We were walking down the road when I started to smell a smell, a little saliva builds up in my mouth.
"I smell blood" I speak.
"Human?" Alicia asks.
"Yes, we have to run." I take Alicia off my shoulders and make her grab my back "Can you hold on?"
"Yep."
I put in as much speed as I could. The smell of blood was getting stronger and stronger, after a minute we got close enough to see the scene. Several trolls were around, human bodies on the ground and a girl on her knees.
"Come after me, don't worry about the monsters' bodies, put them out." I release Alicia on the ground and walk ahead.
I can hear someone talking really low, I can't identify what, but it comes from the girl on the floor.
I run towards him, between us there was a troll, he looked very hurt, I can't knock him down with just one blow, but... Some time ago I made Alicia carry food with her for emergencies, so she ended up making me do the same. Who would have thought it would be useful in this way? I took a bottle of blood in my backpack and drank it, then I threw what I was carrying into a bush.
My ability with wind magic is getting better and better, now I can see the results. The dagger, covered by wind magic, hits the troll, which is knocked down with just one blow.
"Ioan?" I hear the voice of surprise from Alicia behind me.
I look ahead and I see a girl, she looks like she's eighteen, red hair, a little curly. She wore a standard adventurous outfit, but with a tunic on top. This tunic had a hood, it was the same person as before.
"Alicia, protect her" I speak.
"Aarth Wall" says Alicia.
A wall appeared on the girl's side and stopped a troll attack.
I run to the left, there were two trolls in the way, deflecting their blows while counter attacking. Alicia walked calmly towards the girl, seemed to have all the calm in the world, created earth walls to defend herself from troll attacks. Meanwhile my attacks. .h.i.t vital monster points, neck, eye and knees were my main targets.
After two fell I thought we'd win easily, big mistake, the more they came one after the other. Alicia, seeing that I could handle the monsters, decided to keep protecting the girl, but still gave me some support, stopping blows and attacking when I needed it.
About twenty minutes later over a dozen trolls were dead.
"Any more nearby?" asks Alicia.
"I can't feel anything I speak after concentrating on my sense of smell.
The girl kept crying. Maybe because Alicia and I have been through a lot, we decided not to say anything. We know how painful it is to see people feeling sorry for you, they say they know how bad it is, but someone who has not been through it has no right to say something like that. We just keep quiet and let it go.
After some time she stops crying, although she is no longer in danger I think it is better to get her out of here, several corpses are around us, including that of her former partners.
"I think we better get out of here."
She just nods her head in agreement. So we went out of the forest, from where we were it was easier to move on to the plains than to come back all the way.
"Ioan got stronger?" Alicia asks later while we walked.
"Why do you think that?" I ask her.
"Ioan knocked down the first troll with just one blow," he replies.
"Ah, that one was pretty bruised" I took my dagger. "But that's also why."
I put a little wind magic in it, its blade s.h.i.+nes a little green.
"Skill?" She asks.
"That's magic." I answer it.
His reaction was an expression of doubt.
"It's quite simple" I speak. "Instead of throwing the magic as usual I put it around my dagger."
"Simple?" Now the expression of doubt turns to shock.
"What?" I ask.
After that it was explained to me. Launching magic is relatively easy as long as you learn the basics, but shaping magic is much more difficult, for example, the fireball is much easier than the fire arrow, shaping magic is a very advanced skill.
"Ioan understood?v question.
I feel like she was a little angry.
"I get it, but I've always been able to do it."
"Hack."
After a not so long walk we reached the plains. I searched for several woods and built a fire while Alicia used the stone wall to make a shelter. We sat by the fire, at this moment the girl who was quiet until now comes to us.
"Sorry I kept quiet until now," he says low. "My name is Bianca, thanks for saving me." It ends by putting your head down.
"Don't worry about it, my name is Ioan Ilie and it's..."
"Alicia."
We introduce ourselves.
"So, you want us to help you get back to town tomorrow?" I ask.
"In fact, if possible..." Take a short break and cut the eye contact. "I wouldn't want to go back to that village."
It seems you've had a complicated past or you just don't want to be the only one back, but no matter what, I'm not going to force anyone to say something they don't want to.
"I understand, we're heading to the next village, if you want you can come with us" I speak as I get up.
"If it's not too much trouble," answer low.
"For now..." Alicia says as she goes through her backpack looking for something. "Eat" Take the dried meat.

They slept together in the tent. Alicia has already given up trying to share the lookout with me, now she usually goes out as soon as she lies down. Bianca said she could share the watch with me, but I still can't trust her, although she doesn't think she'll do anything we've just met, plus I can go a few days without sleeping.
~The next day~
We followed the path first thing in the morning. The two of them had eaten some more of the food we brought. Just like the day before Bianca was walking a little further behind me quietly, at that time I kept talking to Alicia.
"I realized that before" I break the silence. "Alicia is not from the Kingdom, right?"
"No, Alicia comes from the Empire, one of the other forces on the continent."
So it is as I had imagined, since I arrived on the continent most of the people I saw had traces similar to the western equivalent of my ancient world, but Alicia has oriental traces. Together with what I learned from Lucio on this continent, the northernmost part is western and the southernmost part is eastern.
"Ioan is strange too" says Alicia cutting my line of thought.
"Why?"
"Ioan has black hair, usually original vampires don't," he says.
My parameter for comparison is very small, despite having lived a few months in the Vampire Kingdom I have not met many original vampires. I think only Ruby and one of the army generals, the others never seemed to be.
"I never thought of that."
I smell monsters around, I stop at the same instant, the others follow my example, although Bianca noticed a little late and b.u.mped into my left arm. A pain pa.s.ses through my body, I don't speak anything, but you can probably see that I felt it by my expression.
"Sorry," keep it down.
"It was my fault..." I look at the strips on my arm, I might have to stop doing that. "There are monsters nearby."
As soon as I finish talking three kobolds appear in our field of vision. It was the first time I saw one, but I knew them from cla.s.ses and games in my previous life. Half the size of a normal human, his face looked like that of a dog, the difference was the two little horns that came out of his forehead. They usually attack in large groups because they are usually weak.
I look at Alicia, I can see the chain on her neck, it was the placement that hides her presence, vampires also hide their presence naturally. They must think we're weak.
"I'll get one." I take the dagger out of its holster. "Alicia, take care of the rest."
"Yep" She answers by raising her hand to the monsters.
I speed towards them. They were holding spears, which are pointed in my direction when I move, even though they are weak they have a considerable speed. If we had to deal with several we'd be in trouble, but there are only three. I take a kobold by the head, though I'm faster. I'll stop ten meters away from the other two.
"Too fast," Bianca says opening her mouth.
"File Ball" says Alicia.
The other two are instantly evaporated, the girl's magic was almost a meter in diameter.
"Without a plumber?" The priest speaks almost screaming now.
I understand your surprise. Normally for magic to get stronger the magician would use a plumber, so they are usually made to be powerful plumbers. Alicia doesn't need something like that.
"Good job." I kill what was in my hands by crus.h.i.+ng his head.
~Gain of 480 xp~
Unfortunately I have to kill more of them in order to calculate how much xp they give, I drink the blood of the kobolt on my hands.
"Who are you?" says a little scared. "I knew they were strong for defeating the orcs, but..." the girl runs out of words.
