Thomas was given the green light to move around, albeit slowly, and he wasn't allowed to shake anyone's hands or salute for fear of damaging someone else or himself. The group, Doctor Elaine included, moved to Experimental Lab Three. It was one of the labs that Thomas hand't been to, he wasn't authorized to visit. The scientists and the Major General all headed into the lab through a different door, Thomas alone entered through the main door. What he saw before him was probably the most shocking sight he had ever seen.

In front of Thomas was an exact replica of the training camp he had been a part of so many months ago. Except everything was replaced with metal instead of wood, probably because he would break it all. Not even just regular iron metal, but steel. Everything was made out of steel. A loudspeaker up in a corner he couldn't really see crackled to life.

"Thomas, welcome to The Playground, it's an exact replica of what you went through before you came here. The only difference is that all of your fellow men have been replaced with fragile dummies. You have to complete every scenario with zero casualties either by your hand or through the simulation. Your strength is far beyond that of a regular man, we have to make you realize your own limits and gain control of your strength. This will be the last series of training, once you finish this, you'll be sent off to war on your first operation. Do not worry, your company has already been formed, you hand-picked them remember? Operation Limits of One Man, officially begins!" Major General Hughes voice thundered over the intercom.

Thomas looked at the first obstacle before him, it was relatively simple. On a wooden table lay some of the weapons he was going to utilize in the field, all he had to do was disa.s.semble and rea.s.semble each one within the time frame allotted. Although, he really hadn't been practicing of late, so it might be a little tougher than normal. He approached the first weapon on the table, it was a standard M-Nineteen-Eleven Forty-Five Caliber Semi-Automatic Pistol, an American cla.s.sic. It wasn't hard for Thomas to disa.s.semble, he took of the slide, the springs, the receiver, soon enough eh ad the whole thing in pieces.

Next he tried to swiftly rea.s.semble the pistol, but with a small crunch, the spring for the chamber was in pieces. He was a lot stronger than the though he was. Luckily the table had a second pistol so he disa.s.sembled that one, and this time he gingerly handled the spring as if it would break like a toothpick. He successfully rea.s.sembled the pistol, he c.o.c.ked the slide back, safety was off, he thumbed the trigger. Click! The sidearm was in perfect working order, he set it down. The whole process took him a minute and a half, that's too long.

He moved on to the only other weapon on the table, it was a grease gun, standard German arms. It took him seconds to disa.s.semble it, and almost just as long to rea.s.semble it, he had to of course be careful with the smaller pieces lest they break, but the total time was still less than a minute. He moved on to the next obstacle course, which really wasn't much, it was just there to test his st.u.r.diness. He ran through a field of gunfire as regular small arms fire bounced off of him. He wasn't really immune to the bullets, most spots that were hit bruised almost instantly, and any spots. .h.i.t again were penetrated, not completely, but enough to make him start bleeding.

By the end of that death run, there were tiny little rivers flowing across his arms and chest, scarlet in color. There were a few test tubes on the table at the end of the course and he could well guess who wanted the samples. He filled two bottles and smashed the rest, it didn't feel right, giving out hi blood like that. Of course up in the observation room he made a lot of people unhappy. Not that he really cared, he didn't want anyone to try to replicate him. Thomas understood that having just one of him around was a cheat code of sorts, what if they tried to make more of him? They might kill people in the process, and that was not okay in his book.

Soon enough he got through most of the obstacle courses with ease, they were designed to test the limits of his strength. There was one course where he had to continuously flash in order to save some of the dummies from dying in insidious ways, such as frag grenades, drowning, or executions. That was pretty exhausting and he needed a few minutes to rest after that course. There was an obstacle course where he had to shake hands with the dummies, and every hand he broke exploded. His hand was just a mess of splinters and small blood rivers. It took him ten dummies before he could shake hands without them breaking. It was for his own good of course, what if he had to shake the hand of a non-combatant or a civilian? He would literally reduce their hands to fractured bones and muscles.

By the end of the obstacle course he felt he was more than ready to take on the world. Normally it would take someone a lot longer to get used to their new strengths, but if he couldn't adapt with all the preparations they had made before hand, he might as well just become a lab rat. He wouldn't be saving anyone, new lease on life or not. Now he was ready to take the fight to the enemy, and not only that, but he would also discover how he came back from the dead. After all, if it happened in his old timeline, then surely it could happen here...could it not?
