was the only day she wasn't busy and had the time to attend school. On Thursday and Friday, she had something to do, so she was not present.

"Yes, I am." Zhou Lei nodded as he answered her question. "So, why did you pull me off?"

Lin Guiying didn't respond. Instead, she let go of Zhou Lei's arm, walked onto the machine, and played the song he was playing earlier.

"Watch me," Lin Guiying said, before the song started.

Within a second, the screen on the machine was filled with arrows.

Zhou Lei twitched upon seeing it.

However, Lin Guiying did not flinch in the slightest. She grabbed onto the bar behind her as she shook her feet.

Finally, the first arrow reached the top.

Lin Guiying stepped on the left arrow.

.....

Zhou Jiahao returned after his wife sent him to shop for groceries.

"Lei, open the door!" He struggled to enunciate every word, as he panted between each one.

Zhou Xiang heard her husband and stood up from the sofa.

He had taken so long that the vegetables in the kitchen were already moldy!

Well, not really, but...

Anyways, she walked towards the door with one eyebrow raised.

Outside, Zhou Jiahao inhaled and exhaled deep breathes as he put down all of the groceries he bought.

His two hands were on his knees, with him occasionally wiping the sweat off of his forehead as more trickled down.

The door opened in front of him, and his expression changed as he creased his eyebrows.

"What took you so long?!" Zhou Jiahao screamed, before he widened his eyes as his wife stood in front of the door with crossed arms.

Oh, it's not my son...

She had an unsatisfied expression on her face.

"What about you? What took you so long?" She calmly uttered each word as her eyes moved from her husband to the two paper bags beside his feet. "And pick those up. What are you doing, putting them on the ground like that?"

Zhou Jiahao smiled as he wrapped his hands around the paper bags and said, "Yes, yes, honey."

I need to appease her anger...

He tried to pick up the groceries, but his arms were too tired as they trembled when he attempted. Not to mention that they were heavy, so much so that even when he wasn't tired, he still struggled to lift them off of the table, he had to carry them from the market to their house!

Zhou Xiang sneered, walked up to the groceries, and picked them up herself with ease.

She carried them all the way to the kitchen counter. "Why are you staring like an idiot? Get up already!"

Zhou Jiahao immediately stood up and sucked up to her to avoid sleeping on the sofa.

"Honey, you know, I love you..."

Zhou Xiang's mood was already quite bad as she waited for her husband to come home, but now that he was shamelessly sucking up to her, it made her mood worsen even more.

Zhou Jiahao observed his wife's expression as it went from bad to worse. He stopped talking as he walked away quietly.

He looked around the living room, but he didn't see his son. He opened the door to the other rooms, but the only one he saw was his little daughter, studying earnestly.

'Hmm, where did Lei go?' Zhou Jiahao's curiosity was itching. He needed to know where his son was, otherwise, he wouldn't be able to rest well.

He considered asking his wife, but as soon as he recalled the fearsome expression on her face, he dismissed the notion completely.

"Well... I just... wait for him, I guess..."

.....

In an apartment, the one beside Wen Hui's...

A teacher was typing out a quiz for his students. It was an science quiz for fifth graders.

However, as he was extremely sleepy, he didn't notice that his questions bordered on the boundary between elementary and middle school...

The teacher's head was slowly going down before coming back up again. This happened a number of times, until eventually, he fell asleep.

Someone knocked on the door, waking the teacher up.

"Bai Peng, open up the door!"

The knocks gradually escalated from casual taps with her knuckles, to violent banging.

Bai Peng stood up as he readjusted his gla.s.ses and pushed back his chair. "Coming!"

He opened his door, and outside was Wen Hui, carrying 2 cans.

She let herself in and made herself at home.

Sitting on the sofa, she put one can down on the table and opened the other, with it making a hissing sound. She put it on her mouth and drank it.

The can on the table was of coffee, while the one in Wen Hui's hand was beer.

Seeing this, Bai Peng remained unfazed, closing the door behind him as he walked back to his computer.

He grabbed the can of coffee on the way and drank it, making him feel reinvigorated.

"Ah... thanks."
