The Spectacles of Death u0026 Fate Cutters: Chapter Forty-Seven

It was late into the night, and I was the last woman standing. The three of them Cecily, Ekon, and Mime had all pa.s.sed out. The night had been fun, and we'd all become fast friends. We'd all had a shared interest in our love of cute things.

Plus, the fact that Mime had soft and cute ears and tails had helped.

Smiling at the thought of petting his ears and tail, I go and grab a blanket from a drawer and walks back towards the three of them. They'd all fallen fast asleep on the couch with each other.

Ekon and Mime were on either side of Cecily. While Cecily was smack dab in the middle of them both. She had her hands wrapped tightly around Mimes tail, her little head tilting back and forth as she slept.

Ekon had an arm around her, and he was leaning with his head back against the back of the couch. Mime was laying on his side, with his head tucked between his arm, on the other side of Cecily.

Chuckling, I drape the blanket over the three of them. They are all sound asleep and with them all bundled under a blanket together, they looked even more adorable than normal. I felt my heart squeeze as I look at all of them.

Tiptoeing away, I climb onto my bed and cross my legs, sitting with my back against a mess of pillows.

I now had something to do.

Waving my hand over my bed a few things appear and I look down at them. Sitting on my bed are the two gifts that I had gotten from the G.o.ddess. However, I'd been unable to open them until now.

The first was the mirror-like box that was the size of a child's fist, that had the skull with a black bow that was constantly leaking black fog from its mouth. Next to it was the box that was as long as my arm and covered in the inky black starlight.

They each had a stipulation to them being open. The first requirement was a level restriction, and the second was a strength requirement.

With this last hunt, I'd been able to level up to where I needed to be, and I'd also managed to meet the minimum strength requirement. I should be able to open both of the presents that the G.o.ddess had gifted to me.

Before that, I should take a look at my statues.

"Life Page," I whisper.

「Name: Hollis Grey Astley

Race: Pure-Blooded Vampire Level: 30 (50%)

Cla.s.s: n/a Job: n/a

Strength: 40 Endurance: 34.5 Agility: 50.5 Vitality: 57.5

MP: 1,030 HP: 1450 Pa.s.sives: Triple Exp

Skill(s): Counter (Lv.4), Counter Strike (Lvl.3), Evasion (Lvl.5), Stealth (Lvl.3), Critical Hit (Lvl.4), Lethal Strike (Lvl.1), Bloodl.u.s.t Detection (Lvl.1), Fortress Stance etc.

Unique Skill(s): Appraisal (Lvl.3), Devour (Lvl.2), High-Stakes Dice, War Might 」

I'd gained a total of twenty-five levels in the past three years, and I'd also managed to increase all of my stats by a large amount. For every level that I got the total mana points, I had increased by ten. While my health points increased by forty each time.

Also, for every level, my strength, endurance, agility, and vitality are increased by half a point. However, this would change once I got my cla.s.s. When you pick a cla.s.s, you will get an increase in certain areas depending on which cla.s.s you choose.

For instance, if you were to pick a tank then you'd get more strength, vitality, and health points. That doesn't mean that you don't get points for the other's it just becomes harder to level those up. It was almost like a balancing system that was built into each cla.s.s.

But that didn't mean that you are unable to raise them high either, it just requires even more effort.

Waving a hand, I close my life page and turn my attention to the two boxes in front of me.

Reaching out I grab the small box first. It had a little weight to it but it wasn't that difficult to pick up. It's cool to the touch, and I felt my heartbeat even faster. I'd finally get to see what inside of these boxes.

After three long years of waiting, I'd come to speculate about what was inside of them. I'd also tried to open them but had failed to even tear the covering on them.

Tentatively, I pluck the skull of the box and it comes away without any resistance. My heart skips a beat as I place it down onto the sheets. Then I begin to tear at the paper on the box, it starts to come up with ease, as well. Feeling the excitement mount in my bones, I peeled faster and soon I'd stripped the box clean.

In my hands is a completely black box. It was cool and warm at the same time as if it was in a constant battle of will with itself. It was a little strange, to feel something that was cool but hot at the same time.

Twisting the box around I look for an edge, but after a pa.s.s I find none. I try again, and again… but still nothing…

There was no edge to the black box in my hand! That didn't mean that it was just a box, right?!

Had she given me a dud? That d.a.m.ned G.o.ddess, she was always causing me trouble! Tossing the box down next to the skull, I felt infuriated by this development.

But then it happened as if by some magic, the skull s.h.i.+ft towards the box and melts into the black box. Watching, I see the black box start to transform in front of me, it s.h.i.+fted itself into a pair of gla.s.ses. The skull that had sucked into the box was spat back out after the transformation happened.

Reaching out I pick up the gla.s.ses, they're a little heavy and feel luck warm. They're a s.h.i.+mmering silver similar to the packaging that had been on the outside of the box. Inspecting the frames of the gla.s.ses, I find that they're made up of bones.

Looking at the lens of the gla.s.ses, they are s.h.i.+fting and s.h.i.+mmering like a rainbow it's as if every color possible was glittering within the lens.

Only one word came to mind when I looked at them.

Beautiful!

「Appraisal」

「The Spectacles of Death」

「Designed after the Orb of all-Seeing Death that the G.o.ddess of Death uses. These gla.s.ses when feed MP can show the user weak points on weapons, armor, and even the individual's bodies. 500 MP is needed for two minutes of usage. 」

"Wow," I breathe out looking at them.

These spectacles are amazing, a little costly on MP usage, but for the price, they didn't disappoint in skill. Twisting the gla.s.ses, I felt like a giddy child.

What an interesting toy, I'd gotten from this G.o.ddess. Holding them in my hands for a moment longer, I keep looking at them.

Let's put them on.

Sliding them onto my face, the huge lens completely covers my eyes, and the world around me began to transform into a world of endless colors and a rainbow-like spectrum.

Now just how did I use them.

「Activation Cost 500 MP」

「Yes or No? 」

Oh, was it prompting me, wasn't that a convenient interface that it had? Looks like that's how I used them.

For now, I'd leave them be. Sliding the gla.s.ses up over my face the interface vanishes. Leaving them atop my head, I reach for the other present that the G.o.ddess had given to me.

This was the box that was about the length of my arm and covered in an inky black starlight paper. I couldn't contain my excitement this time around, and quickly rip through the paper and reveal a similarly black box.

However, this one wasn't seamless like the other box. There was a latch that let me open the box. Prying the box open, I felt the muscles in my arms twitch in protest it was so heavy!

Soon I managed to work the box open and I sucked in a deep breath.

Resting within the velvet interior of the box is a pair of … scissors…

What in the world?

Looking at them, I find that they are similar to the gla.s.ses that I had gotten. They're made up of bones as well, except it seems that it had been carved out of two bones. They are the same color as the paper covering the box, they're glittering like starlight.

The edge of the scissors is a glistening polished white, and I could feel the cold sharpness that emanated from the blades. Raising a finger, I run it down the creamy white polished edge. It's cold as ice, my finger felt numb as it ran over the blade.

Moving away from the blade, I hook a finger into the holds of the scissors and pry them from the velvet confines of the box.

As the came away from the velvet case, they began to expand until they're huge, at least the size of a great sword. I felt my muscle twitch as I hold onto the huge scissors.

Unlike the sword that my brother had gifted to me, there were ten times heavier, my arms feel like they'd been exerted to the limit as I hold them.

Just how heavy are these?

「Appraisal」

「Fate Cutters. ??? 」

Question marks?!

It didn't appear like my level was too low, it just seems like there wasn't any information regarding these scissors.

Lowering my arm, I lower them back towards the box, when they get near, they began to shrink back down in size.

Well, that was convenient at least...

But even with the smaller size, they're still just as heavy.

Taking the gla.s.ses off of my head, I put them down onto a bedside table and suck the other stuff back into my storage bank.

It was time I got to sleep, flicking my wrist the lights went out and I snuggle down into the bed.

I'd look into the scissor in the morning.
