As soon as he made a run for it, loud music could be heard, blasting out from the location where he threw the phone.

Long Yu was making use of the zombies' sensitivity to sound, to attract them away from the girl.

He had set his phone at maximum volume before putting on a random ring tone, hoping to get those b.a.s.t.a.r.ds to head towards the source of the noise.

As he circled around back to the direction of the little girl amidst the cover of the surrounding vehicles, Long Yu confirmed that his plan was working, when he heard a crowd of hurried footsteps heading for the phone.

When Long Yu finally made it back to the girl, he was glad to see that there were no zombies around anymore.

As he approached the still crying girl, he could now see her figure properly.

Based on her height and size, he guessed that she was around 7 or 8 years old.

The little girl has a sightly pale skin tone with beautiful facial features. Her big round eyes look puffy, presumably from all that crying.

She was wearing a simple white one-piece dress, with pink stripes running along the middle, while holding a small pillow in her hands.

On top of her slightly disheveled long hair, was a pink headband which has two leaf shape ribbons popping out on top.

When Long Yu got within a meter from her, he felt an invisible wall, stopping him from going any further. He recognised it as the girl's ability which he witnessed just now.

Having no other way to get to her, he could only try to convince her to remove the barrier.

"Hey, little girl… can you hear me? Hey..."

Seeing the girl not responding, he could only keep trying.

There was finally a response after a few more tries.

"Xixi, can you hear me?" he called her name this time.

"Wuuu…huh? Who is calling Xixi?" she stopped and looked around for the voice.

"Over here, little girl," Long Yu waved at her to get her attention. "Your name is Xixi isn't it? Why are you crying?" he asked gently.

"Wuuu… big brother, I can't find my mama.. wuuu.." the girl spoke between sobs.

"How about you come with me and we'll go look for her together? It's really dangerous to be here right now." he tried to coax her.

"But…wuu..but mama said not to follow strangers.." she said hesitantly."

Long Yu sighed at her reply. It seems he could only use his hidden card to convince her.

With a wave of his hand, a cute figurine appeared on top of his palm.

Based on the outfit that she was wearing, and the image on the pillow, Long Yu figured that she must really love the cartoon character. So, he just exchanged for the figurine version of it from the system.

"Waaahh!! It's Ai-chan!" the little girl jumped in surprise when she saw her favourite character appear in his hand.

Long Yu sighed in relief at the girl's reaction. His hidden card actually worked!

"How about it Xixi? You follow big brother, and this cartoon doll will be yours." he said with a smile on his face.

"Big brother, you're wrong!" there was a reprimanding tone in her soft voice.

"Huh??" Long Yu was confused.

"It's not a cartoon, big brother! It's Ai-chan. It's an anime character, you know?"

Long Yu felt the urge to laugh when he saw her puff her cheeks, with an expression of dissatisfaction on her face. It seems that she was not even sobbing anymore.

Trying his best to hold it in, Long Yu continued their conversation, "Oh.. of course, of course. Big brother made a mistake."

"How about it? If you follow me, you can have this super cute 'Ai-chan' doll."

"Wuu.. okay, but you must keep your promise, big brother!" she hastily removed the barrier and skipped towards Long Yu, as if afraid he would go back on his words.

If someone saw this scene on a normal day, they would have probably reported him to the police as a pedophile.

Alas, even if the police were here, he wouldn't be the first thing they have worry about.

After handing Xixi the doll, Long Yu wanted to hold on to her hand, intending to bring her away from this place. However, he noticed that both her hands were occupied, a pillow in her left and a doll in her right.

"Oh well, I'll just carry you then," he gently picked her up into his arms, surprising the little girl who was still admiring the figurine in her hand.

"Come, let's go find your mother," he said as he headed towards his car.

Long Yu intended to get them into the safety of his Black Shark first, before doing anything else.

He walked in large strides while carrying the girl, hoping that they wouldn't meet any zombies on his way.

Once he got to the car, Long Yu was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

"Front doors open," he called out.

Within seconds, there was a beep of confirmation from the car before the front doors automatically unlocked and opened.

"Waahh, big brother, that's so cool!" Xixi exclaimed.

Long Yu felt a bit proud hearing her praise and boasted, "Haha of course, it's almost as cool as your Ai-chan doll isn't it?"

The little la.s.s made a funny face at his comment. Looking back at her new doll, she couldn't decide whether to agree with him or not.

While she was still in her little dilemma, Long Yu s.h.i.+fted his arms and put her onto the front pa.s.senger seat. He fastened Xixi's seat belt and was about to close the door, when he suddenly heard a terrified shout from her.
