Within a huge room, that had a long table in front of a giant throne. Around the room all sorts of tapestries that bore the symbol of a phoenix on them. A ma.s.sive pile of paperwork was stack on the table in front of the throne.
Situated around the table are at twelve officials that are all wearing proper cloaks, robes, and suits. They each were busying themselves in front of a stack of papers that were just above each of their heads.
Their hands worked tirelessly as they filled out doc.u.ment after doc.u.ment. Just before the throne, there was another table that was crafted from beautiful black wood, and a few items sat on the desk. A stamp and then some other knick-knacks and a few pens, before her, was also a large stack of paperwork.
Situated on both sides of the woman are two attendants. The attendant to her left was a woman that had a stern expression on her sharp features. Her hair was short about shoulder length and was half black half grey. Atop her head were two fluffy cat ears, that were respectively black and grey. Her tail curled around her body.
She's dressed in a prime suit that was impeccable, not a wrinkle nor a speck of dirt in sight. Resting on her pointed nose is a pair of round gla.s.ses, that makes her black cat eyes seem sharp and dangerous. In her hand is a thin sheet of gla.s.s, that has words on it.
To the right, the other attendant was a man that was dressed quite out of place. He was dressed in a full set of inky black armor, and a huge broad sword strapped to his back. His skin was the color of ash and two pointed ears stick out from the side of his head. A mane of blue hair is neatly braided down his head, and his glittering red eyes are on high alert.
Both of them standing guard to the woman at the throne.
The woman at the throne working on the paperwork was none other than Emberlynn. Her free hand was tapping the armrest of the throne at a slow pace. Her emerald eyes are skimming the paper at a speedy pace.
She's dressed completely in a white suit that looks like it's made of silky white gossamer. Her feet are clad in a smart pair of black heels. Her normally long ink-black hair was in an elegant braid. Pinned on her chest was a beautiful broach of a phoenix.
Finis.h.i.+ng the paper, she puts it down and lets out a sigh. She closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose.
"How much more paperwork do I have, Ora?" Emberlynn asks the cat-eared woman to her left.
"You're almost done. I believe there was a form about zoning to extend the walled area around the city," Ora says her cat tail curling and uncurling as she talks.
"Mm. Package them up! I'm leaving, my daughter's just gotten back into town. I'd like to be home when she arrives," Emberlynn says standing up from her throne.
"But your ladys.h.i.+p there's many more papers that need your approval!" A bearded man from the table in front of her says hastily standing up.
A few others at the table shoot him a glance of pity. It was ill-willed to get between the Governess and her daughter! It was like coming in front of a rabid dire wolf and its cub, you just shouldn't do it!
Some wished for the old man to succeed and persuade the lady. But that was just a pipe dream that they were too afraid to voice to the Governess themselves. They'd let the old man do it, he was the closest to the Governess.
"Oldman Raeran, I've been stuck in the munic.i.p.al building for the past three days! I've tolerated it because my daughter was out, but now that she's returned, I plan to take a break," Emberlynn says with a frosty look on her face.
But the old man wasn't going down without a fight!
"Your ladys.h.i.+p, please just finish the stack on your desk and then head home, the rest we can take care of! But those doc.u.ments need your approval!" The old man with a bread pleaded with a pitiful look.
He'd suffered a real heartache when he'd taken up the position as her chief advisor. But he'd never let it get to him, the ladys.h.i.+p was a smart and intelligent woman. Who managed her domain to a standard he'd only seen in her mother!
However, the moment she'd given birth to the youngest of her children, she'd turned into a completely different person. This was when the heartache for the old man had really begun.
"Raeran this is the reason I have you! I'll leave you my stamp, you'll take care of everything for me wouldn't you till I get back?" Emberlynn asks with a raised eyebrow as she steps around the throne and towards the old man.
He opens his mouth but realizes that he can't argue with her.
"Because you'd never do something that I wouldn't approve of would you?" She asks raising an eyebrow as she walks closer towards the old man.
He lowers his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"Of course, your ladys.h.i.+p. I'll handle it in your stead," he a.s.sent's, and the one that we're hoping he'd win hung their head in defeat. While the others all took a deep breath and buckled up for a long night ahead of them.
"I can always count on your Old man Raeran, I'll be back later," she says as she pats his shoulder and then begins to walk towards the grand door just ahead of the table.
However, just before she can open the door. The door is opened and a surprised messenger stumbles backward before they almost run into the Governess.
"Governess, you have a visitor waiting for you in meeting room one," a teenager with a neat outfit tells her. He was startled by almost running into his employer, but he quickly recovers himself. Effectively delivering the message to her.
"I don't remember planning to meet with anyone today! Ora?" Emberlynn asks turning towards her secretary.
"You're quite right. I don't have anyone on the schedule either," Ora says flicking a finger over her magic gla.s.s.
"Who's waiting in the room, child?" She asks the messenger.
"There from Clan Vaziel," he says promptly.
She raises an eyebrow but raises her hand and waves the boy out of her way. Without wasting any time, she quickly makes her way to the meeting room.
Following quickly behind her are her two attendants.
Arriving in front of the waiting room, she easily pushes open the door and the rowdy laughter of people talking enters her ears.
Sitting in a chair is a man that quite large like her husband. He's got a wide smile on his face, and large pearly white teeth are peaking out of his mouth. Atop of his head are two tiger ears, that are orange and stripped. His hair is similar and comes down around his shoulders and down his back slightly giving the appearance of a mane. His tails flicking behind him.
He's dressed in a slightly disheveled kimono, that's got the print of a tiger on it. The tigers completely fleshed out in the golden thread, while the kimono itself is black. Tiger like feet peeks out from his kimono.
The smile on his face stretches wider when he sees Emberlynn.
"Garrik Vaziel," Emberlynn says with a small smile.
"In the fles.h.!.+ You haven't changed a bit, since the last time I saw you. I'm afraid I've gotten a little rounder," he chuckles heartily. He stands up from the chair he's sitting in and raises a fist to his chest and gives it a thump.
This was a greeting that was commonly used by beastkin that is close to one another.
Emberlynn returned the gesture, stepping further into the room she takes a seat.
"Why didn't you tell me that you'd be visiting us? I would have planned a feast, I feel underprepared," she laughs softly.
"It was an unexpected visit, I had business in your homeland, and I thought that I might as well come and visit an old friend," he says smirking as he returned to his seat.
Her two attendants had closed the door and made their way inside.
"Well, an unexpected but well-welcomed visit!" She says.
"I feel bad that it's taken me so long to visit you, and Horace," he says bashfully as he rubs the back of his head.
"Please don't be, you've got your business to take care of and your wife, not to mention all of your children. It's me and Horace, who should be ashamed that we haven't visited an old friend," Emberlynn says waving her hand.
"You're too kind," he laughs.
"Don't say that too loud, I can't allow the others to find out about that," she chuckles.
"Father?" The soft voice of child sounds.
Walking around from the other side of the table is a little boy with the same orange hair and ears as Garrik. His orange hair is pulled up into a little ponytail. His little eyes are sharp and the color of hazel.
He's dressed in a simple kimono, that has the print of baby's tiger on it. He's dressed in a black pair of seta sandals, and his tails curled around his body. He was quite tall and a little round, but nonetheless a cute little boy.
"Introduce yourself son. This is one of your father's close friends!" Garrik says reaching a hand behind his son's back and pus.h.i.+ng him forward.
Taking his father's words to heart he raises a small fist to his chest and thumps his chest.
"h.e.l.lo, I'm Mime Vaziel, nine years old, the seventh son to Garrik Vaziel, and Lorna Vaziel," he says without a pause to Emberlynn.
Garrik rubs his nose obviously pleased with his son.
"Your very handsome, Mime. Don't be like your moneygrubber father," Emberlynn says with a wink towards the boy.
"Now Emberlynn, I'm not a moneygrubber, I think you're mistaken! Your husband is the one with a love for money," Garrik says with a shake of his head.
"We'll you both should come and stay at my place. Horace will be excited to see you! And Mime you should meet my daughter she's seven, but I'm sure you'll get along with her," Emberlynn says with a nod.
Mime eyes light up, and that makes Emberlynn laugh a little.
"We'll trouble you then," Garrik says with a smile.
