Thomas awoke to a darkened medical room, and he was once again strapped to his bed, but this time he was strapped with iron chains.

"What the f.u.c.k," he whispered, but the voice didn't sound like his own. It was deeper and more masculine, he sounded more like an action movie star than he does himself. He rattled the iron chains of his bed, the bed groaned. Wait, since when did he become this strong?

"I really wouldn't break the bed if I were you," a voice off to his left sounded in his ear. He turned to look and it was Doctor Elaine, she was also laying in a bed of her own, wait, why could he see her so clearly? It was pitch dark in the medical room, technically he shouldn't have been able to see anything at all.

"Can you see me, Captain?" Elaine asked.

"Clear as day, Doc." Thomas replied. "How did I end up this way?"

"You don't remember anything do you?" Elaine was astonished. At the same time she pushed a yellow b.u.t.ton on the side of her bed.

"No, not a thing." Thomas admitted, it bothered him greatly. He should have been able to remember more, but no matter how much he thinks about it, he can't recall the moment that landed him here. Whatever it was, it has something to do with why he feels so different. Before he could ponder anything further the lights in the room went on, but they weren't blinding. His eyes instantly adjusted to the bright lights which s.h.i.+ned like the afternoon sun. The door burst open and Major General Hughes walked in with three armed escorts and three scientists, one of whom he doesn't know at all.

"Captain, I'm sure you'll excuse me for the armed escort, but we can't afford what happened last time." Major General Hughes stated, he was looking older than the last time Thomas saw him. He also got a haircut, so it was regulation, but still completely gray. Last time Thomas saw him there weren't as many lines in his face, the Major General was getting older, that or he had a lot of stress piled on. The soldiers he brought in with him were all stone-faced, not a single thought or emotion could be read from them. Alan Turing and Doctor Katz were chatting with a third colleague, which again, Thomas didn't recognize.

"It's no problem at all, Major General, but if you wouldn't mind removing these chains? They are a tad bit uncomfortable." Thomas lightly suggested. He yanked on one of the iron chains and it snapped, sending shards and pieces flying. "Oh, well, I didn't mean for that to happen, I guess I'll just do it myself."

The entire group watched with shock and surprise written on their faces as Thomas snapped all of the iron chains with little effort and got out of the bed. He then stretched and every bone in his body audibly popped, everyone in the room could hear it. It was a very powerful sound.

"Sir, I don't think we'd be of any help if something were to go wrong." One of the soldiers pointed out.

"You're quite right, I think this is beyond all expectations, you three are dismissed." Hughes waved his hand and the three soldiers saluted before marching out of the room.

So, you are Thomas? Most famous specimen I hear?" The third scientist walked up to him, eager to examine him. He was of Russian descent, that much was clear. Not only did his voice have that certain inflection, but that majestic beard on his face also spoke of Russian heritage. "I am Doctor Sokolov, but you may call me Pyetr. If you find that hard to p.r.o.nounce like these other two yokels, you may call me Peter. I find that name to be unflattering and unsophisticated though."

"Who are you calling unsophisticated you milk-drinking Russkie!" Alan Turing called out, his face full of indignation.

"While it's true I drink milk from the bear, but you British still wee on your children." Doctor Sokolov let out a hearty laugh and turned to Thomas. "Let's see those eyes of yours, eh?"

Thomas watched as the Russian doctor took out a number of implements from a bad he was carrying. They were of weird shapes and one of them even had a small light attached to it. Certainly nothing Thomas had ever seen before. The other doctors also looked on in interest, these tools were quite new to them as well.

"Okay Thomas, I am going to begin!" Doctor Sokolov exclaimed as he flourished an instrument before him. It had a long thin needle and it was attached to a medical vial. "Do not be afraid, I m just going to take some ocular fluid from both of your eyes, this won't hurt! In fact, be a man, like me! I wrestle bears in my free time! Hahahaha!"

Thomas sat absolutely still as the "Eye Doctor" went about his business, and he was right, it didn't actually hurt. Soon the Russian doctor had the two samples he needed. "Excellent quality this batch, clearest ocular fluid I've seen! We will discover what makes your eyes tick in no time at all! We'll have the sensitive "man-boy" over there conduct some numbers with these" Sokolov whispered in a not so quiet conspiratorial tone with Thomas.

"Hey! I AM NOT A MAN-BOY!" Alan Turing fl.u.s.tered with embarra.s.sment.

"We were not talking about you, but if you are so eager to defend yourself from such a statement, be our guest and take up the t.i.tle! Hahahaha!" Sokolov laughed heartily and even the rest of the group were all smiles. "Okay Thomas, we've got some more work to do, I want you to look over here...okay and now over here...." Doctor Pyetr waved one hand this way and that way, trying to figure the range of vision that Thomas had. He was astounded by the results, but nothing would be more astonis.h.i.+ng than the trials they would later have him go through in order to test his body to the limits.
