It was time to contact Master River. The Dragon Emperor sent his spirit sense into the medallion.
"They've started killing I take it." Master River said from a shadow in the room. The Dragon Emperor jumped, he had just put his spirit sense into the medallion. Just how strong was this Master River. The Dragon King rose from his chair and bowed towards Master River.
"Master River, thank you for coming. The Fiends have murdered the top experts on two thousand worlds. It seems like the Fiends are increasing in numbers and I don't know why."
"It sounds like they've discovered Fiend Stones in your Empire. Here's a jade crystal containing information on Fiend Stones and where you might find them. I would suggest dispatching your army to find and destroy as many of them as you can." Master River said.
"I will do as you say, Master River!" The Dragon Emperor bowed as he received the Jade Crystal.
"I cannot directly get involved in this matter. There are rules." Master River admitted.
"I understand. Is there any other way you can help us?" The Emperor asked.
"I'm training three students. The two twins and the young Five-Clawed Gold Dragon. Once I'm done with them I'll send them to you. The twin Dragons will be ready to return soon. You also have another student of mine, Kal.
Kal can be relied on for the time being. The Dragon twins will be around his strength. They're all stronger than you.
The young Wudi will take more time. When he's done, I hope he'll be as strong as the Great Fiend that is behind this. I'm just not sure.
One of the things that the Great Fiend is looking for is Harmonization stones. He'll create a Harmonization Platform Array with them." Master River said.
"What does this array do?" The Emperor asked.
"The Fiends come from the Devilish Lands. They have a unique spiritual resonance. The Devils of those lands can only exist in universes with the Devilish Lands resonance. The Fiends can come to other Universes, however, their strength is restricted.
By gathering Harmonization stones and creating a Harmonization Platform Array he can harmonize his Fiendish energies with the Dragon Empire.
After the initial array has been built, the Great Fiend will build other arrays throughout the Dragon Empire and change its resonance to match the Devilish lands.
Once that happens the best you can do is flee to another universe. There are too many Fiends that are far more powerful than you can imagine.
The Wu Di was forced to flee from our original homes to this Dragon Empire." Master River said.
The Dragon Emperor was shocked, "The Wu Di weren't natives of our universe?"
"No, that's one of the reasons your grandfather tried to get rid of us." Master River said.
"Did you kill my grandfather, Master River?" The Dragon Emperor asked.
"If I did?" Master River responded.
The Dragon Emperor merely shrugged his shoulders. "There's nothing that I can do about it, and I think we were at fault. We should have made the Wu Di Clan our allies." the Dragon Emperor said.
"I didn't kill him. He's still alive, but he is being punished." Master River said.
The Dragon Emperor understood. The last time he saw his grandfather he was on his way to deal with a powerful Wu Di cultivator. He never returned.
The Dragon Emperor always thought his grandfather was dead, but when he heard news of Master River, he began to wonder. Could this be the cultivator his grandfather mentioned?
"I can't interfere directly in this matter. The most I can promise is four students that I have trained and Elite warriors from the Wu Di clan. You can expect to see more of them soon." Master River said.
"How long until we can expect these experts?" The Dragon Emperor asked.
"Wudi will be done in about three months. The others a little before." Master River said.
"We will hold on somehow for your students. Mater River, do you know where that Five-Clawed Dragon youth came from?" The Dragon Emperor asked.
"I do, but I'm not going to tell you. You would need to ask him yourself. He seems to have a penchant for drama and secrets." Master River said with a slight chuckle.
He found his students desire for a secret ident.i.ty to be cute. He didn't understand why he wanted people to think of him as two people. However, it was kind of fun to keep everyone guessing!
"Ok, then I will do my best to stall for three months." The Dragon Emperor said. What else could he do?
The Dragon Emperor suddenly realized Master River was no longer present. Master River had left without the Dragon Emperor noticing.
Looking at the Dragon Emperor's expression, Master River laughed to himself. His student was right, leaving in front of someone while they were talking was really fun. Especially that silly look on their face.
The problem facing the Dragon Emperor now was how to stall until all of the elite defenders of the Dragon Empire were gathered.
"You're not nearly as decisive as I was." a shadowy corner in the room spoke to the Dragon Emperor.
"Who?!" The Emperor was frightened. He accepted that Master River was capable of sneaking up on him, but who was this new person?
"How quickly you've forgotten me." The voice said. Out of the shadow appeared an older looking Gold dragon.
"Grandfather!" the Emperor cried out. The older dragon smiled slightly when he saw the excitement of his grandson.
"Grandfather, I've missed you for so many years. I've tried to find you, but you couldn't be found in all of the Dragon Empire. I feared the worst!" The Emperor said.
"I've been paying for my sins." the old dragon said.
"What do you mean?" Lorne asked.
"Old Master River caught me when I went to fight him. I thought at most we would be on equal footing. Ha!
That old man is a hundred times more powerful than me. I was so arrogant and ignorant." the old dragon said.
"He's that strong?" the Emperor asked.
"You were just a kid and you knew better than I did. You always tried to get me to make friends with the Wu Di Clan. I wish I had listened to you.
Now, I'm that man's slave until I don't know when. Speaking of which, Master River asked me to give you this jade crystal." The old dragon said wearily.
"What is it?" The Dragon Emperor asked in surprise.
"It's information on the Harmony Stones and where you can find them. You want to stall the Great Fiend and his forces.
The first thing you need to do is inhibit their ability to acquire Fiend and Harmony Stones. If you can do that, you'll have already bought a lot of time for the Dragon Empire!" The old dragon said.
The Dragon Emperor realized his grandfather was offering him guidance, perhaps that's why Master River left him here?
Without wasting a moment, The Emperor called for his top generals and gave them their tasks.
They were told that their success could mean the life or death of the Dragon Empire and all of its life forms.
Stalling the Fiends from acquiring Fiend stones would inhibit the production of new Fiends. This measure alone saved thousands of lives.
Later, this may save even more lives. Halting the ability to acquire the Harmony stone kept the Great Fiend from resonating with the Dragon Empire universes.
It also prevented the Great Fiend from changing the resonance of the Dragon Empire to match that of the Devilish Lands.
This action prevented even more powerful reinforcements from showing up. The armies of the Dragon Empire were sent on various missions. Some forces went to find and destroy Fiend Stones.
The Most efficient means to destroy Fiend Stones was greed. The Emperor created a Heavens Mandate order stating that those who found Fiend Stones would be reward with so much money per Stone.
The amounts offered by the Dragon Empire were so much that the entire cultivation community of the Dragon Empire flooded out of their sects to find Fiend Stones.
When those cultivators came across Fiends who were gathering the stones; the cultivators would attack them en ma.s.se. The Fiends were strong, but there was no way they could fight so many cultivators.
The Dragon Emperor put similar bounties on Harmony stones and the heads of the Fiends. Everywhere someone went throughout the Dragon Empire.
The Fiends were besieged. The Great Fiend had never expected the Dragon Emperor to be so decisive.
Even though the Dragon Emperor was so proactive, Fiend Stones and Harmony Stones were still found. It was much much slower but it was enough to replace the lost Fiends and still grow the Fiend Forces slowly.
Next, the Dragon Emperor contacted the Wu Di Clan to coordinate with them. The Dragon Emperor could only suggest where he thought the Wu Di Clan forces would best serve in the fight against the Fiendish Forces.
The Wu Di Clan Chief met with the Dragon Emperor. He learned from Master River that the current Dragon Emperor had always done his best to protect the Wu Di clan when his grandfather launched his extermination plot.
Based on Master River's recommendation, the Wu Di Clan Master was willing to work together with the Dragon Emperor.
However, the Wu Di Clan Chief had the final say on where and how his warriors were distributed.
The Wud Di Clan were responsible for locating and killing the Fiends. They would set up special array traps such as illusion and killing arrays and capture or kill the Fiends.
They found that getting information out of a Fiend was next to impossible. That's why the use of illusion arrays became more and more the weapon of choice against the Fiends.
By allowing the Fiends to fall into illusion arrays, they were able to learn a great deal of intel. The Dragon Empire soon learned where the Fiends headquarters were. The Dragon Emperor called Kal N'Dar to visit him.
Kal was becoming one of the greatest heroes of the Dragon Empire. He saves the lives of the dragon twins twice and managed to convince
Master River to come out and a.s.sist the Dragon Empire, even if indirectly. It could be seen from this just how important Kal N'Dar was. He was no longer just a useful tool employed by General Long.
Even General Long looked at him differently. General Long gave his daughter to Kal as a wife, they were married immediately and the couple had been on a short seven-day honeymoon.
The Dragon Emperor wasn't sure what the pair saw in each other, but it seemed to be love.
Now that Kal was back, the Emperor needed to use this important piece in the best way. The Emperor requested Kal to come and visit him.
Kal strolled into the Dragon Palace like he owned the place. He almost sauntered into the Throne room looking extremely self-satisfied.
Ever since Master River released him from his soul binding, Kal had been breathing the air of a free man. He loved the expression on BS42's face when Kal told him exactly what he thought of the Zimwarn Empire. He wanted nothing more to do with that rotten Emperor.
Even though Kal hated the Zimwarn Empire, there was enough loyalty in him to not share the secrets he came across during his time in the service of the Emperor.
Kal left BS42 stunned as he told him that he was keeping the Samsar pod and all its resources. If BS42 didn't like that then how much more would he like it if Kal leaked the secret that the Dragon Empire was being infiltrated by the Zimwarn Empire.
Yes, Kal was feeling pretty good these days and he couldn't help but swagger about everywhere he went.
The Dragon Emperor saw Kal swagger in before him. The Emperor got right to the point.
"Kal, let's make a deal."
