Light rain had started to fall mid-morning. It was enough to make the ground muddy, but nowhere near bad enough to really slow them down.

Dawn found the light rain to be refres.h.i.+ng. Not all of her companions seemed to share that sentiment but it was not like they could change the weather so she just let herself enjoy it.

It felt rather nice to tilt her head back and let the raindrops land on her face. It was refres.h.i.+ng with how cool the droplets were.

Even before she had met Arrion she had had a fondness for the light rains. It was only after she had met him that she had come to appreciate even the thunder storms. But light rain was so gentle, and it stirred the ground producing that fresh rain smell that she had always loved.

She noticed that Raven also seemed to enjoy the rain, though he did not quite tilt his head to receive it, but he did catch it in his hand and let it slowly trickle out.

She almost laughed when she saw how he was playing with it in an almost absent-minded way. Her mouth did quirk up though she managed to keep from actually making any noise.

She looked around at the others, taking in their att.i.tude towards the rain. The two sibling rangers seemed indifferent, as did the rogue though she seemed to have a bit more trouble in it. Aldresh seemed to downright dislike the rain. The rest of the party had more difficulty from the rain, though not hating it like the one sorcerer.

It was to them just weather, not particularly bad weather, but perhaps not the weather they liked to travel in.

Raven really did seem to be the only one who shared her sentiments towards the rain as being something pleasant.

"You seem in a good mood, my queen." His voice broke into her thoughts, making her turn to look at him. A slight smile hovered on his lips.

"Do I?" She laughed softly, "I just love the rain. You seem to enjoy it as well, my friend."

"Rain, suns.h.i.+ne, snow, or whatever the weather be – there is always something to find enjoyable." He shrugged, almost but not quite nonchalantly. "And its all necessary for life, really. Without rain plants wouldn't grow, and without plants animals would have nothing to eat. So rain is a necessary part of life, and a wonderful one as well."

It was a very druidy thing to say, and Dawn smiled at him, "So what about lightning what does it do?"

"I have no idea," He grinned, "But I am sure it does something very necessary."

"You aren't even going to pretend to know?"

"There is no shame in not knowing the answer to something. If I made an answer up and then was proved wrong, there would be far more shame in that, no wouldn't there?"

He patted her hand as he spoke, before leaning back on Zyph's back and looking up at the sky, falling deep into thought.

Dawn could not help but wonder exactly what was going through his mind. She figured it was related to the weather, but he had fallen silent again, making her unsure exactly what he was thinking.
