G.o.d knew how scared she was earlier. She didn't even know what to do. At that moment, she wished she knew how to fight. It even strengthened her resolve to learn martial arts and combat fighting.
The only thing that kept her hopeful was the fact that she trusted Si Weimin's ability. Somehow, her admiration for him doubled. It was the first time she saw him engaged in such tight and intense battle. The last time she saw him fought with Li Yun was nothing compared to this time.
However, the man was a difficult opponent. That's why she called w.a.n.g Guo and asked for help. She didn't go out because she knew that it might only distract Si Weimin. She heard everything and now, she knew that the one who sent the box to her was the man.
The man was after her! The thought left her trembling with fear. If it weren't for Si Weimin, what could have happened to her?
"I'm okay. Don't worry about me."
"I can't imagine –" she didn't finish her words as the tears began to stream down on her cheeks again. She buried her face on Si Weimin's chest. She couldn't continue living if something happened to him. She knew that much now. She would never forgive herself if he was hurt because of her.
When she felt Si Weimin touched her hair, the worry suddenly vanished. When he lifted her face, the more she felt emotional and the tears flowed like a broken dam. When she stared directly to his eyes, the more she felt her heart filled with so much love she couldn't contain.
Then Si Weimin touched her face to dry her tears, "I'm sorry for making you worry, love. Please, stop crying."
"T-the t-tears j-ust won't s-stop…" Xu Jia Li answered in between sob. Her face was dampened with tears, "I w-was so scared, honey. I thought something bad would happen."
Feeling Si Weimin's hug, she hugged him tighter. He patted and caressed her back as he spoke gently, "There. There. I'm okay, aren't I?"
She inhaled his fragrant scent as she caressed his abdomen, "Does it still hurt?"
She t.i.tled her head up and looked intently at him. She saw him shook his head, "No. It will hurt me more if something happened to you. I'm just glad I came at the right time."
She felt Si Weimin's body tensed up. She looked at him before she said in a soft voice, "I know I shouldn't open the door and I was about to call you earlier. Thank you for coming, honey."
"Thank you for being safe, love. You're the only one that matters to me. I love you so much. Just thinking about that man and that… he could've tried to hurt you… frightens me to my core."
"Who's he?" she asked as she eyed him. Her eyes were puffed from all the crying.
"We'll find out once we've interrogated him."
Xu Jia Li took a deep breath as she gazed at Si Weimin's serious face, "What's really the content of the box?"
Seeing the hesitation on Si Weimin's face, she held his hands, "Honey, you have to tell me. I'm not that fragile. I can handle things."
When Si Weimin told him the content of the box, her whole body shuddered involuntarily. Why did someone send her four dead sparrows?
She felt Si Weimin tightened his grip on her hands. She smiled rea.s.suringly before she asked, "Did it have any letter inside?"
"No, there's none," Si Weimin kissed her hands before he looked at her eyes, "Can I ask you a question?"
She nodded in response.
"Do you think this has something to do with what we saw that day?"
Xu Jia Li froze before she turned her gaze down. She fiddled her fingers, clearly hesitating whether to tell him everything or not. In truth, she really didn't know but she had a hunch that it did have a connection.
Suddenly, she felt Si Weimin caressed her face, "Love, look at me. You can trust me. Please, trust me."
Xu Jia Li sighed as she gazed at Si Weimin's hopeful eyes, "I think it has something to do with the carca.s.s and the letters I received."
Seeing Si Weimin listening intently, she continued, "I-I'm sorry for not being honest to you b-but… there are so many things that you have to know about me."
"If you really can't tell –"
She cut Si Weimin's words when she said, "No, I trust you more than anyone else. It's just right that we start our relations.h.i.+p with honesty. I-If you think you couldn't stay after hearing this then, I'll clearly understand."
