Bad thoughts go away!
Hao Daiyu coughed into her fist as she tried not to laugh. He looked similar to a dog shaking the water off of its fur after a bath.
Van sighed. He wondered what he had done to embarra.s.s himself this time. He had a haggard expression. He felt extremely drained and was tempted to just collapse on the gra.s.s and take a nice rest, oblivious to the world around him.
Hao Daiyu spoke up once again.
"Don't look like that. I'll stop teasing you. So, what are you doing here?"
She looked at Van expectantly. Van thought carefully about how to respond.
"I'm the City Lord's new student."
"Student? Not disciple?"
Hao Daiyu was surprised. She had remembered that the City Lord had mentioned that he was determined to obtain a disciple, but he had never mentioned any intentions of taking in a student.
"So... You're my father's student? And you've been s.e.xually hara.s.sing his daughter. I wonder how he'll think of that."
She said it smugly, watching Van for a reaction. Van decided to speak up for himself.
"I thought you said you would stop teasing me..."
Van started fake sniffling, placing his head into his arms. Hao Daiyu felt pity for him and walked over to his side.
"It's okay. I promise I won't do it ever again."
She said in a gentle tone.
Victory is achieved!
Van thought to himself, smiling under behind the fabric.
I should keep up this act for a little bit longer though. Van lifted his eyes with a few tears flowing down his face.
"Really?"
He tried to put on his cutest expression. The one that would always make his mother change her mind about his punishment. Hao Daiyu's maternal instincts were triggered prematurely.
"Of course."
She stated affirmingly. Van's sad expression vanished instantly to be replaced with an expression that seemed to shoot out beams of light. He jumped at Hao Daiyu and hugged her like a son would his mother.
"Yay!"
Meanwhile, not too far away in a bush, one could find a suspicious-looking man watching the two act out the strange scene, from when they climbed up the tree up to the present. This suspicious looking man was the City Lord himself. This time, he wore a pair of gla.s.ses. These gla.s.ses weren't ordinary. The lenses were engraved with formations that allowed him to zoom on any scene within a distance of about 6 kilometers.
The City Lord was filled with unsuppressed fury. He would've never imagined that his newly accepted student and his daughter would hit it off like so. The Celestial Heavens Palace was such a big place that there was a less than 1% chance that Van could've met the City Lord's daughter in any circ.u.mstance. In fact, she was never left alone, except for those few times that she would escape her escorts. Of course, she never left the palace so it was impossible for her to spend any alone time with any male.
Yet here she was, chatting away with Van, his newly accepted disciple. Tears started to drip out of the corner of the City Lord's eyes. He could already hear the wedding bells ringing as she waved goodbye to him, her father, and ran away into the arms of her groom, his student, as they walked off into the distance.
That will never happen!

The City Lord vowed to himself to always keep his precious daughter by his side, no matter the cost. Seeing that Van had jumped into his daughter's arms, he decided to take action. He knew that if he didn't that his daughter would continue on a path separate from his and that she would head off to places far away from him.
He jumped out of the green brush, that he had been hiding in, and dashed towards the two. The two enjoyed a warm friendly embrace until they heard a disturbance in their previously tranquil surroundings.
Hao Daiyu could see a figure running at them in the distance. She squinted and covered her eyes from the sunlight to try to focus her eyes on the figure.
"Is that my dad?! What's he doing here?!"
Hao Daiyu exclaimed in surprise. She knew here dad was overprotective, but she never thought that he would resort to borderline stalking to keep her safe at his side.
"Is your dad the overprotective type?"
Van asked casually as he enjoyed the feeling of the embrace between the two.
"I think he's more like the type with a daughter's complex..."
When Van heard that, he jumped back in fright and immediately hid behind Hao Daiyu.
"I'm his student... he won't kill me - Right?"
Van asked Hao Daiyu, a hopeful expression on his innocent face. Hao Daiyu looked back rea.s.suringly.
"It is likely that he won't kill you, but I'm here and I won't let him kill you, my new friend."
She smiled radiantly towards Van. Van's face turned a few shades paler. The City Lord immediately appeared in front of the two, deciding that his daughter had told Van enough to go in for the kill. He emitted a hostile aura. A smile spread across his face.
"Van, would you like to have a private conversation with me?"
The City Lord had a malevolent aura about him, coupled with the malicious smile, anyone could tell his true intentions. Van tried to hide his figure behind Hao Daiyu as much as possible, hoping childishly that if the City Lord couldn't see him that the City Lord would forget about his existence. To Van's dismay and probable demise, the City Lord seemed to stare straight through his daughter into Van's soul. Van decided to make his proper response at that moment.
"T.t.t..ttt..eacher! I think it would be best for you to calm down ff...fff....irst."
Van stuttered his words as he tried his best to calmly reply in the face of something that would scare even the devil himself, an overprotective dad with supernatural abilities.
